4 of us had a meeting with coffee and biscuits. From the minute we entered the Foyer, safety from the pandemic came to mind. Hand sanitizer in Foyer, corridors, staff wearing masks, socially distanced tables with perspex sectioning. In our meeting room, socially distanced seating and hand sanitizers on the table. Coffee, Tea and biscuits all ready too. Many thanks Brian, Una and Staff for making us feel so safe at a very difficult time. Keep safe.

We stayed for 3 nights in a good sized family room which seemed to be recently refurbished. Breakfast had a nice selection of cereals, yogurts, fruit salad as well as a cooked buffet. We had dinner each night in the hotel as there didn't seem to be many options around Shannon. Food was very nice and we appreciated the kid's menu which had a grilled chicken fillet burger, pasta and salad included. There's a McDonalds and a pizza takeaway across the road also. Kids loved the movie nights and vending machines. We took advantage of the picnic included in our package for our trip to Inis Oirr and were impressed with its simple but very satisfying contents. The hotel is situated about 10 minutes from Bunratty, 20 minutes from Limerick City and 50 minutes from the Burren/Doolin/Le(a)hinch so fine if used as a base to travel. We had an external door to our room which was very handy as we could park the car right outside our room and access without having to traipse through reception each time.
Couple of negatives - one set of towels was provided, not sufficient for a family of four but extras were provided upon request. Used towels were removed by housekeeping but again, only one set replaced. Delph (plates, bowls, cups) at breakfast dirty, would suggest an upgrade of dishwasher!
Overall a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

This is a wonderful hotel! From the moment we arrived we felt very safe in this Covid19 era. There is a screen between clients and reception staff, sanitizer stations everywhere and ALL staff are wearing masks. Staff are professional and so helpful. Hotel is very spacious and fab decor. We had 2 triple rooms for 2 adults and 3 teenagers. Plenty of space in each room and lovely modern spacious bathrooms. Ate dinner both nights in hotel - delicious and reasonably priced. Hotel is 2 mins off motorway which is ideal for touring around. Highly recommend this hotel - we will certainly be returning.

We stayed in this hotel last week and was looking forward to our long planned family staycation. Was disappointed from the car park. €450 for 3 nights and I considered checking out early. Very run down exterior side door latch broken so anyone can enter hotel day or night bypassing reception. We were very uneasy about this with young children so we put chair against our door at night. Reception was not clean, sockets hanging off walls on the way to our room. Sanitizing stations on the walls (there were 3) empty for the whole stay. Room was large, window broken so draft at night view was disgusting of dirty roof and window covered with cigarette butts which would blow in on the floor when cleaner left window open which I had to pick up before my kids did. Cleaner also left our room open on the latch after servicing so we found it open when we returned that evening. Shower was fine took a while work between scalding and freezing. Room very dated with up cycled furniture painted Grey. Voile on window hanging off. Glass light fitting was thick with dust, had never seen a cloth. Double bed was tiny so uncomfortable for my husband and I. Breakfast was ok, very little choice if you didn’t want a greasy fry and it was very greasy. There is cereal and fruit which is uncovered (during covid) so was uneasy about this. We asked for pancakes for kids as we usually get them in every other hotel and this was not an option. They said they could do French toast and then came back from the kitchen and said no it was now not possible.
We had a nice time because we only slept in the hotel did not eat in restaurant and bar as was so disappointed in hotel. We were looking forward to trying the pizza bar which was advertised in the outdoor area but it never opened.
I would heed the bad reviews as they are true. So so so disappointed. Would love to know what part of the hotel is refurbished? This hotel will be fine for one night if you don’t want ANY luxury or even basic hotel standards.
First time I ever checked out of a hotel where I was not asked ‘how was your stay’. They clearly know it is way below standards and is not a 4 star hotel.
This is a fair review and I could go on but I won’t. Would not recommend at all.

