Long quay house was built in the 18th century and is a Georgian house it has several features that are from that era like the limestone arch entrance to the arch continued in the hall area. The rooms are spacious with wooden shutters also common in that era. We do not have a lift but we are always at hand to help lift luggage up and down stairs for you. The property overlooks the inner harbour and marina and is ideally located for exploring Kinsale’s historical buildings and tourist attractions all of which are within a few minutes walking distance as are the many pubs and gourmet restaurants. Also ideally situated for the yachting, angling, diving and golf enthusiasts, Kinsale’s 2 golf courses ( 2 eighteen hole) are only a short drive away. Close to Long Quay House are various attractions like Charles Fort, Desmond Castle, St Multose Church, Court House, Boat trips, and all in walking distance of all of Kinsale’s famous restaurants, bars, shops and other amenities.

Detailed Reviews
We stayed several nights in the Long Quay House and thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The authentic Georgian house has been furnished sympathetically and the Jr suite was spacious and comfortable with a nice seating area overlooking the Quayside and marina, great views and very relaxing The bathroom was well equipped with a wonderful shower and spotlessly clean. Many Covid measures in place and routines adhered to which was also comforting.
Peter is a cheerful host and provides lots of information on eateries in the town and spots of local interest. His wife Rasa is a great cook ……. the breakfasts were amazing …… I highly recommend the fresh fruit salad with the creamy yoghurt pot, whilst my husband raved about the Full Irish!
The hotel is conveniently placed at the heart of the town and parking opposite the hotel was very handy.
Kinsale itself was a delight ……… amazing eateries and a great choice of scenic walks right on the doorstep. Many lovely craft and artisan shops also …… we can’t wait to return to Kinsale and we’ll definitely be returning to Long Quay House

We started our Irish road trip with a three night stay at Long Quay House, and what a way to start! This B&B is a Georgian property which has been very sympathetically decorated, looks beautiful inside and out. We were lucky enough to have room 8 on the top floor overlooking the inner harbour - across the road is a handy car park and the town itself, so the location couldn't be better but was also quiet at night. The owners and staff were all so friendly and welcoming, the room was spacious, comfortable and spotless, breakfast was consistently great (homemade jam a real treat!) - you really couldn't ask for anything more!

This hotel lives up to its excellent reputation. It is quiet, comfortable, & nicely furnished, with a delicious breakfast in a pleasant room on the harbor. The hosts are attentive, and so helpful they called my husband's U.S. number immediately to report that I had left my velvet jacket hanging in the closet, so I had time to come from the airport and retrieve it, and still make my flight. The lack of a large lobby or cafe makes it Covid safe and quiet, but it does have a small common room, and good Wifi. You won't miss the absence of a restaurant -- the most excellent seafood chowder awaits you at nearby pubs and restaurants. I had a quiet garden room at the back, number 1, as the hotel was filled. If I went back I'd get a sea view room, though I really didn't miss it, because you walk out the door and you're right on the harbor. The bus stop nearby takes you to Cork airport and city; while a smaller shuttle bus takes you to Clonakilty and a number of other interesting places.

We had a great stay in Long Quay house for two nights in July. The owner is lovely and really attentive, was happy to help in anyway. He also has everything in place in terms of Covid guidelines to make guests feel comfortable. The location is brilliant, right in the town centre. Our room was nice size, extremely clean and v quiet. The shower in the bathroom was nice and powerful which makes a difference in the Irish weather. The breakfast was super, as was the coffee and set us up nicely for the day ahead. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

An unexpected event led me to the Long Quay House. My husband was taken to the University of Cork Hospital for ten days. The Deasey family Peter, Rasa and Karoliss made me feel like family. Helping me out with everything I needed including paperwork, phone numbers and taxis,
Breakfast menus had a great variety of items to choose from. Food was hot and outstanding delicious.
My favorite room was the front room where you could see the people walking outside but they couldn't see you. Ut was very quiet. Jovita a family member made my husband's evening delightful by making sure he had some cookie which he loved.

The hotel is in a great location, opposite the harbour, with free parking a five minute walk up the street. The hotel was charming, well maintained - Peter and Rasa the hosts obviously take pride in their property.
The room was as expected - clean, quiet and comfortable. There is a guest lounge to chill out in.
Breakfast was ample, cooked to order and Jolita could not have been more attentive to ensure that the guests were satisfied with the service.
Peter and Rasa were friendly and very helpful, providing advice and direction and carrying the suitcases up to the rooms.
We were very happy with our stay and have no hesitation in recommending the hotel.

