This was a great bed and breakfast. The host was so friendly and offered us tea and a snack each afternoon. The breakfast was great, limited choices but that was a good thing. The room was nice and airy plenty of room and lots of storage space. It was out last few nights on the rode and it was nice to have the extra room to organize our suitcases for the end of our Ireland adventure. The view from the room and the sunroom was breathtaking. We would stay here again.

Grove Farm House shows it can be done! I had a nice, really clean room, comfortable bed, and a great breakfast in a lovely period dining room. The eggs and tomatoes were from the farm. The coffee was freshly made.
Full marks from me!

This was an awful experience. I needed to check in later than posted so I sent an email to ask if getting in after 10 was an option. I never got a response So I found a different hotel for the late check in and booked Grove Farm for the next day through Expedia. I had a confirmation from Expedia for August 12. The woman who runs this place came out at me like a snake saying we were supposed to be there the night before. And she had given away the room we had booked. So here we were in a small village in Ireland with no place to stay. She just kept belittling me even after I said there had been a misunderstanding. Luckily people at a pub in the village helped us. I would never stay in a place where someone could be so hateful to a total stranger and leave them without a place to stay.

Hi Just after seeing this review. This lady booked for two nights in august. There was no problem checking in late but never showed up. I emailed her the following morning but no reply. When they arrived after nine oclock on saturday night I had no room for her as I had not heard from her, showed her the email I sent to her but she did no want to see it. I offered to get accommodation for her but she declined the offer so what was I to do ? They drove in a huff

Comfortable bed, quiet, excellent breakfast with top class quality ingredients. Friendly atmosphere. The setting is very scenic in a rural area set rolling hilly countryside. Easy to find with google maps.

The Grove Farm House is by far the most unpleasant of lodgings I have ever has the mispleasure of staying in. We attempted to check-in between 7:30 and 8 pm on a Friday but were unable to do so as Nellie, the owner, had a party to attend and would not be back until 11:30. After some negotiation we arranged to check in after 9:30. We had dinner in a local restaurant and arrived at 10:30. We were shown to our room by the owner's son and advised that last breakfast was served at 8:30am (on a Saturday). Again after negotiation we managed to agree on 9 am.
When we arrived at breakfast we were berated for our late check in and advised that Nellie's son had missed the start of the party with Fr. Grace. We were also advised that the B&B owners "have lives too you know." We were informed that we were in the wrong room and would have to move. We were shown to a room with two single beds, each with one pillow which was as soft as a concrete block. While the goings-on were somewhat amusing at first, they soon lost their comical value.
On Sunday morning, our friends who had also stayed the previous night, were denied breakfast at 9:30 and also incurred the wrath of the owner. I was repeatedly shouted at for not having vacated the room at 10:30am.
The pinnacle of the Grove Farm House experience was driving out the gate of this God-awful place.
I often stay in B&Bs as they are usually very homely and welcoming, but they are also businesses and the owners must remember this. Customers must be treated with respect and not contempt. Might I suggest that Nellie's forte does not lie in the services industry.

We stayed for 3 night here and found Nellie to be very welcoming. The immediate feeling was one of relaxation and comfort. The house is very tastefully decorated, warm, comfortable and peaceful.. Just a short drive into Kilkenny & Waterford and surrounding areas makes it a good spot for the best of both. The breakfast is the Best in the West, has to be tried.........

My family and I had a lovely stay at this B&B. It was a relaxing and serene home to return to after spending the day touring southern Ireland.
The farmhouse is set in the lush, green countryside but is still within easy driving distance of Kilkenny, Wexford, and Waterford. The nearby village of Inistioge looks like something out of a postcard. It's off the main roads so our GPS couldn't locate it, but Nellie gave us good directions and there were multiple signs so it wasn't hard to find.
The house has been in the owner's family for 200 years. It has all the charm of a beautiful old Victorian home and all the comforts of a modern B & B. The place was clean, the beds were comfortable, and breakfast was tasty. The one downside is no Wi-Fi.
The owner, Nellie, was so friendly. We called late at night looking for a last minute place to stay, and she was so accommodating. She even gave us a discount for staying three nights. She was the epitome of Irish hospitality.

We stayed for one night in an ensuite room and it was enough! Hospitality was at a minimum for a service in the tourism industry.
We were down for breakfast 10 minutes late (last breakfast at 9.30a.m.). We walked into the dining room and there was another couple finishing their breakfast, and Mrs. Cassin in the kitchen next door. The couple had left and Mrs. Cassin didn't even bid them goodbye or clean their table until a good 20 mintues later. We helped ourselves to the juice and yoghurt that was already being served in the meantime, knowing we were definately ignored.
When she finally came in the greet us, we were immediately told we were VERY late for breakfast without any offer of tea, coffee, or even toast. She also commented that we had arrived back from a wedding in Thomastown late the night before. Furthermore, we were informed that check-out time was at 10.30a.m. and to remind another couple we knew who were staying there as well.
Overall I was greatly dissapointed and would not recommend this accommodation to any travellers.

Grove Farm House lies only a short distance from Inistioge, one of Ireland's prettiest villages. Situated just off the R700 Inistioge to Thomastown road, this B&B is a 200 year old Georgian home in a quiet rural setting, offering scenic views, and is a million miles away from any traffic noise. My wife, two adult daughters and I had the pleasure of staying there on 23 and 24 June 2006 while we visited relatives in the area. Everything about our stay was excellent. Our two rooms were well appointed with en suite bathrooms. The sun room and sitting room were comfortable, the latter containing antique furniture. The breakfasts were varied and appetizing. Our hostess Nellie Cassin provided exceptional hospitality. It was only a 5 minute drive to Inistioge and its several high class restaurants, and a little further to the famous gardens of Woodstock House. This B&B is suitable for an overnight stay, but is best enjoyed if a few nights can be spent there.