I read so many great reviews of this place before we came but I was really disappointed with our stay there. My first impression was walking in the main doors and getting hit with a smell of fried food like someone was eating McDonald's, but I came to realize after two days that's just the way the front lobby smells. The front desk staff were somewhat friendly but impersonal. I asked about kids' movie night and the woman at the desk was not sure but told me they would let us know. We never did find out. We were put in a family room that was cramped but the beds were comfortable at least. There were brown stains on the carpet and no bathtub which is difficult when you have small kids who don't shower. The shower door was grubby and hard to open and close for an adult, never mind a child. Light bulbs out in the lamps. There was no temperature control other than one window that partly opened so we were very warm during the night. The worst part was how thin the walls were. The first night we were awake until 11 pm hearing neighbors on both sides of us and kids running in the hall. I rang the front desk and they were kind enough to talk to one of the rooms about the noise levels. The second night I peeked out the bedroom door and politely asked a woman if her child could stop running in front of my door because my baby was asleep and was promptly told off by the woman in a very aggressive manner. I would have asked for another room but I get the feeling they put all the family rooms together to give their other guests peace and quiet so there probably were not any others free - I also felt uncomfortable asking because the front desk people had not been terribly friendly when we checked in.
The breakfast was also disappointing - cold beans, cold runny scrambled eggs, hard rashers, yogurt from the Lidl across the street. In the dining room the staff wore masks but nowhere else that I could see. There were some hand sanitizer dispensers but it did not feel like any great effort was being made to maintain health or cleanliness.
I just expected so much more, especially for the price of the place. I"m sorry to say I would not stay here again or recommend it to friends.

Responded 7 Aug 2020
Dear MKoopKelly, Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback on your recent stay, obviously we were very disappointed to read that firstly you did not receive a warm welcome, this is certainly not the feedback we normally get about our front desk team as you can read in other reviews, we had a very big check-in that same day as it was a Bank Holiday Saturday, that is not an excuse but an explanation that perhaps our receptionist was just a little under pressure at the time you checked in to the Hotel. So we do apologise that your check in was not as welcoming as normal. We have had an unprecendented demand for family rooms this year and we have family rooms spread all over the Hotel and not just on the corridor where you stayed as you suggest in your review. We have 3 sets of interconnecting rooms on that corridor so there would have been 3 other families on that corridor as well as your family. We have other family rooms with a bath and again had you mentioned that you would like a bath we could have organised it. We apologise if you were interrupted by other children on the corridor, I believe they were going to the movie night at 7.30pm. At a time when we have so many families staying, I think a little of this is inevitable. We are only sorry that you didn't come down to reception as we do have family rooms in other parts of the Hotel and we could have changed your room had you mentioned it to us. Obviously we would have liked the opportunity to redeem ourselves so that you would have left the Hotel satisfied and not be reading a review after the fact when we are not in a position to rectifiy anything. All of our dining staff wear face masks as do our accommodation staff. Our reception team have a screen in front of them so it is not necessary for them to wear protective equipment. I am not sure who else in the Hotel you refer to as there aren't any other departments in the Hotel that are within 2 metres of guests who would be required to wear masks. All of the bedrooms have been sanitised with Zoono products and we are very aware of the current environment and the need for sanitisation. Everything has changed this year with Covid and the breakfast service is one of the things we have had to address. We are no longer allowed to have an open buffet, everything has to be covered and where we always did have an extensive continential buffet this goes against guidelines. As we have so many families in house we have a hot breakfast which is served in the restaurant from a hot unit. As families all come at the same time, this was introduced to ensure a fast service to everyone. It would be difficult to cook for 150 people who all come down at the same time. Once this period is over we will be reverting to our usual cooked to order brekfast. As it was a Bank Holiday weekend we had to get additional supplies at last minute to ensure that all breakfast items were available to our guests so again I apologise if you were offended by this. We do need to hear this feedback and we take it very seriously. We would love the opportunity to redeem ourselves and would ask that you contact me at una@thshannon.com so that we can correspond directly.

It was a perfect place to stay in our holiday to the Shannon area. Wheelchair friendly in all areas and the staff were incredible with their attention and always around if we needed another drink. The breakfast was very well run with the ability to choose what you wanted but served by the staff so both safe but flexible like a normal buffet. The bar/restaurant was very well laid out with plexiglass dividers between tables as well as good distancing and felt very safe at all times. Staff was young but made no difference as their attention to detail and constant assistance made up for any lack of experience. Perfect environment, excellent food, and excellent drink meant a perfect and relaxing stay and definitely a perfect spot to stage a few days holiday in the Shannon area. Will definitely go their again!

On arrival, we were greeted in an average manner and were told the only time available for us for dinner was 8:30, understandably they were busy this weekend so we waited 2-3 hours for our dinner. When we went for dinner, the limited menu was very disappointing and did not offer much variety so we asked for the regular menu which would would rather pay separately for. They did not have mash which is something that should always be available with dinner, the hotel also did not have multiple of the deserts advertised. They proceeded to bring out my main for my starter and realized this mistake and went to get my correct starter. I was waiting 40 minutes at this stage and still didn’t get any food. They then proceeded to forget my starter and by then it was too late as my partner had finished his food.
We also witnessed a woman sitting alone waiting for her husband to return to the table, whilst sitting there she began to get extremely uncomfortable as a group of 7/8 young people gathered around the table next to her with absolutely no social distancing and no consideration for this woman as they sat directly next to her, all the staff were around and no one told them to move away and we were shocked at this incident.
The following morning we went for breakfast and the waitress serving us served our breakfast with mushrooms which i don’t eat and she asked will she take it back and i said yes please and she widened her eyes in frustration. This is not good customer service and i don’t think it was fair as i had not complained to any of the staff all night. We also called and asked for room service and were abruptly told no without getting the opportunity to even ask for what we needed.
Lovely hotel and many of the staff were extremely pleasant to deal with but disappointing overall.

