The best experience ever. Starting with accommodating late booking for communion dinner (2 days before). When arrived Robert, the owner made us feel very welcomed and allowed for our photographer to take pictures in stunning garden at the back of the hotel. Staff was extremely helpful and could not do more for us. Dinner was amazing, tasty and decent portions. We were allowed to bring our own cake for dessert without extra charge as most of the local hotels would charge you for dessert regardless. During the dinner our kids were allowed to play in the garden and were super safe as they could not leave the place without being noticed. We have changed the dresses in the bathrooms as the toilets were spotless clean so we had no worries that the dress would get dirty. My daughter received a beautiful card from Rebecca, Robert and the Emmet Hotel staff for her communion which was extremely nice touch and very unexpected. It was the first time I have eaten in the Emmet Hotel since the renovation and must say the place looks stunning. It is probably the most calm and welcoming hotel in Clonakilty with amazing food and amazing staff. Rebecca and Robert are doing amazing job running the hotel and we already look forward to eating there again. I have also got privilege to take a sneak peak at the rooms and was blown away with what I saw. Unique, welcoming , kids and pet friendly rooms are far from boring standard hotel rooms. Each room is different but kept in same style. I would highly recommend the Emmet Hotel to anyone for any occasion (or no occasion) !! Thank you again for everything.

The Emmet Hotel is almost a broader model of a townhouse, but also possesses the ambience of a modern hotel. I only stayed one night and found the hotel very comfortable and staff welcoming. There was excellent observance of all Covid requirements: mask wearing, sanitising facilities, distancing etc. The lady assisting in the bar during evening meal could not have been more helpful. She very kindly tried to arrange a visit for me at the Clonakilty whiskey. The food was enjoyable: ample, tasty and the chips were excellently crunchy. I would strongly recommend a stay at this hotel for its centrality (everything well within walking distance), amenable parking, friendly service from everyone and comfortable rooms.

Stayed here for 5 nights in July. We had 3 rooms , 1 family room which had 2 double beds and a nice bathroom that had a bath and a shower. 2 Double rooms also which wer clean and cosy.

We stayed during the very hot weather week in July so the hotel had cold water bottles left out in the hallways at the bedrooms for residents to take which was handy. The 2 double rooms had fans in them but in our family room with 2 young kids there was no fan and the girl at reception sais they had no more, which was a pity. A few nights in the middle of the night we had to ring down to reception to complain of the noise, as just out side our window in our family room was the staff smoking/eating area. Again didnt help when your trying to keep young kids asleep.

The food in the hotel was lovely, we ate dinner in there 4 nights out of the 5. 8 of us in total eating and we wer all impressed each night. Had a few pints of Guinness each night to which went down well. The breakfast was the best part as there was alot of choice, pancakes for the kids, Full Irish with proper Clonakilty sausages and pudding. Fruit granola porridge, you name it.

The hotel is in a great location in Clonakilty walking distance in and around the town, a kids play park just up the road and a lovely sitted park area right across the road. Each Saturday morn across from the hotel there is a lovely farmers market also selling all kinds.

The staff at the hotel wer all lovely, from the young girls at breakfast to the lady and her husband that own the hotel, sorry i forget their names but they wer fantastic. I would definetly reccomemd this hotel and would return.

We stayed at this gorgeous Georgian Hotel August bank Holiday weekend and had a fantastic time. The hotel is a lovely quaint boutique hotel, its decor a welcome change from the bland mundane chain hotels. The staff gave a lovely old Irish welcome that we thought was forgotten; well not at The Emmet, they were so helpful and welcoming and I certainly would recommend any tourist who wants to experience what the "Cead Mile Failte" is about definitely book into The Emmet hotel. Its location is great near the main street and positioned on a lovely little green square with free parking. The breakfast was superb and the service staff were attentive and welcoming. There is a tea kettle and Nespresso coffee maker in the room, which was spotless, as well as bottled water. The room maids were so friendly and pleasant every morning we passed thrm in the hallway as well as so helpful getting us water. Clonakilty is a perfect town for driving around West Cork, we stayed 3 nights in The Emmet and got to see everything on our list including Mizen head. So, well done to all the staff and owner of the Emmet Hotel. Keep up the great work you are doing representing West Cork in such a lovely Irish way.

