Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I actually won a one night stay in a competition on Facebook but we kept having to push our visit out further and further because of changing Covid restrictions.

Noel was very good and assured me the offer would not expire, he kindly contacted me again when he was able to re-open and offered us dates.

Noel was very good and assured me the offer would not expire, he kindly contacted me again when he was able to re-open and offered us dates.

The stay was wonderful, room airy light and very comfortable with our own ensuite.

Noel and his staff could not do enough for us, the food was fantastic and plentiful, the room was spotlessly clean.

We felt at home and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, we actually booked 2 extra nights, the weather at the time was amazing and we had some lovely times on Inchydoney beach.

Thank you to Noel and the team, I would highly recommend a stay and hope to return again.

We spent a really enjoyable 3 days in July at the Melrose. We can't praise the owners enough for all they did to help make our trip to West Cork a success. From the breakfasts which were simply the best we'd had in years, to the accommodation which was very comfortable and well appointed with all you'd need on a trip. Otherwise the location is a good base for day trips, beaches and historical sites some only minutes away. Highly recommended.

Stayed here for a friends wedding. The accommodation was in the perfect location, short walk into town. Parking was available onsite. Very clean and spacious rooms. Noel and his family were extremely friendly, and recommended things for us to do.
Breakfast was cooked to perfection, thoroughly enjoyed it, family came to check on us at breakfast, and often asked how our day before had gone, as well as asking about the wedding. Gave us taxi numbers of the reliable companies to use!
Would highly recommend staying here, and would stay here again when coming back to visit Clonkilty, such a lovely place.

Stayed here whilst attending a wedding. Breakfasts are great and made to order, owners are really friendly, comfortable rooms and perfect setting to explore Clonakilty. B&B has a real warm and welcoming feel, a home away from your own. Would stay here again!

We stayed in Melrose for 2 nights as part of our honeymoon ‘staycation’ and Noel and his family couldn’t have been nicer. There were lots of breakfast options, the room was comfortable with good facilities, it was a short walk to town and they had even been thoughtful enough to get us a honeymoon gift. We had a great stay at Melrose and would definitely stay again if we’re back in the area. Thank you Noel and family!

Had a wonderful stay here. Short walk into the town and Melrose House makes a great base from which to explore West Cork. Noel was very welcoming and helpful with dinner suggestions. Very hospitable. The rooms and the grounds are beautiful. The beds were comfortable and the area quiet so one can get a good night's sleep. Breakfast was delicious and hearty. The display in the breakfast room in very informative. I had never seen one of the balls used in Irish Road Bowling. A most pleasant stay and one to be recommended.

I went for a five day stay with my mother-in-law to visit my son and his wife, who live since two years near Clonakilty. We had a room with two beds and were very satisfied with the room, the good beds, the quiet place and the very nice hospitality of the owners. It was the first time and we felt directly at home. With every breakfast we had a nice conversation with the very sincere and openhearted owners. A very good place to be in the close proximity of the center of Clonakilty. Next time we will surely want to stay in this bed and breakfast again!!

Noel (our host) was extremely friendly and welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and found Melrose to be a great source of tranquility following a day of touring around West Cork.
The choice at Breakfast was good and both the food and service were excellent. Melrose B&B worked for us and we would have no hestitation about staying there again.
