Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Perfect family holiday home. Spotless, great base to explore Connemara. Lovely hosts. Everything you require is in the house, great playground on site, very safe environment. Quite area, near Clifden, shops, pubs etc.

I booked it a month before my arrival.. for a nice staycation for my family as it was my brother birthday! I booked it through booking.com I have send an email through booking.com in regards to my dogs ... THE OWNER OR THE AGENT respond it to me that they update it in our reservation We paid for the property Day before our arrival my brother called and confirmed the check in time as I put a different check in on booking.com the agent said that it’s ok and that she noted it on our reservation Day of the arrival my brother again called and asked about the parking spot around 10 am just before we were leaving to get there. The lady said we don’t have a place for you today and that he needs to call booking.com and she hang up I called back and the lady was super rude with me and was screaming at me said she doesn’t care that it’s booking.com fault until I didn’t mention to her that day before it was confirmed and that she just extended someone for one night more and that I know how it works as I’m working in HOTEL’s .. she tried to be nice again but at that point I didn’t care I spoke with booking .con and they found for us better place which the difference needs to be payed by this property as it’s them who made a mistake that lady even stop answering phone calls when booking.com was calling her and she didn’t respond to any emails It’s property number 13 I guess the number is very unlucky for the owners ...

Recently stayed for 1 week at Clifden Glen Holiday Homes (booked through rentacottage.ie) Great house, everything you need. Clean, bright and welcoming. Stayed in number 39 which was great as it overlooked the tennis courts and playground so could keep an eye on the kids from the deck. (number 36 also has a deck which overlooks the tennis courts and playground) 3 bedrooms - 1 double bed, 1 single bed and 1 with 2 single beds. Quiet pub on site for residents with live music once a week (probably only during holiday periods) Tennis Courts, crazy golf and playground and big area to kick a ball. Can hire clubs/tennis racquets, but we took our own. Great location. Clifden town is lovely. Ate out at Guys Pub which was excellent. Drove to Westport an hour away, went on the Killary Fjord Cruise and went to Kylemore Abbey. Beautiful scenery - it is along the Wild Atlantic Way. Drive the Sky Road out of Clifden which is beautiful, go to Coral Strand and pick up some coral off the beach, and drive to Omey Island and drive across to the island when the tide is out. Great Location. Also an hour away from Galway City.

I stayed here some years ago, then I never came back. Why? Although the place is really wonderful, close to Clifden, but far enough to be peaceful, although the cottage was fine, and confortable, I was very disappointed because of the price I was asked to pay for. I didn't ask in advance, because it was the very first time I was asked to pay a surcharge for the elecricity. And I didn't check the meter as well. The surcharge let me astonished: we were two people, and we spent the most of our time outside the cottage, visiting Connemara, Galway and the north of Burren, so we used electricity just for our breakfast and for the hot water. My objections were rejected just letting me see the meter voices registered at our check-in / check-out and the fares applied. My suggestion is to come here, because the place is wonderful, but to ask in advance about extras, and to check the meter when you arrive and when you leave. And ask for farese in advance (I would suggest to do it before the reservation).

a good situated place to stay, everything we needed was there. towels and so on. Reception was friendly, not open all day. Only thing that wasn't good was the matress, it needs to be changed into a new one. Plenty of restaurants nearby, we had dinner at the Station House.

I understand some or all of these houses are privately owned so they're not all of a similar standard. Also, worth shopping around, as we got our house for about €100 a week cheaper by booking through Sykes UK. Good points: - our house, No. 72, was spotlessly clean, well-equipped, beds were comfortable, bathrooms fine, tennis rackets, board games and lots of DVD's provided. - the facilities for families seem to be good, with tennis courts, playground, large grass area, crazy golf, and a bar/lounge are which wasn't open during our visit but opens in July/August Issues: - the decking area in our house had been varnished immediately prior to our arrival. We had no notice of this, and just narrowly avoided tracking varnish throughout the house. The deck took a few days to dry properly - we couldn't use it during this time, which was a pity - an electrical switch near the patio door tripped a fuse. A quick call to the estate manager sorted that out - TV reception was poor and most channels switched off at midnight! - downstairs bedroom really needs a venetian blind or net curtains for privacy! - the walk into Clifden is ok during the day, but for parts of it you're walking on a hard shoulder or stepping onto a grass verge when traffic passes. Certainly not safe for unaccompanied children and, at night, high-viz vests would probably be essential. - No WiFi - most of our issues with the house could have been solved by providing a guest folder with instructions for using the facilities. Overall, pleased with our visit and would recommend families to consider these houses.

We rented a house here for a week and I have to say We thought the house and location was excellent. We had a three bedroom house which was plenty large enough for 2 adults and 2 children. Our children ,11 and 9 yrs,had a great time as they found they could play pool and games in the clubhouse in the evening with other kids staying in the complex while we had great craic in the clubhouse bar playing a few tunes with Tomas and some of the staff and residents. The management and staff run this little piece of paradise in a very friendly way.

Our family of 5 stayed in Clifden Glen for a week recently. We paid €600 for the cottage which we were really looking forward to. When we arrived we were very happy with the location and the facilities weren't looking too bad at all. Our cottage felt damp. The windows were dirty and there were cob webs visible inside. The fire place had broken tiles and the leather sofas had paint splashes on them. The kitchen was poorly equipped. We paid hard earned money for this place and we feel we were ripped off. We didn't have an outside area to sit out in or even the option of garden chairs to bring outside. We were very disappointed which is a shame because Clifden and surrounding areas are very beautiful

Clifden Glen is located a few kms from the city centre of Clifden. It is an arrangement of many older small houses for self catering, but the eqipment as well as the furniture was poor and carelessly done. We stayed there for one week, which was more than enough. Bed was old and shaky, first floor was loud, even some basic equipment was missing. Cannot recommend it at all. Paid 700 EUR a week, was worth not more than 300 EUR.

My husband and I decided to have a few days away and this Hotel offered the best value. We were upgraded immediately to a lovely spacious room at the back of the Hotel. This room featured a gas fire which gave a nice ambience to the room. We had afternoon tea with hot scones served from 4-5 pm and then at 7 pm there was champagne with canapés all with the compliments of the Hotel. Dinner was nice and the staff were very friendly. The only criticism I would have is the price of wine and the bar prices. The Hotel is very dated but don't be put off. It must be a struggle to keep hotels opened this time of year.
