Detailed Reviews
This is a fine hotel with fine staff that are attentive to their customers needs. There is a great layout to the premises with lots of space both in the bedrooms and the restaurant ,bar and a particularly well laid out courtyard area. The hotel caters for a lot of young families but the facilities were such that us "old fogies" never felt over run or uncomfortable. I did have an issue with a dripping or mechanical noise in my room. This was addressed both by the night porter and reception staff .The staff were very friendly efficient and coped well with Covid restrictions .I would stay there again.

I stayed in the Diamond coast this August with my Wife for a 3 night dinner B&B package.
In this case I am pleased to say that our break in the Diamond Coast was exceptional. The hotel is spotless clean and well designed. The restaurants and common areas are large and airy and it is obvious that the hotel staff have undergone the training required to ensure Covid protocols are followed and that they are practical and most importantly that they are effective.
We stayed in one of the new executive rooms and can certainly recommend these for design, size and overall comfort. There is no A/C in the rooms and this is something that is needed but I believe there is a plan to upgrade the rooms for this which would be very welcome.
The breakfast, which we had in our room, was delivered to the door opening promptly at the selected time each morning and it added to the experience not to have to make our way down to the restaurant. Dinner was delicious and although some elements of the menu was repetitive, there were a few new addition to the mains on each evening and overall there was something different to choose on each occasion.
The staff throughout the hotel from check in, to the waiters and servers and cleaning staff were very friendly and professional and any request that we made was addressed and followed up on with efficiency. This is a credit to the management and culture of the hotel which shines through everywhere and will ensure a return visit from us in the future.

+1
Just home from a 3 night stay and want to thank the Diamond Coast Hotel for a really enjoyable relaxing break away. From
the moment we walked through the doors the warm welcome that greeted us till the moment we left ensured we had a really lovely time.
I will explain later the manner in which the hotel is functioning in relation to the current Covid regulations.
We treated ourselves to a suite and we loved it. The bathroom is amazing it was like something off a movie set. Everywhere was spotless and so luxurious and the bed was big and comfy.
The food was delicious and we felt so safe (re Covid) and comfortable in the hotel that we booked to have dinner in the hotel each evening treating ourselves to steaks on our last night and were not disappointed cooked exactly the way we ordered and so delicious.
The staff are so friendly and helpful they made all the difference as they are working in difficult times but keep smiling and ensuring that the guests enjoy their stay.
The hotel is ideally located to take in sightseeing in Mayo and Sligo.
Now to explain the way the hotel is dealing with Covid
On arrival your temperature is taken and then in a very friendly manner it is clearly explained that guests are required to wear masks when moving through the hotel but masks can be removed when seated in the lobby, bar or restaurant. Rooms are sanitised prior to guest arrival and staff don’t enter the room unless requested by the guest and requests for extra pillows, fresh towels, loo roll etc., will be left outside the room.
You are asked to book your table time for breakfast and dinner so the hotel can manage the guest numbers in the dining room. Seating in the bar and restaurant is socially distanced but in a relaxed manner.
Staff wear masks, hand sanitise regularly and sanitise tables chairs etc., when vacated by guests all of this is done efficiently and without fuss.
There are clear markings in the floor guiding guests to toilets etc., to ensure everyone is walking in the same direction. Doors that can be left open are left open so as to eliminate unnecessary surface contact and there are plenty hand sanitisers throughout the hotel.

Just home from staying for 3 nights we had a family room for 5 with b&b and 1 dinner included.
We had a lovely time few cons though the room was very dated on ground floor beside playground and tennis court so had to keep curtains closed a lot otherwise we had kids looking in the window. The picture on the website didn’t match up to the room we had to be honest.
Housekeeping were very good we needed toilet roll and towels and the lady was very quick to sort this out
The food was lovely and staff very attentive apart from one morning when we had to wait a good while for teas and coffees.
The hotel is in a great location near beach and plenty to do around
We’ll go back but ask for a better room next time

