When you arrive at Mallmore Country House, you feel like you’re home -- safe and extremely comfortable. That feeling intensifies as your stay progresses and becomes even richer as you get to know Kathleen and Alan and share experiences with other guests. We had the distinct pleasure of staying at Mallmore Country House last September. Having travelled the world staying in B&Bs, we put Mallmore right at the top for our favorite places to stay. If we could give a 6 rating to Mallmore, we would gladly do it. Not only are the rooms clean and luxuriously furnished, but the common parlor is a great place to relax and unwind with tea and biscuits after touring the beautiful Connemara countryside. We had a gorgeous view of the gardens and bay from our stately room and highly recommend that view. The gardens are lovely and worth quietly exploring. We found the breakfasts to be delicious, even the vegetarian options, with the highest marks for Kathleen’s fresh baked scones. Alan was always a delight in helping us decide on places to eat and tour in Connemara. We walked to Clifden for dinner several nights to enjoy delicious food, often accompanied by traditional Irish music. We can’t wait to return!…
We really loved our 5-night stay in Mallmore House and wished we could have stayed longer! The rooms are beautifully decorated and have a sitting area overlooking the pretty gardens and Clifden Bay. It's well worth spending a few euros more for the front rooms towards the gardens instead of the back rooms. Mallmore Country House is situated in a very quiet location so it's perfect for relaxing but it only takes 5 minutes to drive into Clifden. Clifden has lots of great restaurants and pubs and there are many things to see and do around town. The breakfast is totally delicious and in itself worth staying here. But what makes the stay really special is the warm welcome given by Kathleen and Alan. They are wonderful hosts and ensure every guest feels comfortable. Thank you very much for some truly memorable days during our honeymoon! We will make sure to return when we are in Ireland again!…
If you enjoy a home with atmosphere and views, this is the place for you. Only 1.5km outside of Clifden, the house has a great historic (ie late 18c) feeling. Views are wonderful. King size beds and great breakfasts.
My husband and I and our adult twin daughters stayed one night at Mallmore Country House during our self drive tour of Ireland. With its old world charm and grand entrance this B and B was very different to the other B and Bs we had stayed in. The rooms were very spacious, each with a sitting area overlooking the gardens and bay. Quite a lovely view. Situated less than 10 minutes drive to town in a very quiet location. It would take about 40 minutes to walk into town for dinner. If you had the time and energy it would be a very scenic walk. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast cheerily served by Alan. Alan was very helpful in his advise for our ongoing travels. Loved the views from the Sky road. We then went onto Connemara National Park where we had a gorgeous walk in the sunshine. From there we visited Killary sheep farm. Alan recommended a great restaurant for lunch at a garden centre. Thank you Alan.…
This is a one floor B and B with about 6 rooms so it would be great for friends and family traveling together. The road to Mallmore was only one lane - so that added to the ambience. We were welcomed with a cup of tea ( or coffee) in a great room full of antiques. We had a twin room that wasn’t fancy but had a lovely sitting room overlooking the gardens and the bay. Surprisingly they had extra outlets and good WiFi. Our breakfast was the best of the trip- you could have salmon with your eggs and the breakfast room was charming and our host was full of information. If you are coming to see a Connemara rugby match the club is just down the road.
