Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The whole hotel needs a good money injection, which is disappointing when it’s part of a large hotel group! I asked to move rooms as the bed was less than adequate, second room was no better. I was on my own and the proceeded to give me a room with two beds and a fold out bed! The room was so cluttered! Matress was desperate and pillows were awful! 3 star hotels and gave better standards than that! Big commercial bins at the top of the stairs like in a hospital. Bar was cluttered and messy. Seats were dirty and very uncomfortable as they needs new cushions.

My wife and I returned today after 4 nights in River Island Hotel. We found a friendly hotel with a warm welcome. Rooms were probably basic but very clean and comfortable and had all the amenities required. My mobility isn't great but there is a lift. You can't call it to the front door but reception which is up a few steps will send it down to you if you need it. Buffet breakfast is plentiful and evening meals are delicious so we ate there each night. We would certainly plan on staying there again. Value was amazing for the quality of the hotel.

Wasn't a great stay by any means, Noise from bar heard clearly in room until 2 in morning. Probably not great for kids. Breakfast was poor, coffee very weak. Service at breakfast definitely wasn't the best. Receptionist was nice.

Friendly staff - very good breakfast - delicious, well-presented evening meals. Great musical entertainment provided by Patrick. Bedroom decor is 'tired' but beds are very comfortable and bathrooms clean.

The amount of stairs is ridiculous. It's nonsensical. Doesn't make sense. And the lifts don't accommodate people over a certain age. Food only adequate to be honest and the options of drink on tap is a joke. The most awful Rockshore. No Coors. And also the Guinness was shocking. Brought staff in for an occasion who were so lovely but didn't know where anything was behind the bar. Price for room was reasonable to be fair.

Hotel was in Main Street and offered a good service and comfortable and spacious rooms. Clean and well equipped. Quite a spacious restaurant, food was good and breakfast had plenty of choice. Small cosy bar, and service was good. No parking on site but a free local carpark within a few minutes walk Maybe wouldn’t suit someone with mobility issues as although there was a lift still quite a few stairs to to negotiate

Parking was free on the street. The entrance lobby is big and very grand. The reception staff were polite and friendly. Our room was tidy and neat but rather outdated with choice of furniture. En suite was clean. Evening meal choice I thought was somewhat limited and the staff were not quite attentive or that helpful but the food was good. Breakfast was buffet so help yourself which was fine as good choice. The morning staff were brilliant and friendly with one of them even lending me her own mug when I asked for a bigger cup for my coffee. The reception staff were again very helpful when we were checking out and looking for alternative accommodation for that night as they were fully booked.

During our visit Marie and Clodagh went out of their way to help us, Marie was using her own phone to make enquiries for us while the main phone was in use, she really went above and beyond to make sure we were looked after and helped us to sort out a problem we were having (which was nothing to do with the wonderful hotel). We felt very looked after and found the staff welcoming, friendly and helpful. Highly recommended. Thanks again Marie, we really appreciated your help.
