We spent one night at Danabel B&B in April, while touring in ireland.
Our host took the time to share some recommendations to enjoy our stay in Kinsale, she gave us restaurants and bars as to enjoy traditional Irish music.
The room was comfortable, clean and calm.
Cash only payment, rather contact the host directly.

Stayed for one night only while visiting Cork. Great location. Only a short walk to centre of town. Very quiet residential area so a peaceful nights sleep. Great breakfast with a great selection. Phil is a lovely lady. Great value. Would recommend if you are passing through.

We loved the location of this B&B -- walk down a little pedestrian walkway and you're in the heart of Kinsale. The room was very clean with a comfy bed, but tiny! Just a bit of room to walk around the bed -- no where to set your luggage! The view from our window looked out over many roofs and trees, but we could see the tiniest bit of the harbor. The bathroom was clean but tiny and a little outdated. The biggest trouble with the room was that we couldn't get anything but piping hot water from the shower! We ended up skipping the shower altogether. Breakfast was fine and Phil was polite but not exactly friendly. Maybe we caught her on an off day.

Positives - room was clean, good location for town centre and breakfast was nice.
Negatives - very dated small rooms, over priced for the quality (cash only payments) and found the owner Phil unwelcoming and sometimes abrupt. Always had extremely welcoming owners at other Irish B&Bs so was disappointing.

Would we stay again or recommend.. No.

This is a great bed & breakfast that sits on a hill within walking distance of the downtown if you can make it up the hill after a visit to one of the pubs in town. It is run by a woman named Phil (Philomena) who keeps the place spotless. She serves a great breakfast, and is a gracious hostess with lots of good ideas for your stay in Kinsale.

We would definitely stay her again.

Danabel on Featherbed Lane, Sleaveen area of Kinsale, is elegant with cloth napkins & printed menus at the delicious daily Irish breakfast with so many choices. Phil (Philomena) Price was consistently gracious & helpful. We stayed with Mr. & Mrs. Price May 15 thru May 19, 2004. Without a doubt, we would return to this B&B.

We made reservations knowing that breakfast wasn't included. Our host, Phil, had taken a fall recently and for that we were sympathetic. However, she was terse with us upon arrival. She was not at all welcoming - no Irish hospitality in sight. Our room was small but clean. Unfortunately the toilet in room 1 only flushed every 8th try. The walls are quite thin and noise from other rooms was distuptive. We booked online, so when it was time to check out, in the absence of our host or additional instructions, we left the keys in the room and started our car. The host's son ran out and advised us that we hadn't paid our bill. I informed that we had booked online, but he insisted (without charm or apology) that it was a reservation only and that they only accepted cash. Twice they barked this out - "it's on the website - cash only!". I never write bad reviews, but I was moved to do so today. Perhaps it was a bad day for them only, but as much as we loved Kinsale - we regret spending the time and CASH at Danabel B-less B.

My partner and I did not enjoy this stay at all. Our first encounter of the owner was not introductions but a telling off for not turning up when we were supposed to!!
We found this lady to be very abrupt & unwelcoming.
The double room was very small & the bathroom even smaller. In the morning, although it was not time for us to have vacated the room the owner let herself in - thankfully no one was naked!
Finally, breakfast, if that's what you can call it. Cereal was available but other than this, as vegetarians, our choices were egg & cheese or cheese and tomatoes.
Unfortunately, I have to say my partner and I were very happy to leave & will be happy never to go back.

I never write bad reviews. I feel there are too many people eager to complain, but I have to make an exception with Danabel's B & B. I didn't know that breakfast wasn't included until the day before, when we confirmed the reservation. Not having breakfast included was not an inconvenience, but the unavailability to use the sitting room for guests was a huge inconvenience. My husband wakes up earlier than I do and will sit and read in the sitting room so that he would not disturb my sleep. When we asked Phil, if this was available, she explained that it was for family, only. I wished we had known there was no other room available to us. The rooms were too small to be able to play a game or read. When we arrived at 10:30 a.m. she was in the shower, even though we agreed on the arrival time. When we checked out, her son, who we had not met took our money and was inhospitable and never introduced himself. Phil did not show up to say goodbye, thank you or any other polite gesture of a host. I stay at many B & B's and they're usually, hospitable, warm and friendly. We were not well received and it was a disappointment.

The B&B was located a short walk from the center of Kinsale, a lovely place to stop on an Ireland holiday. We were a group of 6 and our rooms were comfortable. Phil our host warmed up to us and prepare a fresh hot Full Irish breakfast for us each morning. Our only disappointment was that there wasn't a common area for us to gather in the evening, but we made due with piling into one of the bedrooms to recap our day and plan for the next. This was a comfortable stay and the location was excellent. Dinner for two of the three nights we were here was at Kitty O'Sheas - where the food was hot and plentiful and the music most enjoyable.
