Detailed Reviews
Thanks Patricia (and Bella the feline boss) for a unique weekend experience in your well loved ancestral home, speckled with your art throughout. Our family of 10 adults, 3 children and a dog had freedom to roam the farmyard and do the woodland walk and onto open hillside. No need to move cars from when we arrived to leaving, with late checkout. We were welcomed like visiting relatives not weekend guests. The spacious conservatory and its facilities were well used by all the family during the day and a perfect place to enjoy our late night drinks(brought our own) and noisy board games without disturbing sleeping children, adding to the good value. Breakfast and dinner may have been later than usual but sure was gourmet standard. Bringing us back in time being called to dine by a going, eating using cutlery and delph suited to your 260 year old home. The rooms each had a unique antique style, but not all ensuite. We were drawn into the slow relaxed lifestyle, the perfect place to unwind and chill out, without TV and safe to allow small children and the dog to run about. We plan to be back.

+1
Just a wonderful peaceful unique place with a superb host/chef in Patricia. We stayed in the barn. Upon entering I just fell in love with the accommodation. A large beautifully decorated main room with so many of Patricia’s amazing paintings all around, comfy settees and wood burner in the corner. A shower and toilet of the main room. The bed was up the spiral staircase and we collapsed into it exhausted each night. The walks around Patricia’s lane were superb - even got up and close to a fox. Breakfasts were a perfect start to the day and we ate dinner with Patricia one night which was a fantastic delicious 3-course meal. All made by Patricia herself. Highly recommend her cooking! The gardens around the property are peaceful and lovely to dander round with some gorgeous shrubs. I could have stayed forever however we unfortunately had to leave however we will be back. Just a wee touch of heaven here and great craic with Patricia

We visited Cullintra house to celebrate a birthday. We had an utterly brilliant time.
We were fortunate to stay with 12 others who were also going to the birthday so it’s totally fun to be able to enjoy this huge beautiful place with your friends.
I was lucky enough to stay in the barn which is heated by a log burner. The house is in the country so once lights are out, it’s quiet and dark. I have never slept so well. The shower was great, warm, with good pressure.
There are no kettles in the room but there is a beautiful conservatory with a piano and a galley kitchen which we used to play music, games and drink. It was stunning at night and again kept warm by a log burner
Patricia is unique (as we all are) and even though it is a b and b it is also her home. If you are looking for something slick and predictable don’t come here. You will be given the breakfast she wants to cooks for you (very well) and you will enjoy it. She will do it for you on her time. She cooked for 14 of us single handedly and it was delicious. She bakes home made bread for breakfast and it was absolutely knock out.
Her home is decorated with all of her paintings and personally I loved her use of colour. We had a brilliant time, thank you so much. We didn’t have dinner there but from the reviews it sounds yummy though I am not great at eating late so might give it a swerve.
I can imagine why some people don’t like the hospitality that Patricia offers but I thought it was absolutely superb and hope to come back one day soon.

The host Patricia welcomed us to her country home and offered a choice of bedrooms, one in the main house and two in the converted barn. These two were quirky and quite charming, however both had a musty air and spiral stairs to the beds which didn’t appeal. We choose the ‘deluxe’ room in the house. We were disappointed that the double bed was a small 4ft./120cm size, the mattress was poor, and I was concerned about potential allergy issues with the old feather pillows. The ensuite bathroom was tiny. Patricia also told us that she preferred payment by cash. After a poor night’s sleep, we decided to leave next morning, despite being booked in for two nights, and to forego breakfast to drive to New Ross for cash. Full payment of €240 was expected, we were not aware that the price for one- or two- nights stay is the same, €240. While this country house may appeal to some as a ‘destination’ stay, it was not for us.

A beautiful 18th cent house but on arrival we were put in a converted outhouse with warped doors that really wouldn't close..like a 2cmm gap to the outside. Hairs on the sheets. Spiders everywhere. Breakfast not served until after 9.30 but you cannot get away from the landlady, and while a bit of that is ok, this was ridiculous. We were charged 10€ each more per night because we had booked through b&bireland and not direct..her Policy. Dinner €30 each a night..for curry and fruit salad.

Don’t quite know what to think, loved it and hated it! It was odd but also interesting however we would never return!
We seemed to arrive at the wrong time and caught Patricia by surprise as she wasn’t as she said herself dressed appropriately. We were shown a bedroom and our silence said it all to each other. We chose the barn. If you like to find many black beetles this is the definitely the place for you. My husband even found one inside his pillow case. The shower did not turn on. We had a log stove in the room which was a treat and we managed to sleep.
The dining experience was both a joy and an ordeal. The dong went off at 9.30 but we had to wait an hour between each course, we ended dinner at 12.00. We hinted we were dying for some wine but it was a hassle to get any wine at all. One poor couple had to just accept a bottle of non alcoholic wine, we were lucky that we got a real bottle of wine which was delicious but we felt bad as Patricia said a few times that this bottle had been a present. My husband can verify that the food was very good, but I was completely put off and couldn’t eat anything. We had a lovely night chatting to the other guests and a chuckle at the eccentricities and it was a funny experience.
However one should definitely read the reviews (unlike myself) prior to booking. Having said that I can see from the positive reviews that this experience has pleased many guests. We had such a giggle last night reading through the more traumatised reviews and there were definitely elements of those in our experience. Would I not go ? No I’m glad I had the experience at Cullintra House as the hilarity of it will always give us a good laugh. The fact that one of the cats was her daughter was strange but endearing and I wish Patricia well.

My family and I had a wonderful time in Cullintra House! It is on beautiful grounds with a lovely walk up to a 4,000 year old Cairn at the top of the mountain on Patricia’s farm. My kids loved having the freedom to roam the grounds. Patricia is an amazing cook and everything is homemade, including the bread and jam. The house is cute and the outside conservatory is such a fun place to hang out. The house has a nice garden too. This is not the place for you if you want all mod-cons and a power shower but it is a wonderfully relaxing, unique place with no Tv etc.

We brought our daughter with us to Cullintra House on our visit to Ireland (she was studying abroad in Dublin for the semester and needed a little R&R). We stayed for two nights. Our daughter said she would have loved to stay longer so she could spend more time reading in the big armchair upstairs! The house was peaceful, and the acres of attached countryside were stunning and magical. Its a 250 year old farmhouse and they raise cattle so it isn't for those who need pristine conditions. The home is fascinating, and the owner's company and food were delightful. (Bring your own alcohol, I believe). The owner is also an artist and sells her lovely art pieces-including landscapes, so you can take a piece of the Irish country side, painted by a real Irish artist home with you! We felt very lucky to have had the honor of the experience of being guests at Cullintra House. We hope to visit again!

We absolutely loved our stay at this property, its perfect for getting away from the stresses of city life. The host, Patricia was amazing and very welcoming. Breakfast was cooked to perfection every morning. The house itself has a wonderful feel with many paintings created by the host. I would recommend this accommodation to those looking for a complete escape, with many wonderful walks around the countryside. The rooms were very comfortable and generous. There is also a wonderful place to gather outside. A converted outbuilding equipmented with a roaring fire and a piano. Which may i add was tuned to concert pitch.

Having visited Cullintra House many times in the past I found the setting for this lovely old Georgian house as magical as ever, and Patricia's welcome as warm as ever. There are wonderful walks on your doorstep, including trails from the house leading to some of the best views in Kilkenny and connecting with the loop walk of Mount Brandon. Cullintra is also a marvellous base from which to explore this beautiful part of the country.
