When you arrive at Mallmore Country House, you feel like you’re home -- safe and extremely comfortable. That feeling intensifies as your stay progresses and becomes even richer as you get to know Kathleen and Alan and share experiences with other guests. We had the distinct pleasure of staying at Mallmore Country House last September. Having travelled the world staying in B&Bs, we put Mallmore right at the top for our favorite places to stay. If we could give a 6 rating to Mallmore, we would gladly do it. Not only are the rooms clean and luxuriously furnished, but the common parlor is a great place to relax and unwind with tea and biscuits after touring the beautiful Connemara countryside. We had a gorgeous view of the gardens and bay from our stately room and highly recommend that view. The gardens are lovely and worth quietly exploring. We found the breakfasts to be delicious, even the vegetarian options, with the highest marks for Kathleen’s fresh baked scones. Alan was always a delight in helping us decide on places to eat and tour in Connemara. We walked to Clifden for dinner several nights to enjoy delicious food, often accompanied by traditional Irish music. We can’t wait to return!

Beautiful rooms, fantastic breakfasts and hosts who were both friendly and informative. The trip was made extra special by their suggestions of local beaches and walks. The gardens are beautiful too and I would recommend a walk to Bishops Bench at sunset.

Beautifully located location just outside Clifden. The decor is classic with a kind of Downton Abbey atmosphere, very nice. There is also a beautiful garden where you can walk around. The owners are very nice and helpful. Breakfast is fine with a drop down menu. Rooms are nice with nice beds.
Walking to the centre of Clifden takes about half an hour, but the route is beautiful

A very nice old house, a bit colonial with superb views of Clifden Bay. Our hosts were extremely kind and could not do too much to help us. A very good breakfast in the morning and good advice to explore the area.

We stayed at Mallmore Country House for 2 nights in early June. Kathleen and Alan were wonderful hosts. Very welcoming, helpful with places to see, and maps to follow. Their guest book was full of information and helpful tips. It also gave the history of the house. They were very easy to talk with. Their home was immaculate. Our room was very comfortable with a great bed. The view out of the window of our room was wonderful. The room had everything we needed including a comfortable area to sit and enjoy the view. And the breakfast was wonderful, the best french toast that I have had. It was so good I had both days. There was also a sitting room we could use. I definitely would recommend staying here.

Mallmore House was quite possibly our favorite B&B in Ireland. We had almost chosen more expensive lodging marketed as “in Clifden”, but the distance to the stores and shops was negligible. Mallmore House distinguished itself as an older home with character, beautifully situated up a long hill above a horse pasture by the water, barely a mile outside of town. The rooms are large with high ceilings, bay windows, good beds, and en suite bathrooms of respectable size. Even the room by the front door was quiet. There’s a comfortable sitting area with a burning fire, complimentary tea, and books and DVDs to borrow.
Moreover, the atmosphere at Mallmore House is really quite pleasant. Alan and Kathleen are high class hosts – down to earth but cordial, intelligent, and able to give sensible advice to seasoned travelers. Their daughter, Siobhan, served breakfast, and she was absolutely lovely. The breakfasts, themselves, were top notch – smoked salmon of the highest quality, real hot chocolate, tasty French toast with powdered sugar and real maple syrup … easily the best breakfasts we had in our stay in Europe. Definitely recommend this B&B!

My family stayed at the Mallmore House B and B a week ago. We had
a fabulous time. This B and B is elegant and very reasonable. The
hosts are very warm and helpful too. They serve a variety of breakfast
items including smoked salmon. The rooms are spacious and share a
view of the water. Mallmore House is only a short ride to town center too.

If you are traveling to Clifden or the Connemara area, we highly recommend staying at Mallmore House. It's a wonderful B and B!

The nicest Irish B and B we stayed in and an excellent value; the mother and daughter who run this handsome property just five minutes out of the town center are unfailingly warm and helpful, the breakfasts are cooked to order and very good, and the garden setting is delightful. Our room was large, attractive and the bed and chairs were very comfortable and the shower great. We made good use of a sitting rom with tea, books, DVDs and a woodstove. We found this place perfect, and every restaurant suggested to us by our hostesses was wonderful. A very good base for seeing some of the best scenery in Connemara, and a town that provides good dining and fun shops for tourists but does it while retaining its character rather than becoming ticky-tacky. Take our advice-stay here!

We have just returned from a 10 day visit to Ireland (our 4th trip). We stayed for 3 nights at Mallmore House Cottage and all 4 of us agreed at the end of our journey, that this was the best and we would return to stay here for a longer visit. There is also a beautiful B&B, but we stayed in their 3 bedroom, 2 full bath cottage, complete with an open fireplace. The cottage overlooks Clifden Bay, with mountains in the distance, and only a short drive to town. The cottage was well equiped and accomodated 2 couples very comfortably. We spent one night in, cooking a meal, then sitting by a lovely peat fire. There are herbs planted around the cottage and although we didn't see them, the ponies can come up to the cottage. Clifden offered good food, good pubs, good shopping and the area was great to explore. Loved everything about it. Their website is ----.

Our room had a large and well functioning en suite bathroom, and I imagine the other rooms were equally nice.
