Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

To be honest it is what it says on the tin but a little less , for me I quite like the decor or the hotel however it may not be to everybody's taste . The bedrooms are quite old and need some tlc , the wall paper peeling and torn . The bathroom with no lock but with plenty of bathroom product . We were directed to the bar area for food, we were led to a table but had to ask for the blinds to be pulled down on the rather filthy windows which needed a much overdue cleaning , ten minutes later the blinds were pulled . Our waitress seemed to know very little about the menu and was not keen on seeking clarification about any of our questions regarding the food selection . At 5 minutes past 5 we were told that there was none available . Food came and to be honest there was nothing to be jumping for joy about . The following morning breakfast was OK but hey breakfast is a very hard meal to mess up . Overall was not the best but not the worst either , I don't think I would be back but my dislike may be someone else gold . My advice is give it a try for yourself and see what ya think

To start of receptionist was hostile at arrival we were brought to the relaxation room where it was anything but.. it was freezing and the music was more like restaurant music definitely not relaxing. We arrived 45 mins early to use the sauna and jaccuzi yet it was not offered to us and no one came to check on us once we had our forms filled out so we sat for 45 mins until our treatment time. We were getting the “me time” package. We weren’t offered robes to change. Treatments were ok could be improved therapists not friendly and no compassion. Didn’t explain treatment when got in the room just told to take of clothes and lie on the bed. When finished we’re just told treatments over and take time getting up. No aftercare no glass of water offered. Really lacking finishing touches. The spa has been done up beautifully but the standard of therapists and treatments need improving.

From check in to check out I was looked after by very Courteous and friendly staff. The staff were very happy to help you with anything you needed to make your stay enjoyable. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was great and the food in the Waterfront Bar was excellent with great choices from the carvery or Grill bar . They also have free parking and free wi fi .Over all a great place to stay.

Bathroom could have been cleaner. No complimentary bottle of water in room. The only view was over the back car park. The shower was tepid at best with blasts of cold water. Breakfast was a shambles, we had to queue for ceral bowls which were then brought out 2/3 bowls at a time. I asked for a strong coffee and was given v.weak cheap coffee after asking again for stronger coffee I was told that it was the only breakfast coffee they had!! Entrance to the hotel from carpark was quite a distance when carrying luggage. Staff were v. pleasant.

This hotel is not and I mean not a 4 star hotel, Booked a family room 2 adults 3 children and I was put into a small double room. On arrival the door was swinging open with the handle broken, Requested to be moved and was told that maintenance would fix the door, This wasnt fixed. After sending an email to the management I was eventually relocated the following day thanks to Megan. After being relocated to a bigger room which was very difficult to get to with a large buggy because of the steps on every corridor we had to endure a horrible smell of sewerage coming from the bathroom which stunk the entire room. Moving onto the restaurant, on the first night we ordered a meal which took an eternity. I can only describe my wife's chicken black bean dish as a bowl of pedigree chum. Slop on a plate! The breakfast on both mornings was absolutely horrendous. Who knew scrambled eggs and sausages could taste so bad! As bad as the hotel was none of the staff were rude and the service was ok, but the standards are below par of a 4 star Hotel. We wouldn't recommend and we won't be returning.

We enjoyed a 2 night B&B family stay at the Holyrood. Our first room was quite far round the hotel for my mother who has a physical disability. We asked at reception if possible to be moved to a room more suitable to her needs, this was not a problem and we were moved as soon as possible. The room was lovely and the beds comfortable. We availed of the leisure centre facilities which come free as part of the room deal. The pool is ideal for a quick solo swim or to bring the family along too. The hotels newly opened Orchid Spa is a treat for anyone looking to take some time out for themselves, they offer a range of treatments in the tranquil setting. I treated myself to the 'Me Time' packages, a taster session of 3 different treatments over 60mins. Would highly recommend.
