We stayed with Paddy and Julia fro 2 nights in September. The guesthouse is located 5 mins walk from the town overlooking the water. That view is constantly changing as it’s tidal so you never get bored of it. The house itself reflects the couples life of adventure as its jam packed with antiques and paintings and curiosities everywhere you look. Absolutely fascinating. A life’s work really. Our room, overlooking the harbour, was really a suite as there was a seating area along with a small kitchenette which we never used as Clifden has fabulous restaurants. Again the decor here was very individual and it was evident that it was done with a passion for interior design. The breakfast was one of the very best I’ve had. The pinhead porridge was so good as was the fish of the day. We ate in Marconi the first night, at Paddy’s suggestion, and it was buzzing. The food was delicious and the place is very atmospheric. The second night we ate in D’Arcy Twelve which again was fabulous though I would say try to get a table downstairs as the atmosphere there is better than upstairs. In conclusion The Quay House is a hidden gem and well worth a visit.

We had a fantastic stay at The Quay House where, along with our two boys we enjoyed a very warm welcome from Paddy and Julia who showed us to a very stylish spacious room with beautiful bedding, paintings, furniture and bathroom. We later sat by the cosy fire in the sitting room again enjoying the amazing furnishings and comfort. The breakfast the following morning was out of this world, fresh juice, delicious lemon almond cake, incredible yoghurt and granola pots, silver tea and coffee pots, a great variety of delicious cooked breakfasts, it was a feast. Although the guesthouse was full everyone was made feel especially welcome such is the hospitality of Julia and Paddy.

We stayed in the Quay House with three older teenage children. The rooms are all decorated with quirky style and are very spacious. Breakfast was amazing and Paddy and Julia were there every morning attending to everyone with such friendliness and charm, as well as offering lots of tips on beeches, walks and places to eat. The location is perfect, a quick 3 minute stroll to all the great restaurants, pubs and nightlife Clifden has to offer. The Quay House also has good WiFi - a must for every teenager. Well worth a visit.

I stayed for 2 nights with my mother. We were given a wonderfully warm welcome by Julia & Paddy. The quay house has an amazing collection of beautiful pictures, animal artefacts and quirky antiques, reflecting Julia’s artistic eye and previous career as an antiques dealer. We were given tea and delicious home cooked brack in one of the several cosy sitting rooms, where you can sink into a comfortable sofa or armchair to read a book in the sunshine, talk to fellow guests or plan the numerous activities on offer locally with Julia.

The home cooked breakfasts are very generous in portion and set you up for the whole day. All served in a very inviting conservatory enabling you to look out across the bay at the sailing boats and seagulls.

In short nothing is too much effort for Julia & Paddy truly exceptional hosts who welcome you into their home. Thank you for a very magical stay. I will be sure to return.

This was our 1st time staying at the Quay House. Julia and Paddy were great hosts and we were made to feel like home. Really good breakfast each morning including fresh seafood if you fancied. We have a great room overlooking the harbour. Plenty of hand sanitizers around and very covid compliant withough feeling like it. Would highly recommend

This is a great place to stay. Julia & Paddy were wonderful hosts, offered us tea & coffee when we arrived & lit the fire in the beautiful sitting room for the occasion. Room was large, bright, with great view of the water. The house itself is beautiful, very quirky & spotlessly clean. Breakfast was best we have ever had in Ireland. Don’t miss it if you are in the area. We wished we could have stayed longer. Grainne & Liam

We returned, as we do annually to the Quay House, this time to celebrate Grandfather's 80th birthday. Paddy, Julia and their amazing staff pulled out every stop to make our stay so memorable. All 3 generations love their rooms and think breakfast in the words of the 6 year old, "its not good, its amazing." All have vowed to go back soon. Thank you all.

As soon you arrive at The Quay House you feel it is special place. Our hosts Paddy and Julia made us feel we were home from home by. We had booked to stay for 2 nights in the mirror room; we would have stayed for the week only our itinerary forced us to move on. The Hotel has buckets of character and is definitely a great place to chill out and relax and is full of family antiquities. The accommodation was spotless, excellent, atmospheric, and spacious. We enjoyed a fantastic, breakfast menu for 2 mornings which included oysters and hake… with champagne. When hopefully we return to Clifden, The Quay House be central to our travel plans in Connemara.

We visited the Quay House for the first time in many years. It has lost none of its charm and Paddy and Julia were, as always, wonderful hosts. The rooms are all beautifully furnished with antique furniture and lovely artwork. They serve a delicious al la carte breakfast in a beautiful conservatory. The location on the old quayside is the best in Clifden, which is only a short walk away. All in all one of our favorite ever places.

Lovely eclectic B&B. Julia and Paddy were very welcoming and accommodating for our early arrival. The room was spacious with a beautiful view of the harbor. Very helpful with suggestions about dining options and things to see in Clifden. Breakfast the next morning was excellent. We were on a bike trip and they were very adept at dealing with cyclist needs.