We stayed at the beautiful Long Quay House for two nights. It is a gorgeous Georgian building located right in the heart of Kinsale, overlooking the harbour/marina. Our room was very comfortable and tastefully decorated. The staff were extremely welcoming, friendly and they went out of their way to ensure we were looked after very well. All Covid measures were in place to keep everyone safe. Breakfast was exceptional. 10 out of 10. We feasted on great coffee, fresh fruit with yogurt, full Irish breakfast which consisted of high quality, local produce (photos included). It was devine ... our compliments to the Chef. Long Quay House sets the standard. I would highly recommend. Thank you to Peter and the whole team for a wonderful, relaxing stay.

The location is lovely in Kinsale. This is a very charming place and everyone was very helpful in helping bring our luggage in & out & finding parking. The breakfast provided was very good. As a person who worked for years in customer service, it is a bit lacking. I booked a king suite and this was definitely not a king bed. The breakfast was lovely but there are signs posted like “Please do not waste” on the continental breakfast bar (who feels the need to post this?), or charging for a “to go” coffee (you have the machine, let your GUESTS use it). Signs in the bathroom and room for basic info “do not wash clothes in sink” or relating to the electrical difference between Ireland and other places (yes, clearly our plugs will not be usable here).

Response from peter deasy, Owner at Long Quay House
Responded 1 Jul 2024
I’m operating my business for over 30 years, and I never came across something like that. Someone racketeering for money through the email. You checked in to the room, you slept in the bed, we met you on the check out and you said nothing about what you have mentioned in your complaints. Regarding Signs,I find it so irrelevant as every sign is for a reason. People put the washing lines in the bedrooms to wash and dry their clothes, we have sinks blocked after washing items in the sink so that is the reason for that sign. In Ireland We have a different electric current that is why we let guests know that to avoid the disappointment of burning your personal items for example a phone which would be a big expense or even a laptop. I put the note on my jam not to waste it because I cook it for people who really knows about it and appreciates it and wants to try it as we all here are about sustainability, and I don’t charge for it, I do it because I want people to try something good and I take time to make it. Nobody stopped you having as much coffee as you want, there is the sign there that if you want a takeaway coffee, it’s available. The king size bed is the kind size bed, not smaller not bigger! If you want, I can personally measure the mattress you slept on and include in my reply! Your negativity will make us stronger but won’t help you through life. See below this is what I received from you in your email directly to me : Hello! We enjoyed our stay at Long Quay House. I do however want to express to you that we did not have a King bed. Please adjust any cost differential. Enjoy the week! THIS WAS MY REPLY TO YOU Hello Heidi , Thank you for you email. all the measurements and sizes of beds and rooms are in Irish measurements not other countries So if you would like I can send u a video or picture showing the bed that you slept in is an Irish king size bed. I would recommend to check before you book in future so you will not be disappointed . Then this was your reply to my email that I sent you Thank you for clarifying. Every other place we have stayed in during this trip to Ireland has been an actual king size bed-perhaps the other owners in Ireland are using acceptable hospitality standards when advertising. Thank you for the response. Then you went on TripAdvisor to leave your review and voice your concerns. Thank you and God Bless you

Though Long Quay House is in lovely setting, opposite the water, I did not find it particularly inviting. Run more like a small hotel than a B&B, with a front desk, the property is posted with large, unattractive signs warning guests that this closet is strictly private or that area off limits. Further, the in-room guest folio includes a list of fees that guests must pay for an extra towel or pillowcase or other linens. Granted, the breakfast room was lovely, with a nice selection to choose from, but the overall experience was not reflective of Irish hospitality.

Beautifully remodeled home right in the heart of town. There's a public parking lot across the street, which may or may not be free (there's no charge on Sundays or overnight, but there is during the weekdays - we got lucky that the machine wasn't working when we arrived). Everything in town is within walking distance, and there's some wonderful pubs and restaurants to choose from. I think our favorite was Kitty O'Sheas. The bed was comfortable, and there was an extra blanket and pillow in the wardrobe. There was also a hair drier and a fan. The bathroom had a large shower with plenty of hot water and a nice towel warmer. The rooms have all been updated, however, the carpet has been laid over dips in the flooring, which could be a trip hazard for someone (there was a large dip right outside our bathroom). We had a nice seating area with a desk & chair, plus 2 small club chairs and a small table. At the end of the hall is an addition with recliners & couches, bookcases filled with books and a TV - it's a comfortable place to relax. Breakfast in the morning was fresh and delicious, with plenty to choose from. The only downside, really, is the parking - if you drive anywhere, you'll probably lose your spot and it might take a bit to find another.

There's nothing on site, but there is easily accessible parking. There are a few free on street spaces right across the street in addition to the car park that charges during the day. When we went, in early October, there was at least one free spot available whenever we wanted to park. When we first arrived, the owner was nice enough to go outside and stand in a spot to make sure no one took it as we were turning the car around to go park it.
