Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Jo’s rooms are perfect for a budget minded traveler. My wife and I stayed two nights. Although the room was very tight it was clean, quiet, inexpensive, and in the center of town. We walked to Charles Fort and around several of the areas of town. Don’t be alarmed as during the day the street is busy yet after dark it becomes silent. The staff was helpful and friendly.

We reserved our room for our trip to Kinsale 3 months in advance and Jo said that she had a room, but it was her smallest room. We said we'd take it, but if one of her bigger rooms became available, please upgrade us. Upon arrival, we found that we still had the smallest room, and small only begins to describe it. The room is so small that there is no place to sit except the bed. No closet, just a shelf on one wall, A sink next to the bed and a very small bath with toilet/shower. That said, we were able to see into one of the other rooms and they looked very nice. It was clean and comfortable and having the café downstairs was a real gift. If or when we return to Ireland, we will try to book earlier to get a bigger room at Jo's Café and Rooms.

Lovely scones and other baked goods including gluten free options such as tea cakes brownies. Nice atmosphere for a quick break. Good pot of tea and friendly service. Can get crowded but they’re efficient

The cozy cafe is lovely with great coffee and wonderful pastries and baked goods. The rooms are a great value, especially in pricey Kinsale - just what we needed. Parking is a few minutes walk away to the local free lot, and the cafe/rooms are in the heart of town. The staff are so friendly, and Jo sets the tone with her warm welcoming spirit. Staying here and eating at the cafe was a highlight of our Ireland trip, I highly recommend it! If I ever make it back to Kinsale, I will definitely stay here again. Thanks Jo!

Our room was up two flights of stairs. Space was minimal, with the bed the only place to sit in the room. The bathroom was tiny, and the shower slow to drain. However, it was a bargain for less than €50 per night, and it is in the heart of Kinsale. We found parking in a public lot about a 10-minute walk away. People were welcoming, and the WiFi was dependable. Breakfast was not included, but the cafe downstairs had excellent tea, coffee, and a selection of baked goods.

I stayed at Jo’s place for one night during a family vacation....it was wonderful to be able to afford a break from my group for a night with my own room and space! Very basic bed/bathroom setup, perfect spot to crash after a night of enjoying the charming town of Kinsale. Most importantly, safe and clean, priorities for a solo female traveler! Worth the privacy compared to a hostel or shared space. Highly reccomend breakfast downstairs at Jo’s Cafe to finish off the stay. Thanks for the hospitality!

With my email confirmation printed in hand I arrived and was told by the cook that they could not take me, due to some vague heating problem. Why Jo chose not to contact me, she had no idea. It was clear that this was just an excuse, and they were unaware of my reservation. She told to go down the street to another place, and when I did, this innkeeper was just as in the dark about the situation as I was! Clearly the focus on Joe's the cafe, not at the hotel. Be warned.

We didn't stay here but had brunch. What a lovely relaxing place, nice friendly staff and wonderful food. Plenty of organic alternatives. Also a perfect place for a mid day snack in the centre of Kinsale. Plenty of seats, and nicely painted, fresh and clean. We will be back!

We got caught in a torrential downpour while touring Kinsale and Jo's was our saviour. Once we made it inside the front door we realized that there were a lot of people who had the same idea. We scouted the room and noticed a table with 2 ladies at it, we asked if we could share and they said yes without a second thought. We ended up having coffee and scones and were extremely happy with this offering. The cafe was neat and clean, service efficient even with the influx of people trying to stay dry. Very nice spot, great food and friendly people
