Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I had breakfast with my son at the Woodfield Hotel last weekend and a couple of bites into his order of scrambled eggs his mouth started to bleed. I initially thought that it might be something minor, however the bleeding was relentless and continued for 15 to 20 minutes. There was no chip on the glass that he drank from and he didn't put a knife or fork into this mouth, he simply spooned the egg onto his toast and ate it using his hands. I alerted a staff member and advised her that something in my son's breakfast had caused a small laceration inside his lip, she rudely dismissed this as nonsense even though there was clearly blood inside my son's mouth. I questioned if there may have been a sharp piece of egg shell in his breakfast but was again dismissed. The staff member barked that toast or egg could not have caused the bleed, she failed to realise that this could only suggest that there was something more sinister in his breakfast! She roughly broke the egg apart on his plate and aggressively stated that there was nothing in there. At no point did she apologise or even ask my son if he was ok, despite the fact that he was clearly distressed and shaken by the incident. I was truly horrified at how badly we were treated and what atrocious customer service skills the staff member had. I paid for the food that we had eaten and we left but we will never return! My experience with Clifden up to this point has been hugely positive, I have been visiting Clifden every summer for 15 years and this is the first negative experience that I have had.

I had my boyfriends 40th birthday party here at the weekend.. From the day i started organising it, the staff were outstanding.. they went above and beyond to make sure it was perfect.. I went with a country hoedown theme, they allowed me to transform the bar, including bring in bales of hay to fit with the theme.. The barstaff were outstanding and even joined in in the fun wearing their check shirts and dungarees and cowboy hats.. They were very professional but had lots of fun at the same time.. We also stayed in the hotel that night.. rooms are very spacious and spotless clean.. Would defo have another party here.. Thank You so much to The Woodfield Staff.. Yer a credit to the business.

We stayed here last weekend and we wouldn't hesitate to book again. The rooms are spotlessly clean and the staff are so friendly . There's plenty of choices for breakfast and the food was so tasty. Theres a lovely terrace out the back with great views over the water as well.

We stopped in Woodfields for lunch. The staff were superbly friendly; the lunch was served quickly and was absolutely delicious. To top it off, my husband left his new sunglasses there. We phoned and the lovely lady said she’d send them home in the mail for us. Top class - above and beyond- service

We really enjoyed our stay at Woodfield , Clifton last Thursday. It's a very good central location, great value and the staff are so friendly & really helpful. The bedroom was very comfortable & we were also delighted with our evening meal & breakfast. Overall we were just charmed with Clifton, bright & buzzy with so many stunning beaches nearby. Is it too late to relocate?!

A group of 9 adults & children ate there last July on a wet summer's evening. We ate on the covered balcony outside as it was still during lockdown. Food was excellent, big portions, very friendly staff. Would highly recommend.