Dear gemmawill Thank you for your feedback, I am happy that you enjoyed your recent visit with us and that you highlighted our hardworking staff who make every effort to make your stay memorable. I am so glad you enjoyed the food, we have a passionate team in the kitchen who are proud of what they produce. I am sorry that you were dissapointed with elements of the room. We have invested heavily in the property recently and this will continue, unfortunately not all of the bedrooms have been completed at this stage. I look forward to welcoming you back again soon, with a room more to your liking. Best regards

This is one of the best family rooms we stayed in, 2 adults and 3 under 10’s. The room was huge, 2 decent doubles and a small double and single bunk. Room was freshly painted and looked well. Plenty of crumbs on the floor made us question the Covid cleaning standards.
The bunk bed was in an alcove which was brilliant to allow us read/watch tv after bedtime.
The bathroom was too small for 5 people, shower in the bath was poor for flow and flexibility to try wash little people and the bath itself was narrow. Bath had a chip out of the inside base, it was rusty and rough so a risk to the kids and definitely not 4 star.
We stayed during a heat wave and absolutely baked in the room. For some reason the windows open inward, into the reveal. they are restricted but the design meant we could open less than a half inch. Even in moderate temperatures with five people the room would be stifling. I asked to get the restrictors released and was dismissed by a less than helpful receptionist. on our second day I asked about a fan and one of the cleaning staff gave us a small, pretty useless but better than nothing fan. The fan was too noisey for us to sleep but at least the children slept.
The bar / restaurant staff were excellent. Receptionists a bit snooty.
The food in the bistro was okay, some days very good other days poor but alway pricey (€15 for a margarita pizza, €9 for a ham and cheese toasted burger bun with no side/garnish). Very good Covid precautions in the eating areas.
Overall a really great family room if the temperature is below 14degrees c. Below a photo of the pathetic window openings. Hotel either needs air con or to address the ventilation.

Dear JOBrien_irl, Thank you for taking the time to send us your feedback, we always appreciate constructive feedback as we can work together as a team to improve anything our guests feel are not up to our usual high standards. In relation to the ventilation unfortunately our windows are restricted due to health and safety reasons and it is required by Failte Ireland as part of our inspection every year, this is to ensure that no small children have an accident from one of the higher floors. But we totally understand that in a heat wave as you mentioned the rooms can get stuffy, we had hoped to install Air Con in our bedrooms over the past year but unfortunately COVID put a stop to that, it is in our future plans. It is great that your overall feedback was that we are a great family hotel, i hope that we will see you at the hotel in the future. Kind Regards Michael Yates General Manager

Wifi was very poor, rarely worked. The food in the bar is expensive for what you get especially the kids. Kids club is great and well run,my kids loved it, The rooms were spotless and very quiet at night. The buffet breakfast was ok,the hot food ran out and didn't have a lot of variety. Overall a nice stay and venue beside the beach.

This is an excellent hotel for family holidays.
We stayed in one of their standard family rooms. There was loads of space in the room, including a table and chairs. The kids triple bunk bed was semi-separated by a half-wall which gave them the idea of their own room.
The reception area has loads of large areas for families to sit and the small playground outside was very clean and well maintained.
All the staff were very good and accommodating with the children and the children’s menus had loads of choice, and not just the usually chip, sausages and chicken nuggets.
I’d definitely recommend this hotel for families

Booked a stay at Diamond Coast at very short notice due to been let down by another hotel. Was told check-in time was 4PM, started queuing at 4PM, and was almost 4:30 by time I got I had queued up to reception to be told room was not ready yet. Understandable given the current conditions, but an offer of a complimentary drink or something would have been nice while waiting, given the rate is a bit on the expensive side especially given that there is no leisure centre on the premises. Most people seemed to be waiting for housekeeping before been able to get room keys. Efficient booking service located at check in for booking dinner and breakfast. We enjoyed a fabulous meal in the restaurant and really enjoyed this. Looked after by a lovely waitress and food was good quality. Our room was lovely and spacious and having read previous reviews of sweltering heat conditions in the room I was a bit apprehensive, but to be honest this was not an issue for us. It was hot enough in room but I wouldn’t say it was uncomfortable to be fair we don’t usually experience this kind of humid weather in Ireland.

