Our trip to Kinsale had been arranged by our friends some time ago to coincide with the Kinsale Food Events taking place during the weekend of our stay and we were looking forward to the trip immensely. Our friends had booked us into Perryville House Hotel where my wife and I had stayed during a short visit to the town around 10 years before.
To be honest, although I remembered the place fondly, due to the excellent service we experienced last time, I thought it might have turned out to be a bit tired by now - but how wrong !! The hotel has undergone a brilliant refurbishment and transformation since our last visit and we could not have been more impressed with the excellent changes!

This classic hotel is perfectly located for accessing the best parts of the town within a decent range.
A Junior Suite on the first floor had been booked for us which was first class in every respect.
Lots of space, a nice balcony with a great view of the beautiful gardens and the harbour - a massive, comfortable bed, nice decor and a huge bathroom with bath, shower, double sinks and vanity unit with crisp, clean house coats and slippers all at the ready.
Hotel staff were very attentive and we particularly appreciated being regularly asked when we wanted our room serviced.

Breakfast at Perryville is a treat!
A wide range of excellent local produce is served by the efficient and friendly catering staff.
In fact every aspect of the service was respectful and first class under the supervision of Andrew, the proprietor, who looked after our every needs and provided helpful information about any of the facilities of Kinsale about which we enquired.

Our entire party concluded that on any future visits to Kinsale we would make Perryville our first choice!

This is a lovely, old building. Make the jump to upgrade from the standard room, which is barely large enough to handle two suitcases, has no counter space in the bathroom and is small. The fixtures in the house are antique and interesting. The breakfast is in one word, remarkable. It has more variation (including fish and, separately, stewed rhubarb) than any, even at much higher end manors. Highly recommended even though there is no air conditioning.

This is a luxury retreat in a fantastic location. Right on the dock within a few minutes walk of all the Kinsale restaurants and shopping.

Our room was large with one of the most comfortable beds I’ve slept in.

Breakfast was at timed intervals to ensure social distancing and to allow the chef to cook everything fresh.

The hotel doesn’t have a restaurant for the evenings as most people are out in the town trying the many options available and the hotel staff are happy to recommend and try to book tables for you. There is a bar that is open in the afternoons and early evening.

We booked a room for two nights in August 2019, we then had to cancel the booking 6 days before we were due to check in as my mother in law became seriously ill. The owner accepted the cancellation and offered us a credit note for one night’s stay. My mother in law then sadly passed away the day before we were due to stay at Perryville House. We understood the refund policy, and did not expect a refund especially as they are a small family run business, but given the extenuating circumstances we thought it was reasonable to ask for a credit note for the two night stay. After sending two emails they finally replied and said they would still only give us a credit note for a one night stay despite telling them that my mother in law had passed away. We felt this was unfair and when I rang to discuss the matter further I was told by a member of staff (that was up to speed with the situation) that we did not give 7 days cancellation notice and they had bills and staff to pay so we would not get a credit note for the full amount. The staff member was very rude and aggressive on the phone. The owner never bothered to return my call. Needless to say we will never ever stay at Perryville House after the way we were treated by the owner and staff.

Great location in kinsale, however hugely overpriced for a very impersonal service. No Irish welcome here. Photographs on the website lead you to believe there is a breakfast buffet there is not. I received a very tiny bowl of fruit and yoghurt. Porridge was stodgy to say the least and boozy prunes were lacking in any flavour. A slice of toast each was brought to the table, I asked for brown soda bread and girl gave me the sweetest brown bread that frankly had no place with the meal as jam, marmalade etc would not of complimented it. A very underwhelming breakfast. The room was beautifully appointed, however, carpet underfoot was very rough. Bed linen was beautiful as we're quality of towels and addition of voya products was welcome. No kettle in room for tea and nespresso maker does not generate boiling water- overall a very underwhelming and expensive stay in Perrysville House - no cead mile failte here at all

