Detailed Reviews
Proximity to the airport is a plus. Rooms and public space was very clean. In general, staff was courteous and friendly. Food was ok but breakfast was fair (rashers - similar to bacon - were so tough I could not cut them). My issue was that I had a morning flight the next day with about 21 hrs of travel ahead of me. I stayed on a Saturday night, got into bed at 9:30pm and was woken by LOUD rock music coming from the bar below me shortly after 10pm. I called the desk and was told the band usually quit around midnight. I gave up trying to sleep around 10:45p. My sister in the adjacent room had to leave the hotel at 5:30am and got 4 hrs sleep. If you’re flying out during the week, the proximity to the airport is favorable (about a 10-25 min taxi ride). If you need a Friday or Saturday night and this is your best/only option, I’d suggest asking for a room as far from the bar as possible and on the top floor.

Dear ewpeterson24 Thank you for taking the time to review us and we appreciate all feedback. Apologies you got allocated a room over the bar area, we weren't aware you had an early morning flight. It's nice to hear the staff were friendly and courteous and will share your comments with all the team here. Should you be in the area again we do hope you will give us another opportunity to try and restore your faith in us. Kind regards John Gavin Owner/Director

The hotel is near some great spots but difficult to reach unless you have a car or book a taxi(uber is available). The staff is amazing and the breakfast is rich. Pro tip: you can request breakfast meals such as pancakes for free. We had some problems with our room as the shower was not working well and the pub noise travelled to our room making it impossible to go to sleep while someone was performing there. I suggest you just join the pub crowd and enjoy the music directly there.

Spent the weekend with my husband and friends in the Shannon Springs. The check in was quick because you do it online before you check-in. Very friendly Manager on desk when we arrived explained were breakfast was etc and showed us the way to our room. Our room was beautiful great shower comfortable bed and it had Air-conditioning which was a very added bonus in the weather we have just experienced. Staff were so nice accross the whole Hotel plenty of staff we never once had to look for staff they were very attentive checking to see if there was anything they could do for us. Breakfast in the morning was fabulous great selection and the hot breakfast was the best we have ever eaten in the many hotels we have stayed in accross Ireland. It was lovely and fresh no hard bacon or overcooked eggs it was perfect Staff again in the breakfast room were lovely and helpful. Food in the bar was lovely. This hotel is the perfect base to tour around the beautiful Clare area. We would Highly recommend the Shannon Springs well done to all the staff who made our stay so enjoyable. We will definetly be back

When we arrived we checked in staff lovely and friendly all going well.
When we were in the room we realised the TV wasn't working we called reception and waited about 20 minutes before calling again as no one arrived at our room. After about 5 minutes after the second call we got a call and they told us to move to the room next door we checked the TV which also wasn't working so we moved again to a room which the TV also wasn't working. So someone came to the room and spend about 30 minutes checking the tvs before realising there was a problem with the dish. So we were moved downstairs to a room which was regarded as superior to the previous rooms. The room was decent but smaller than the first room. The first room was the best out of all 4 rooms it had a huge shower while the So called superior room had a bath with a shower. When we looked out the window we could see a wall infront of us which I thought was annoying. The beds were fairly comfortable and the room in general was comfortable. The first day tho no room service came to service the room which I though was very bad form. The food was middle of the road I ordered pancakes of the menu 4 of the mornings and noticed the quality was incontinent as 2 days they were to flowery while the 2 other days they were absolutely gorgeous. Half the crossoints were fresh and the other half were old. The bacon was left there for 2 days I recon as it was quite hard. Room keys stopped working neumourus times and had to get them fixed. One time I spotted 2 staff members running after each other which was so unprofessional and I also spotted one sitting on the ground in a small side room of reception. The days room service came they came at about 5pm which was late. One of the days a shutter came down outside our window for about 20 minutes which was very random and made me feel like it was a prison. On the first night there was guests running down the corridor making noise at one stage. Overall I thought it was fairly poor considering it was relatively expensive compared to other hotels I have stayed in. Would possibly stay in the future if it improves.

I almost never write such harsh reviews about a hotel, but here I am. Let’s start with the positive: the location was excellent, only 5 mins drive to Shannon Airport. I came with the impression that it would be a great spot for the night before an early flight. Boy, was I wrong. First of all, I specifically requested a quiet room through booking.com as I had to get up at 3 for my flight. I couldn’t have been closer to the lobby, I was practically in the lobby with screaming children running up and down the corridor all evening. Then, at around 2 a.m., as I was on the ground floor being next to parking spots, I was woken up by somebody enjoying their techno music on full blast outside my room. I doubt this room was their most quiet room they could give me. Next, the room itself. I wanted to order room service and the phone did not work (I tried everything, the problem wasn’t me🤣). I walked down to reception where I felt like I was interrupting a very important business meeting between the receptionist and the manager. I told her my issue and she offered to take my order for room service at the desk, but my phone in the room was still not working, she never offered any solution to this. The food from the Old Gastro Pub was fab, probably the best thing about the trip (It came super quick and for the price it was a huge portion.). The bathroom is extremely run-down, the temperature control in the bathtub was falling off, I was too afraid to touch it. One of the cups for tea and coffee had huge sticky stains inside (thank god I noticed at 3 a.m. in my state😟) Bed was ok, the bedroom part was nice at least. For the cherry on top, I informed reception at check-in that I would be leaving very early, so I presumed there would be night porters at least at the desk to check me out. Instead, there were 3 drunk fellas staring at me in the lobby. I wasn’t surprised at all at this stage whatsoever. Coming from someone working in the hospitality industry, I would not recommend this hotel if you want some rest before a flight or if you have any specific requirements as these are easily overlooked.