I don’t like giving negative reviews but I really did not enjoy my room at the Emmet. I thought it was dark and uninviting which wouldn’t have mattered much “pre C-19” but is vital now! I really didn’t want to spend time in it and it reminded me of small town hotels I might have stayed in back in the 80’s or 90’s and with a price tag of a B & B more-so than a hotel. The “boutique” aspect included twiddling ones thumbs at an unmanned check-in reception, slamming doors and staff who did not wear any masks whilst delivering breakfast. I was shocked to be honest. In fairness the breakfast itself was good, room service (we ordered a drink from the bar) was quick & efficient as was the reaction to our call to reception to ask if kids in a room across could be asked to stop running around the hotel & banging doors. Parking is on the street. But sorry, I would never return. It just wasn’t a relaxing break.

The hotel is ideally located, fronting onto a lovely quiet green suntrap on Emmet Square. Check in was straight forward with a worm welcome and plenty of visible info and precautions regarding Covid. Our room was not the most spacious but was spotless clean and the bed comfortable, topped off by a nice hot shower, many boxes ticked. We did have a balcony which unfortunately faced onto a rather soulless alley but was perfect for a quiet drink and provided plenty of fresh air on a humid night. We didn't eat there so can't comment on dinner but breakfast was ample, served by very friendly staff in a bright and airy room. The outside garden had plenty of room for kids to play in and also a supply of toys, a bit late for us but a lovely touch for young families. What the Emmet lacks in state of the art mod cons it makes up for in bundles with its staff, its character and its location. A welcome break from the uniformity of the bland chain hotel, will stay again.

It's disappointing to write this review for this lovely hotel which has a fantastic team of young staff who do their utmost to please guests. This is our second stay here, the first last summer, was super and thoroughly enjoyable. Unfortunately this time we were disturbed while relaxing in our room by two yappy barking dogs who were staying with their owners in the room beside us. The owners left the two dogs in the room while they proceeded to enjoy their dinner without them... leaving two animals in the room alone going berserk.. When we brought this to the attention of the staff the owners were notified and came back to their animals. Unfortunately that wasn't the end of the barking as we were woken up very early the next morning (around 5am first when the owner was possibly bringing a dog out for relief) and then yappy dogs again around 8am. We were so disappointed to learn that this is an animal friendly hotel - the animals are sleeping in the bedroom where all other guests will sleep on future visits. This is so unhygienic and will prevent us staying at the Emmet again. This is a great pity as we did enjoy the lovely room, food and the huge efforts the young staff make to ensure we enjoyed our visit. Special thanks to Samantha who did her utmost to ensure a pleasant stay. Dogs are animals and in our opinion should never be allowed in hotel bedrooms where guests will be resting.. If hotels wish to facilitate animals they should have appropriate space for the animals to sleep i.e. a kennel or equivalent. The majority of guests usually pay for their animals to be minded while on holidays.

Just home after a perfect two night stay in this lovely boutique hotel in Clonakilty . It’s ideally situated for exploring the town and the free parking around the square outside the door was an extra bonus , we were never more than twenty feet away from the door !!! The hotel itself was very bright and spotlessly clean, there was a lovely library space off the lobby perfect for a bit of quiet time. The room was very spacious and had plenty of storage space , delighted to see a good quality hairdryer supplied as I hate those bathroom ones you get in high end places !! Instead of a kettle there was a lovely nespresso machine which once we got the hang of got plenty of use . There was unlimited large glass bottles of water on a table on the hallway for refilling it . Bathroom spacious with shower over the bath . Def one of the most powerful I’ve used and the water was piping hot . Bed was extremely comfortable and room lovely and cool . We had breakfast both days and enjoyed it very much I really liked the French toast and my only quibble would be it could maybe do with a little fresh fruit on the side . We also had lunch in the garden one day , beautiful open prawn sandwiches . All in all we really enjoyed our stay and my one suggestion is that maybe your garden could do with a little love it’s such a fabulous space !!

My stay here overlooking the square was very enjoyable . After a long day I had the perfect shower and experienced top quality fluffy towels .
The room was very comfortable and I had an excellent nights sleep
I booked dinner in the restaurant and it is great to find a place buzzing with locals .
The service was impeccable and I recognised Timmy as part of the furniture with 25 years of service . Well done Timmy your service and friendliness is greatly appreciated by all your loyal customers .
Samantha was flying about the place making sure all tables were happy . A great waitress .
My dinner was superb . Served by the staff who are trained very well by Rob
Marie has left her life’s work in very capable hands and it’s upwards and onwards after the severe lockdown .
This must be a place to experience the best of local food and staff .
Thank you to all of you who make the Emmet simply great .
