We stayed at this gorgeous Georgian Hotel August bank Holiday weekend and had a fantastic time. The hotel is a lovely quaint boutique hotel, its decor a welcome change from the bland mundane chain hotels. The staff gave a lovely old Irish welcome that we thought was forgotten; well not at The Emmet, they were so helpful and welcoming and I certainly would recommend any tourist who wants to experience what the "Cead Mile Failte" is about definitely book into The Emmet hotel. Its location is great near the main street and positioned on a lovely little green square with free parking. The breakfast was superb and the service staff were attentive and welcoming. There is a tea kettle and Nespresso coffee maker in the room, which was spotless, as well as bottled water. The room maids were so friendly and pleasant every morning we passed thrm in the hallway as well as so helpful getting us water. Clonakilty is a perfect town for driving around West Cork, we stayed 3 nights in The Emmet and got to see everything on our list including Mizen head. So, well done to all the staff and owner of the Emmet Hotel. Keep up the great work you are doing representing West Cork in such a lovely Irish way.…
Fabulous quirky little gem in the heart of Clonakilty Lovely clean spacious rooms, friendly staff and delicious food Great central location only few minutes drive from gorgeous Inchadoney beach, have stayed at the hotel there but would favour The Emmet over it and that's saying something!!! Highly recommended well worth a visit Only sorry we couldn't stay longer
Recently we called into the Hotel for breakfast. My husband and myself both sat in the dining room and was given 2 Menus by a lovely polite girl. On taking a look at the Menu we both ordered "A Mini Breakfast" we could see no table with the usual selection of cereals, juices etc so we ordered 2 Orange Juice and tea/toast for 2. Rashes and Sausages were definately re-heated and better was to come when we went to pay - Juices were priced seperate, 2 mini's breakfast were priced seperate as was the tea/toast with the result we felt we paid way over what it should be. On thinking back THERE WAS NO PRICES ON THE MENU - FUTER WALK-INS BEWARE.
Room was beautiful and all staff so helpful and kind. Unfortunately I was suffering severe nausea from turbulence during our landing in Dublin, and ended up needing medical care after 9pm, taxis refused to pick us up, so the wonderful and empathetic Jess drove us the 20mins to the Southdoc in Bandon. I wish my brain was working, as I would have given Jess € for fuel and time (I really regret this). Clonakilty is a stunning town. I would advise staying at least 2nts. SHOUTOUT TO JESS! You're are the best 💜 Thank you, Tauni and Bill Bowcott, Vancouver Island, Canada
Someone suggested meeting here for coffee, I haven't been in this hotel for years, although I visit the town almost weekly. Warm modern decor, friendly staff, generally very welcoming place. Nice outdoor area for nice days. I got that 'old school good service' vibe, will be returning for lunch soon. Nice find!
Having 'checked out' the hotel in trip-advisor and other sites prior to booking we were left with an initial sense of disappointment that the window in our room faced onto a dark and very unsightly back return with a metal fire exit. This felt like an 'over-spill' room that we would never have booked or chosen in advance and the window/view was not reflected in any of the photographs and felt overpriced for what was offered. To be fair, as the hotel was very busy we accepted our situation. On a brighter note, the greeting was warm and friendly and despite being very busy an offer was made to reserve us a table for dinner. The breakfast was served cheerfully by the same lady who later checked us out; and though some item's weren't available and a request was overlooked it was nothing to get upset about.…
Celebrated my daughters confirmation last Sunday in the Emmet Hotel. Huge thank you to Rebecca, Robert & all the team. The food & service was just fantastic. 5 🌟 The food was just outstanding & I couldn't fault the amazing service we received.
In a world of big hotel chains it was lovely to receive the famed Céad míle fáilte from the staff & owner at the Emmet hotel in Clonakilty. 5 ⭐️ Service A quick visit but a lasting impression. Highly recommend, until our next stay. Ciarán & Tracey
It's disappointing to write this review for this lovely hotel which has a fantastic team of young staff who do their utmost to please guests. This is our second stay here, the first last summer, was super and thoroughly enjoyable. Unfortunately this time we were disturbed while relaxing in our room by two yappy barking dogs who were staying with their owners in the room beside us. The owners left the two dogs in the room while they proceeded to enjoy their dinner without them... leaving two animals in the room alone going berserk.. When we brought this to the attention of the staff the owners were notified and came back to their animals. Unfortunately that wasn't the end of the barking as we were woken up very early the next morning (around 5am first when the owner was possibly bringing a dog out for relief) and then yappy dogs again around 8am. We were so disappointed to learn that this is an animal friendly hotel - the animals are sleeping in the bedroom where all other guests will sleep on future visits. This is so unhygienic and will prevent us staying at the Emmet again. This is a great pity as we did enjoy the lovely room, food and the huge efforts the young staff make to ensure we enjoyed our visit. Special thanks to Samantha who did her utmost to ensure a pleasant stay. Dogs are animals and in our opinion should never be allowed in hotel bedrooms where guests will be resting.. If hotels wish to facilitate animals they should have appropriate space for the animals to sleep i.e. a kennel or equivalent. The majority of guests usually pay for their animals to be minded while on holidays.…
I have stayed here on two occasions. Very comfortable hotel. Very nice restaurant with court yard and a library Staff always very helpful. Very good location in overlooking Emmet Square. Very good base for exploring west cork
