Right in the heart of town but on quiet street. Great sleep and breakfast perfect. Hostess Pauline very welcoming and lovely La Rochelle French charm. Rates very reasonable and have to say I will stay again if ever over that way. Multilingual. French and English.
My mother and I stayed at the Blue Quay Rooms and it superb. Tony and staff could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. Breakfast was hearty and delicious to prepare us for a long day of cycling. Don't hesitate to stay at the Blue Quay!
3 of us stayed at Blue Quay for 2 nights, with 2 of us in a 2 bedroom apartment and the third in a double room. We all really loved Blue Quay. It’s in a great location within easy walk of plenty of restaurants, pubs and shops. The view from the accommodation is fantastic and the decor is bright, fun and interesting. The breakfast was great. And a highlight was the great warmth and hospitality throughout our stay. Clifden and the surrounding area was scenic and interesting. Loved it all
Toby is such a friendly host, and an excellent cook! The scrambled eggs I had here were probably the finest I've had in all of Ireland (after 2 weeks traveling so far). You could taste the butter he used, and they were creamy and flavorful from chives/herbs he added. The French press coffee was also delicious. We were in room #2, overlooking the front street (that was quiet). We loved the little sitting area in a sunny alcove with windows all around - so much so, we never needed the fantastic common area with its cute eclectic furnishings. Location is excellent, with it being off the main pub and restaurant area, but in close walking distance. What a charming place!
Fabulous place to stay. Loved the decor and the breakfast was so good. The manager Toby was very helpful and friendly. It is placed in a beautiful setting in lovely little town. There are lots of shops and pubs close by and private little coves a stone throw away. This is a great place to stay for a fun, relaxing break 😊
I stayed here with my friend Ron in mid October. We wanted to take it slow in the countryside for a few nights after flying in for a Dublin wedding. We never dreamed we would get so lucky as to find the Blue Quay. Toby and Pauline were the best hosts you could possibly imagine, and every detail of the stay was exquisite. I can't possibly recommend this place more highly. I dearly hope I will be able to stay there again sometime soon.
Toby, Pauline and Tom. Thank you for the incredible hospitality and all you did to make our visit so wonderful. I highly recommend the Blue Quay and Clifden as a base for exploring the lovely Connemara area. I hope to return next September!
We were so lucky to stay with Pauline and Toby last weekend. They couldn’t have been more accommodating. Lovely rooms, delicious breakfast, gorgeous setting, wonderful people! Highly recommend Blue Quay Rooms!
Clean comfortable and quite reasonably priced. Stayed here after mountain walk. Proximity to downtown businesses and restaurants ideal. Extraordinary and accommodating breakfast. Beautiful family run business.
We arrived in on a Monday and wondered at first if it was closed but then the host answered the door with a beaming smile and informed us he had been on nappy changing duty. Toby couldn’t have been more accommodating and pleasant as he showed us to our room. I had stayed here several years ago but the place seemed to have had a facelift. We had a decent sized room with a fab en suite. It seemed cold at first, despite being August , but when we got back later it was roasting hot as Toby had put the heating on ( it was 12 degrees at night ). We stayed 2 nights in probably the most comfortable bed in a B n B that I’ve ever known. The next morning Toby’s brother was on breakfast duty as Toby had gone to get his jab that day. All we can say is that it was one of the most delicious and tastiest ever and set us up for the day. The next morning was just as good if not better with Toby at the helm. Toby gave us lots of information about what to do locally and was on hand whenever needed. No TV in the room but I actually thought that was a good thing as generally you don’t visit Connemara to watch the box. There was a tv in the spacious lounge if needed. One section of the place had a separate area for making tea and coffee and also a small fridge which was really handy to keep out bottle of wine cool ! Clifden itself was a little bit disappointing as 3 restaurants were closed due to the covid and we couldn’t get into the only bar open, again covid restrictions on numbers. However we were sorry to leave on the Wednesday. Toby had been a fabulous host. Full of friendly chat and info. The place was warm and comfy, the breakfast unbelievable. Definitely stay there again as great value. Ignore everywhere else. This is the best.…
