Ruth gave us such a warm, friendly welcome. As if we were already friends. The room was very clean and really comfortable, with really good quality tea and coffee facilities. The breakfasts were delicious and we had a good choice. All the food is locally sourced and excellent quality. As much tea and coffee as you can drink too. Ruth would be a definite place to stay next time we visit Clifden.

Excellent B&B in Clifden with wonderful and informative hosts with a "musical background" - we only stayed one night but we could have easily spent more time just touring inside the B&B itself and/or around the neighborhood's ruined castle with a view of the sea just across the street and down and around a half mile driveway. The B&B has ample free parking on site and our room was clean and comfortable and had a serviceable shower with plenty of pressure and hot water. In the morning a delicious Irish breakfast is served. Clifden although small has a lot of features that make it interesting and entertaining to walk around. Visit one of the local pubs offering live music and enjoy a refreshing beverage. The B&B hosts can advise you of where to go to hear local Irish music.

My girlfriend and I often stay in AirBnB over actual B&Bs so this was our first experience of a proper B&B together. Ruth was incredibly welcoming and our room was lovely. The rooms are very basic but decorated beautifully and the personal touches and memorabilia around the B&B was brilliant. The bathroom was a bit of squeeze and pretty dated but everything was extremely clean! Recommendations for pubs and restaurants were extremely helpful. The one thing I love about an actual B&B is the breakfast and Ruth & Stuart did not disappoint. We put in our orders the night before and they even had gluten free options which was extremely helpful! I had the full english which was lush, poached eggs were cooked to perfection. Ruth was a fabulous host and I would recommend this absolute gem of a place to anyone travelling to or through Clifden! …

Our stay at the hillside lodge was perfect. Ruth was a warm friendly host greeting us each morning with a lovely smile to start the day. The rooms were clean & comfortable, with a lounge to relax in. Enjoyed being able to take the house dog Treacle with us on the walk to castle ruins. Breakfast was fresh and varied choice for all. 10/10

The best place to stay in Clifden - so central to everything - Stuart was the most friendliest host you could ask for and they have the cutest dog Treacle, would highly recommend and we will be back!!

The location was nice but I now wish I would have found something in town for with the narrow, winding roads I did not think it was safe to walk to town. The rooms and bed were ok; the host extremely friendly. The breakfast was also ok. We stayed here after another B&B earlier in our trip and we would not stop comparing the 2. This was slightly more expensive but the other one so much nicer. Perhaps if we stayed here first, I would have liked it better.

Our Beatles-themed room was cozy and fun without being kitschy, A charming dormer window featured bucolic Sky Road views that felt truly Irish. Some B&Bs offer lounges which vary greatly. Hillside's lounge is stylish with inviting sofas and mellow lighting. The shelves and tabletop hold an impressive variety of music-related books. Our party--two couples--spent a happy time there after dinner chatting and sampling whiskey and chocolates bought earlier in the day. Next day's breakfast, served in a cheerful room downstairs, was inventive and local-fresh. It was easy to walk to the village for a bit of shopping. Parking was free and convenient. Cheers to our Hillside Lodge hosts for creating such a welcoming and distinctive place for travelers.

This BnB is fantastic. Spotlessly clean everywhere. Bedroom decorated really nicely. Bed very comfortable and nice to have feather duvet. Breakfast delicious, top quality ingredients. Very well priced stay. Much superior to some hotels where you would pay double the price. Couldnt fault anything. Thanks Ruth and Stuart.