My husband and I came for a trip to Ireland and were looking forward to staying at this hotel that seemed to have great reviews! I upgraded our room to splurge when I saw the beautiful sea views in the photos, but the advertisement failed to warn that your room would sit right above arguably the main drag out of the downtown. With very old windows separating the room sitting just above the street, the sea views quickly were less appealing in reality. To be in this small idyllic town and hear the constant roaring of trucks and cars whizzing by when we were trying to relax before dinner was impossible. The traffic calmed in the middle of the night but once 4am hit we got zero sleep and it only got worse with people talking loudly in the halls at 6am, and the traffic was roaring again after 5am--it honestly felt like we were sleeping outside with the windows doing very little to dampen the sound. We went for breakfast and got out of there as quickly as possible. When I mentioned it to the owner (tall woman), she made no apologies and reminded me that this was my fault for booking such a room and that she gave me the sea views I desired and I should have known this was a busy town. I reminded her I'm not from here, and thought to myself you'd never sell this room for this much if you advertised them for high noise level. The sea views make them sound tranquil, but she could care less and spoke to me like a 2 year old she was putting in her place. I was simply suggesting that they alert guests to the possible noise level when checking in just in case they are light sleepers. She said she has plenty of rooms away from the street as options but she didn't seem to agree that she could provide any service by warning her guests and giving them options. She was all about me signing the bill and moving me on my way. For a country filled with the most friendly people we have met, this brought a disappointing end to our stay with an expensive hotel showing no empathy for their guests having a poor experience. I 100% know this is not the first time they've had this complaint and it won't be the last! Beware and don't bother paying a premium for a sea room. Breakfast was delicious.

We stayed with Laura and Andrew for 3 nights in PerryVille for our anniversary. What an experience it was.

As soon as the door opened for us we were greeted by Andrew who is larger than life and as we learned he lives for Kinsale. After the formalities his first question was “What are your dinner plans? “ We had non, we had tried to book Man Fridays a few days before our arrival but there was no availability for a further week or so, however Andrew called up our room within minutes with a reservation, wow. He is full of chat and recommendations for everything from coffee and cake in the afternoon, to day trips and secret dinner reservations in some of the most sought after restaurants in town.

PerryVille is AMAZING, it’s full of old world charm and kept in immaculate condition witch is a credit to Laura and her team. The whole house is decorated beautifully, there is an amazing selection of old antiques to admire, the walls are adorned with old oil paintings along with a great selection of dried flowers which I enjoyed admiring.

The use of subtle a paint palette and beautiful selection wall papers, leaves you relaxed at all time, the large comfy armchairs in the sitting room had me snoozing at times, it was like I was at home in PerryVille.

Breakfast was superb and not just Irish but the best local West Cork produce. I started with Irish berries and local natural yogurt followed by Organic scrambled eggs with John Barrets famous sausages & bacon, finished off with a home made scone and black currant jam all washed down with plenty of fresh Barry’s tea.

An amazing stay with friends, I think it’s safe to say, “We will be back”

A small private hotel with an attentive staff makes this the perfect place to stay in kinsale. We had stayed there 15 years ago, but since then the owner has invested deeply into the kind of furnishings, art and comforts that have elevated this place to its luxury status. The breakfast was perfectly prepared in the best breakfast room we’d seen. Fresh flowers and outdoor gardens contribute to the feeling of hospitality that comes across from the Perryville and it’s staff.

A perfect experience, from the moment you arrive and you can park across the road from the lovely old house and someone immediately appears to take you luggage and welcome you. Large and comfortable room and bathroom, lovely common areas and breakfast room. Nice choice of breakfast very well cooked and presented. Large beautiful fresh flower arrangements from the owner's own garden. Good advice on booking restaurants well in advance of coming, and a general feeling of life being made easy for guests. A true guesthouse experience.

Just returned from a ten day trip to Ireland with four nights at Perryville House. Perryville House was not only the best place we stayed on this trip but #1 in all the 100s of small boutique hotels/Bed and Breakfast in which we have stayed. A beautiful, quiet, and safe guest house with an amazing staff. The staff were lovely and welcoming and gave us some helpful tips for the local area - they really made all the difference with their smiles and kind demeanor. Gorgeous public rooms and gardens, with fresh flowers from their gardens everywhere. The bedroom was very nicely appointed. Breakfast was served in a beautifully appointed dining room from an extensive menu - a gourmet delight. Drinks, cakes, teas, and coffees are offered to the guests in the Garden room until 9:00 PM and Frances, the bartender is outstanding. Wish we were still there!
