We stayed in room 317. There was a nice view of the sea but that was the only nice thing about the room. Tired and of fashioned room that was tiny. Impossible for 2 people to get ready for a night out, one of us has to lie on the bed and take turns to get ready. The heat in the room was unbearable and as a result we could not sleep.and we had the window fully open all night. When my wife was blow-drying her hair, She accidentally pointed the drying in the direction of the top of the wardrobe. This resulted in a cloud of disgusting dust all over the room. When checking out the receptionist never asked how our stay was, so I told her of our experience. I was dismayed at her when she just shrugged her shoulders. We paid €190 for a midweek stay with no breakfast and ended up in this room. Way too expensive for what felt like a 2 stay room in a 4 star hotel

Stayed one night for a concert in malahide castle. The lobby, bar, restaurant area etc are all beautiful, I was excited to see our room! The woman that checked us in was efficient but less than friendly, she spoke to tell us only what we needed to know. The room itself (rm 224) was old and sparse. It could have done with a major revamp. The curtains were too short for the window. The door into the room was approx 3 inches above the ground on one end. At €270 for one night B&B, the very least I would expect is a dull door. It was a very warm night out and no air con in the room, also no way of turning off the hot radiator!!! We didn't sleep a wink because of the heat. Bar food was ok. Breakfast was nice but the staff could have been friendlier or even said good morning! Upon check out I mentioned about the door and also about the extreme heat and I was completely ignored by the man at reception. It was a very disappointing stay all in all.

When we arrived at the hotel they were extremely busy due to the number of concerts that were on in Malahide that week therefore it meant our room wasn't ready at the time it should have been - which we were completely fine with, these things happen. Paulina (i am near sure her name was!) was in reception and she was 5* in terms of how she handled things, looked after us, and made sure that our stay was extremely pleasant. Thank you, Paulina - extremely professional, efficient & caring for your guests

I've stayed at the Grand Hotel a couple times, and probably will again, but I'm afraid the hotel has seen better days. While the front of house is clean and modern you don't have to go far to find indications of age. My room was on the 3rd floor and my family was on the 2nd. Rather than take the elevator I used the stairs which is where I saw the condition of the walls in the attached pictures. It was also bothersome to see the housekeeping staff lounging in the chairs in the elevator lobby. Of course it was the younger team members, also playing on their phones, but not the impression you want for a hotel with Grand in the name. The Grand Hotel has a great location, plenty of amenities, great bars, exactly what you want; they just also have some work to do (repair and training) to get to where they want to be.

The location is very convenient on the water relatively near the Dublin airport. This was probably a great hotel back in the day but the owners have allowed it to get very outdated. The rooms are small and basic and mine in the attic was hit with no a/c.

Location, with a beautiful sea view is the only plus point of this hotel. It lacks maintenance so badly that is is shrieking to be cared for. The lobby is impressive which makes one think the hotel is indeed The Grand. Its name could not be further from the truth. The first room was battered, shabby and dirty. The carpets are walking with years of ground in dust which immediately triggered my dust allergy. The room smelt musty and of vomit. I could hear the man next door snoring and later peeing! The walls were paper thin. The bed was like a trampoline and moved so much I could not get out of it. The windows are single glaze so all noise and cold let in. The taps in the bathroom were hot and cold separately so you could not wash your hands in running water. All around the taps were stains of calcification. All around the bath was black mould ground in to the sealant. I asked to be moved to another floor which they did. This room was bigger and more modern but still lacked maintenance and tlc. This room was on the 4th floor but the lifts were out of order for about 2 days so I had schlep up to the 3rd floor, walk another floor etc etc. The internet was down the whole evening and I needed to check in for my flight the next day!!!!! The breakfast room had ceiling to floor windows with a gorgeous view only marred by the seagull poo that graced them. This should have been cleaned off before people sat down for breakfast. My cereal spoon was encrusted with old food remnants from the dishwasher. Would have made anyone ill who used it. Such an expensive hotel that provides nothing in the way of comfort living. A tragedy for Malahide as it is the only hotel serving the village centre. Next time I'll hire a car and stay further out of the village.

Staying here for a few months whilst working in Dublin. Started with a "Classic Cosy Double" which although fairly small, as per description, was very well set out with a great view of the harbour. Later upgraded to a larger room but was disappointed with the view of the carpark certainly not worth the additional costs. Staff a little hit and miss, checking in process fairly straight forward though my colleague was harassed for payment in advance for breakfast. He advised he would pop down to the desk shortly but was called a further 2 times within a short period demanding he make the payment..............very poor. My colleagues and I also observed one of the bar staff eating a chip off a customers plate whilst he was delivering it to their table. Overall a nice place but needs a bit of an overhaul with regards staff training etc.

I stayed three nights and was completely impressed with the quality of the staff members. Anna with housekeeping and Jack at Matt Ryan's Bar & Restaurant were outstanding in going out of their way to be helpful. The property is gorgeous and very well-kept, the location is beautiful and I would most definitely return if the opportunity comes my way!

Our room was clean, modern decor evident and spacious. We had minimal issues such as we booked it for three people, but they only prepared it with two cups, two sets of towels etc. Didn't find reception staff particularly friendly or helpful when we had queries. Was disappointed at times with the restaurant, breakfast wasn't busy when we went, but it was hard to get attention from waiting staff to order hot drinks. In a hotel supposedly of this calibre I don't expect to see disposable cups either within the buffet. Whilst the range of food was good, there was no consistency each day, one day there was no strawberry jam, next day there was as an example. Pastries were particularly nice. Hot breakfast really wasn't! Hash browns are awful as well. It seems such a shame that such a well known hotel doesn't seem to use Irish producers, the awful cheddar at breakfast was Dutch and really not a true cheddar, very processed, jam was french! There are so many excellent Irish producers it seems ridiculous that the hotel doesn't research and use them, as it would be such a good experience for guests as well as promoting good Irish products. Maybe some information to give the provenance of the food would be good. Having visited Ireland multiple times to see family there is no way the sausages or bacon were representative of the good produce I have experienced from Irish butchers over the years. Lunch was a different matter altogether. Roast meats were tender and a pleasure to eat. The wide choice of desserts on the lunch buffet was amazing. Hard to believe it was the same restaurant. Bar staff were always friendly and quick to serve, even though it was very busy. This isn't a cheap hotel, and having stayed there a few times over the years, it felt as though service had deteriorated, but could be easily improved, along with some aspects of breakfast.

Had our first stay at the grand for a birthday.celebration. From the moment we arrived and were greeted at the reception we were treated like royalty. A lovely room with a beautiful seaview awaited us and a card wishing me a happy birthday along with some really lovely chocolates. Breakfast was a real treat and very well organised. The staff were very pleasant and welcoming. Will definitely be staying here again and would recommend it to others 100percent. Thankyou so much see you again in September.
