Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a pleasure it was to stay in Foyle's for the first time. The building may be old style but the warmth of the staff & quality of the restaurant made it a place easy to enjoy. So good was the restaurant, we didn't contemplate dining anywhere else on our second evening. Its great to see a family hotel thriving.

Nice stay, room was old fashioned but fits the property and had everything you needed. Power shower. Restaurant was fantastic for dinner. Food was delicious and well presented. Staff were lovely, breakfast was very nice. Would certainly stay again.

Stayed for a night at this lovely cosy hotel. Wish we could have stayed longer. Service is exemplary, food was excellent. The room was a little dated but can easily forgive them for that as our stay was so enjoyable. The Marconi restaurant is absolutely top drawer. Have reviewed that separately.

Just back from a fantastic weekend break in Foyle’s. What a fantastic weekend we had from start to finish. The staff are without doubt the best people who could not do enough for us, never missed an opportunity to deliver outstanding service and were so nice in how they approached every interaction with us. From the fabulous receptionist, to the restaurant waiting staff to the barmen and the housekeeping staff I give 10/10. Their Marconi restaurant is without doubt one of the best restaurants I’ve been to. Hats off to the chef and his team for the amazing food. We had debated eating in another restaurant in town on our second night but none of our party of 4 wanted to miss the opportunity to dine a second time at the Marconi. We will be back and even mum who made the mammoth journey from Kerry to Clifden at the fine young age of 87 said it was definitely worth the drive! Well done to everyone at Foyle’s. If you’re going to Clifden get

One again we were delighted with Foyles. We got the usual great greeting at Reception, the accommodation was up to spec and then the food - excellent dinner and a quality fresh breakfast. All this with warm, genuine smiles from the staff. In a sea of hospitality indifference, this place is a marker for quality and value. We will be back! Gráinne and Frank.

I just wanted to praise Foyles hotel in Clifden for the immensely enjoyable 2 night stay we had there in early July. The staff, particularly at breakfast time were super efficient, attentive and friendly at all times. Out room was very spacious and comfortable, the full irish breakfasts were delicious and the location right on the main street was perfect. McCafferkys bar downstairs was an unexpected bonus on Friday night with great music and an eclectic crowd along with great folk and blues music performed live. It was a delight to only have to walk 60 seconds to your room after the bar finished up!😁 I'd highly recommend this hotel!!

We are a family of 5 and stayed here for a week; the weather failed us but the team at Foyle’s more than made up for it! We like to explore and sample different restaurants but we ate here 6 out of 7 nights the food was so good: both for kids and adults; flavours were delicious with regular and gifted choice of specials from the chef. This is a family run hotel and the sense of family extends through every staff member; you can feel the staff are valued as much as the customers which makes for a wonderful atmosphere and family experience. Our room was very keenly priced and offered enough space and storage for all 5 of us; we have 3 children 13, 10 & 7 and our experience of family rooms in hotels is normally a fold up bed for the youngest but here: we had 3 comfortable proper beds for all children 🤩 Finally… Mullarkey’s bar downstairs provides world class entertainment; bluegrass; folk, pop… the resident musician can sing anything from the doors to ABBA with his unique twist - incredible! I can’t recommend this hotel enough ✨

Our room to the front of the hotel overlooked the main street; however no street noises interrupted our sleep. The room was large, with a big double bed. The bathroom needs attention as it is a bit old fashioned, with an in-bath shower, and a noisy water system. Nevertheless we did feel comfortable, perhaps it was the warmth of our greeting, or the offer of carrying our cases or indeed the general air of welcome from all the staff, but whatever it was, it worked. We would willingly use Foyle’s Hotel again and will do so.