Dear dorinab796 Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. I’m truly sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations and that you encountered multiple issues during your visit. While I’m pleased to hear you found our location convenient for Shannon Airport and enjoyed the food in our Old Lodge Gastro Pub, I regret the disruptions to your rest, particularly when you had an early flight. We always do our best to accommodate requests for quiet rooms, and I sincerely apologise that we fell short on this occasion. I will be reviewing our room allocation process to ensure this is better managed in the future. The challenges you faced with the room phone, cleanliness, and bathroom maintenance are unacceptable, and I want to assure you that your comments have been shared with both our housekeeping and maintenance teams. Immediate action has be taken to address these concerns, as this is not the standard we strive to deliver. I’m also very sorry for the experience you had during check-out. A night porter is typically available for guests leaving early, and I will personally investigate why this was not the case during your stay. We genuinely appreciate your feedback, as it highlights areas where we need to improve. If you would be willing to give us another opportunity in the future, please contact me directly, and I would be happy to ensure your next stay is seamless and comfortable. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts. Kind regards John Gavin Owner/Director

Front desk staff were wonderful to change our rooms to a more quiet location, as we were getting up and leaving early. Clean hotel. Great location close to the airport. Rather easy to get into/out of, but parking was limited.

Came to this hotel to rest as my family and I are doing a road-trip around Ireland to find out the bar at the hotel is open until 12.15-30 AM playing very loud music. The room my grandparents were given was just above the bar and they could hear the music as if they were there and their room floor was even vibrating from it!!
We went then to reception to see if they could give another room as they are elderly people and sleep early enough, but we were told they were fully booked and there was nothing they could do. The bar is part of the hotel, how could they not have a soundproof bar having rooms just above it where people try to sleep? I have seen reviews now from 2019 where people were saying the same thing, so this has obviously been happening for a while and they have been ignoring it for years.
They then said they could relocate us to a sister hotel in Limerick which is 20 minutes from this one! So, apart from all the driving we already did, they wanted us to drive more in the night to go to another hotel? We were 15 people!!
The receptionist Sophie was very nice, but this is a very big managerial problem.
If you are travelling and want to have a nice rest after a long drive or a long day of sightseeing, this is not the place for it, you will have a disco under your room.

Dear 28lisar Thank you for taking the time out to review us. Please accept my sincere apology your grandparents were allocated a room over the bar area. We as a team here will review our allocation procedures at the front desk and do our utmost to ensure this doesn't happen again. Kind regards John Gavin Owner/Director

I have never stayed in any hotel other than Bunratty Castle Hotel in Shannon. Shannon Springs Hotel didn't disappoint and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of a small hotel. The staff was very accommodating, rooms upscale, nice breakfast. The only thing that was a disappointment was I had to take a cab to and from the Bunratty Castle Hotel area. Otherwise, I would definitely plan to stay here again!

Beat the January Blues and come check out this charming hotel. Just back from a weekend with girlfriends. Very friendly helpful staff from reception to restaurant and bar. Rooms spotless and spacious. En-suite large with plenty of soap & body moisturiser and Shower cap . other items available with a phone call down to reception. Food was tasty and reasonably priced…. €20.00 for a steak sandwich with chips and garlic ciabatta bread…. Coleslaw and salad. Service was efficient and with a happy smile and very helpful waitress who also shared her favourite restaurant in the area. The creamy beside Bunratty Castle. After our Bunratty banquet we decided to have some more liquid in the hotel bar….. and a band started at 10, we were delighted and danced the night away. Slept well in the comfortable bed. Breakfast the next morning was delicious and their sausages are extremely tasty as was the rest of fry up buffet. They also do fresh pancakes … I’m not joking… so delicious ( nicest pancakes ever)…..check out was smooth and my car was waiting for us in the spacious car park…. Would definitely recommend. Thank you Shannon Oaks. And keep smiling

We went to this hotel based on reviews from other people. Little did I know we picked the worst one of the lot. We arrived earlier than expected, chanced checking in earlier but as expected we did have to wait till 3 which we were perfectly fine with and totally understood that the rooms needed to be cleaned to satisfaction. At 3 we collected our keys and went to our respective rooms, I had the executive room which is just a basic room, there was a smell when I walked in first but I brushed it off opened the window and left for the evening. I came back
To freshen up for dinner and the smell had gotten worse, I went down to reception to ask if I could switch rooms or pay for an upgrade, neither was available as they were fully booked, she suggested someone come up with spray. I was fine with that to see if they could at least fix it, I was gone out of the room until 11pm, I didn’t know anyone visited at that stage but when they did they left the window open again and the room was freezing at that stage, I tried to turn on the heating to get it warmed up quickly but it didn’t seem to fire up very quick and could only go to a certain temp. So I just decided to get into bed and maybe I’d warm up there. I got in and it was like sitting on a table it was so hard. The pillows were lovely may I add but the bed was awful. Nah I add we went for dinner in the hotel and while the service was lovely and kind the food was not nice at all, my friend got the pasta and she said it was bland and tasteless, I got the American tapas and the chicken wings weren’t as crispy as my friends were when he had them in his starter, my chips were covered in a Cajun spice that was so dry and dusty that it caught my breath a few times, the ribs were ok but had a weird plastic like substance on the bottom, we didn’t say anything about the food and just paid as the service was lovely and we just didn’t want to make a fuss. I didn’t sleep a wink that night in the room and the next morning we went down for breakfast, my friend ordered a poached egg and scrambled egg, the poached egg was hard and the scrambled was microwaved which was strange for a restaurant. His fiancée got the pancakes, they were crepes and one ended up being extra crispy.
At checkout I mentioned to the new receptionist about the smell in my room not disappearing and she noted it down. I also mentioned the bed being rock hard, apparently it’s preference.
I would not stay here again.