Dear Zorbrig12, Thank you for taking the time to post a review on your recent stay at Treacys Oakwood Hotel, Shannon. We were happy to read that you liked the Hotel and the staff but disappointed to read about other aspects of your stay. Due to social distancing we have to manage our dinner times, most people who had booked in with us had pre-booked their dinner prior to arrival to the Hotel and therefore not all times were available by the time you had checked in. These are different times that we are dealing with at the moment and we are trying to manage the business to keep within the guidelines. You had booked on the €49.50 package deal which included dinner, a cocktail and a 2 course meal. Everyone else has commented that this is extremely good value for money. All of our dishes are cooked to order and none of them include mashed potatoes on the present menu so we would not have items available that we do not offer on our menu. We received no other negative comments since we have introduced this package, they have all been positive. Our management worked all night ensuring that people kept to their own table and I believe that this was done without any issues on the night you had stayed. Again we did not receive any other complaints on the night. I do apologise that you received mushrooms on your plate for breakfast, our full Irish Breakfast does include mushrooms so they would come as standard. I presume that you did receive your correct order once you had brought it to the attention of our staff, you haven't mentioned if this was rectified so I am presuming that it was. Our check-out time is 12 noon and we were waiting for your room to depart which is why you were not offered room service at 12.30pm when you called down. I believe that you did have lunch in our bar after checking out. Thank you for taking the time to post this review, all genuine feedback is welcomed by us.

Stayed on Saturday night with a B&B plus dinner offer which included a free cocktail each! Excellent from start to finish - food was top notch, room spotless and the staff couldn't have treated us better. Very good social distancing in place and all staff wore masks at all times. Superb!!

Welcoming from receptionist to staff in general however I did find cleanliness lacking especially during these times nothing should be left unturned & when I did push back beds the dirt I found was just unacceptable and I was disappointed ☹️. Menu was limited and on the pricey side for a four star rating hotel you really expect the very best. Breakfast was pleasant your usual Irish breakfast and choice of juices & cereals especially for children. Waiting staff were very friendly and helpful. I found staying in the rooms were noisy as you can clearly hear people staying in the next room especially if they were loud & noisy or had tv on.... they was no privacy from from people looking in as you only had heavy curtains up no nets especially staying on bottom floor. Overall I wouldn’t rate this a 4 star hotel more a 3 star. Comfortable enough stay but it’s very basic really. A better quality of cleanliness needed.

Stayed for one night before Christmas. It is such a lovely modern hotel, and the Christmas decorations around were a lovely touch! The staff were so kind and helpful, the ladies at reception were very nice and attentive. All staff wore face coverings, from what I could see, and there were hand sanitizing stations throughout the hotel. The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable, and I could see the housekeeping staff reguraly cleaning touchpoints around the hotel, which was very reassuring with covid. The young staff in the bar were friendly and did an excellent job. Our meals were to die for! as were the cocktails! ;) Breakfast was a bit hectic, but we stayed at the weekend so that was to be expected, and the girls serving breakfast were just lovely too.
Lovely hotel with even better staff, will hopefully return post covid! :)

Dear Sadhbhnibhroin, Thank you so much for your your kind review. We do put a lot of effort into our Christmas decorations and we added a few more bits this year to make it extra special so thank you for noticing. I am delighted to see your comments about our ladies at reception, our bar and breakfast staff, I will make sure to pass them on. We have taken covid-19 protocols very seriously since reopening and I am very happy to hear that you felt reassured during your stay with us. Our cocktails in Sophie's Bar & Bistro have gone down a treat since the launch of our new menu. We are always adding new creations to the menu so you will have to try them on your next visit. Again thank you for your very kind review and we look forward to welcoming you back to Treacys Oakwood Hotel, Shannon soon. Kind regards Brian McMahon

My husband is a wheelchair user. The room that we stayed in had a wheelchair accessible shower with a shower seat. It was a very big bathroom. The room was a two rooms joined together with plenty of space for a wheelchair. I hope this helps.
Sorry, don't think so.
But it is quite close to the airport. Short journey.
