Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Excellent service, breakfast, willing to go the extra mile for food intolerant people. Good clean rooms, good homely decor and a host who nothing is a bother to help you with. Would recommend and their many rewards are well deserved. Thank you.

Best breakfast in Ireland! Even the coffee was perfect. Such a quaint house. A glimpse into a proper town dwelling on the wild Atlantic way. Des is very friendly and the place is spotless. Would visit again. Loved Clifden. Such friendly folks. Very helpful.

A warm and family place, we were super welcome. Breakfast is very hearty, excellent and varied. For the room, no complaints, the beds are comfortable and the atmosphere and very pleasant. It feels like home. A place to remember.

We really liked the place and the reception was excellent. Our room was nice with nice shower. The beds however were not very comfortable. Our room faced the street and we could hear every sound so if you want a quiet room ask for a room facing back. The salmon I got with my scrambled eggs for breakfast was amazing.

I had a great stay at Ben View House. It's ideally located in the city center. Eileen was very welcoming, the room was very comfortable, and breakfast was delicious. What more could you ask for! Do not hesitate then.

I stayed at Ben VIew House one night last week. I really enjoyed my stay there. The room was very clean, comfortable and pretty. It was bigger than some of the rooms in the catsle hotel and it looked as pretty as the one there. I loved the pancake breakfast with a lot of fruit and maple syrop!! I heard that the owner is 4th generation of the founder of the hotel, but I truly appreciate the current owner's hard work to keep its quality so high. I had an awesome time which made me warm in very quiet and cold Clifden!

I've stayed in B&B's all over Ireland over many years and have never seen a mattress with duct tape keeping it together before! The hosts were surely very pleasant and the antiques were everywhere, but it was like staying at your favorite aunt's house where you don't mind those things so much.
We looked forward to the pancake breakfast for a change, the berries were plentiful but the pancakes were partly burnt!
The linens were very clean, but the furniture was broken, the shower doors didn't close and there were no shades on the lamps. Honestly, they need to get new mattresses and fix things!
Three stars to me says that I'll get a basic room where things work and a decent breakfast.
That all being said, the location was great, the room was quiet at night and the table setting was beautiful - just be ready to think of it as a relative's house, not a B&B.

I stayed in Benview with my family who traveled from Ireland, the UK, and myself from the USA. My sister and niece had been here before and raved about it so why go elsewhere when you can go to the best.

Des and Eileen are little treasures of Clifden with such a warm and fun welcome. Great chat on arrival and super advice about places to eat, routes to take, and full of local knowledge. The rooms are immaculate, and cozy, and have all the things you could want between TV, kettles with tea/coffee, hair dryers, warm blankets, cozy beds, and clean showers/bathrooms. The house is a little gem in Clifden, so convenient for the abundance of local tourist and souvenir shops - lots of classy stores, etc. We got treated like family and made to feel so welcome. The Bayview is in its 96 years and we promised Des we'd be back for the 100th anniversary. I'm pretty sure anyone who stayed once will be back. It really is that good.

The food at breakfast was better than any hotel I've visited around Ireland - the flavors, attention to detail, variety, and abundance. You wouldn't need to eat again till evening (and we didn't!). The Irish mixed grill is a must for anyone who loves their Irish brekkie but the pancakes also melt in the mouth delicious so your kids will be happy (you do get 2 pancakes with your mixed grill too so won't feel left out). Half our party had the salmon with scrambled eggs and were still raving about it hours later!

I'll be heading back to Washington DC on Monday but will be raving about this location to all my American pals who are planning trips to Ireland and who want to do the Atlantic Way and Kylemore Abbey which is also nearby.

First-class service, first-class rooms and food, and warm and friendly people. You can't ask for more. Prices are super reasonable for an overnight so go visit Des and Eileen and tell them Denise From DC said hi!! lol

Is it easy to park a car nearby? Do you have private parking?

Parking is the only downside to Ben View, but we found it to be . just a minor downside. You have to park on the street. Ben View does not have its own parking lot. And, I think we did have to pay a small daily fee to park.