Dear D3594SNrebeccas Thank you for your comments, I do apologise for the wait you experienced at check-in. We do have a very stringent protocol in place as regards to preparing a room for a new guest and on occasion this can cause a small delay at arrival.. I appreciate your understanding and apologise that you were not offered a tea or coffee while we prepared your room. Fantastic to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us, your room and the food and service in the restaurant. We work hard to ensure that all our guests have a great experience here at the Diamond Coast and we hope to see you again in beautiful Enniscrone. best regards

We stayed here for a weekend with friends during July. Hotels were just reopened a few weeks after lockdown and overall it was an enjoyable experience.
It’s a beautiful part of Ireland and a very nice hotel with plenty of facilities but unfortunately the food let them down badly on this occasion.
Hotel and staff were all set up to ensure that customers were made to feel that all the correct protocols were in place for their protection and safety.
We had a three night package with breakfast each morning and one evening meal.
We had a family room which was very spacious with two double beds and then another area with a bunk bed and second TV which would be ideal for younger kids.
Bar area was spacious and well laid out to enable social distancing. Staff very friendly and customer focussed in the bar and no problem with getting served.
Breakfast was a let down with the need to queue separately for cereals and orange juice and then for hot food. Slow with tea and coffees and customers seemed confused by the set up. Staff also seemed very stressed by the format and that applied from the person checking people in through to ordering g teas and coffees. There were six of us and on the final morning we did not bother with the breakfast as it had been a poor experience on the previous two mornings.
Our evening meal was equally disappointing. Two of us had the brisket to begin (beef salad)to begin which was very poor - basically smothered in horseradish sauce. I went for a plain choice in terms of the prime burger but as you can see from the picture it was very much a case of dry and burnt with no effort on presentation. Definitely a burger well past it’s prime.
The other dishes to the table were poor with the starters particularly disappointing. My wife had the Traditional Cullen Skink which came to the table lukewarm and the bread to accompany it was rock hard.
Overall I would recommend the Diamond Cost as a wonderful base to enjoy Enniscrone and the surrounding area. The food needs to improve to truly be considered a 4 Star Hotel.

I have spoken to the kitchen team in relation to your food and Noel our executive chef apologises sincerely, it is a pity you did not raise these issues at the time as we would have addressed them immediately with the kitchen team. Since your stay we have worked on our breakfast service, the team are adapting to something completely new due to the COVID precautions as of course this will lead to a slower than normal service that guests are used to at breakfast. but i do thank you for sending us your feedback. We had our wedding in The Diamond Coast hotel February 2020, the day could not have been more perfect thanks to Mary Clarke and her team. We knew from the very first meeting with Mary that planning our wedding was going to made so easy with her help and guidance. In the lead up to the wedding Mary could not have been more helpful, she was always only an email or phone call away and was always prompt with her response. The room rates for our guests were excellent value and many of our guests spoke about how nice their rooms were, in particular family rooms were a big hit! We were delighted that the reception and bar area had recently been renovated in the weeks before our wedding, and it did not disappoint. The function room too was fabulous. The food on the day was amazing and our guests are still raving about it. Mary was very open to letting us put our own twist on the day and was as excited as we were about the different ideas we had. We spent three nights in the hotel and could not fault one thing. Thank you so much to Mary and all in the Diamond Coast Hotel for making our wedding the best it could be.

Sorry Karen I didn’t see much for teens to do but everything was pretty quiet due to Covid restrictions but if I’m honest we are past the teen stage so it wasn’t on my radar
Hi, it depends on our availability, we do have single rooms with only single beds in them and if we are fully booked that is what you would be allocated if that is what you had booked, but if we do have availability on the night you stay we will allocate you a room with a double bed, but there is no guarantees unless you book that particular room. I hope this helps. Regards Michael
Dear Anne. As per our previous conversations to make a claim of food poisoning without any proof and without attending a doctor is a serious claim.
You have also asked not to be contacted by the hotel again.
Kind Regards .
