On the positive side, the rooms and bathrooms are very modern, spacious and clean. The double beds were incredibly comfortable. The TV in the downstairs room was very easy to operate, and of excellent quality. It's an incredibly central location, within walking distance to everything in Ballina. The cleaning lady Jessica was very friendly and helpful. The property owner was very obliging when I asked for a fridge for our room. The restaurant in the courtyard, Dillion's, is excellent for food(but make sure to book in advance).
On the negative side, when we arrived by car around the back, we were confused where to park. In the end we parked in a car park about 60/70 meters from the property. The parking cost €2 per day which is extremely reasonable. The hallway just inside the door might need a large thick mat, as it was wet outside when we arrived, and the hallway was getting dirty. The hallway would need to be brushed and cleaned each day, as there's leaves, dirt, and footprints as you go in, and it doesn't leave a good first impression. The water temperature in the shower in the upstairs room was hit and miss, and my sister's sometimes had to come downstairs to have a shower. Also, the screen of the TV in their room upstairs was cracked for the duration of their stay. The mattresses on the single beds are poor in quality. A large bin outside the property might also be helpful, as the small bins we had filled up very quickly, but we'd nowhere to dump them. Last thing is that it would be a good idea to 'frost' a portion of the windows in the bottom bedroom for privacy as it's very open. We had to close the curtains the majority of the time we were there.
Overall, the property is very good value.

Had a great stay at the Lodge recently. Lovely, large modern rooms and bathrooms. Great for families. Ballina town is on your doorstep with all its shops, pubs and restaurants. Loved the courtyard and had a beautiful meal in Dillons next door. Highly recommend

The place at first glance seemed ok. There was however an overwhelming smell of nasty washing powder on sheets. The smell was so strong you could not sleep on sheets. Made eyes and nose sore. Tried calling owners. No reply. As last resort removed sheets and then all was clear. The mattress was so badly stained and had been sprayed with product like fabreeze. Absolutely disgusting. Should not be open to paying guests. I messaged owners with picture and over 12 hours later no response. DO NOT STAY here.

My husband and I stayed here on a Saturday night in mid November. On arrival we were told there was no receptionist available as she was on her days off. But she had kindly left our room key card. The reception area was very cold although there was a stove burning. We went down to our room no. 106 it was so cold we put on extra clothes. We turned our radiator up high and hoped that by night the room would have warmed up. The phone was all tea stains. And to our amazement we had two single beds pushed together.....not exactly the double room we had booked. Although the bathroom was clean it was also very cold. The halls smelled musty. We had food in the bar that was really nice and the two bar men were polite. Pity about the puss on the waitress this morning where we had breakfast in the bar. She spent her time on her mobile. Made no attempt to be polite or even mannerly. The cooked breakfast was good but the buffet style counter left a lot to be desired....Two loafs of bread beside a toaster. A jug of orange juice but no glasses. And the coffee not yet made although it was 9:30 am. This was a poor excuse of a hotel. With the hall curtains falling off the rails, kids screaming and running up the corridor until midnight and the 7:30am banging on our room door. When it came time to leave there was another problem...The receptionist had gone missing. No one could tell us how much our bill was so we ended up just leaving extra cash and getting out of there fast just to get a heat in our car.

Donna, Thank you for your review, I apologise for our shortcoming which were far too many on your visit. We are doing a lot of work on the Lodge at the moment and acknowledge we have a way to go which is why it is so cheap. I have spoken to the staff in question about where we can make improvements and we are dealing with everything. It would have been great if you had let us know of any of the problems at the time as we would have loved to have an opportunity to fix at least some before they became a major issue. We would love to have you back in the future to see if we can improve your opinion of us as we do care. I am happy to arrange this for you if you wish just contact Orla

We had our Wedding in The Talbot Lodge Geesala on September 9th and we want to say a big thank you to Tommy, Orla, Sharon and all the team. We had a fantastic day and you couldn't have done anymore for us and our guests. Everything from the service, food and staff were excellent, you exceeded all of our expectations and really made our day/weekend. The hotel is the perfect location for weddings in Connaught and you should be very proud of what you do. Barbara & Alan Burke.

Thank you Barbara and Alan for trusting us with your Wedding, It meant a lot to us all at the lodge. I know the guests really enjoyed it, but it also caused great excitement within the staff who gave it there all. It is a beautiful venue and it was great to see Geesala buzzing and looking so good. We want to share in your thanks to Sharon who ran the show and was a true professional, along with Orla, Jason and the kitchen team, Hughie, Marty and all the servers for making it a great night. But it would not have happened without your faith in us, you saw the hotel before it was renovated and before we had the full team in place, you saw what it could be...we are so happy it all paid off for you and wish you both a long future filled with happiness.

The Talbot Lodge is tucked away off the beaten track to Belmullet. Ideal if you want to get away from it all. The High Chaparral pub is next door so it could be described as the Wild West. To be fair the staff were very pleasant and the room was spacious and very comfortable and reasonably priced at 65 Euro B&B. Breakfast food was good but it's fend for yourself. Bar was pleasant at night but proved difficult to get table on Sunday evening as a resident. Did manage to squeeze on to end of bar and when food came it was good. Two very comfortable nights in four poster. Good bathroom and shower. Would stay again and recommend. Safe parking.

Thank you Rob for your review, I enjoyed your comment about the wild west, we're wild in a good way thankfully. Yes it is peaceful but also very beautiful in this coastal area, I can only imagine how nice it is to see it on a bike. Sorry we could not get you a table straight away but we're delighted you enjoyed the food and room. We would love to have you back and thank you for spreading the good word.

We spent the Easter weekend in the Talbot Lodge. From the moment we arrived, we could not have felt more at home. All the staff are so friendly and helpful, and nothing is too much trouble. This welcome extended to our dog, as the hotel is very pet friendly. We were able to sit by the fire in the lobby with him and truly relax.
The rooms are newly renovated as is most of the hotel. Our four poster bed was so comfortable, and that along with the quietness of the room ensured a great nights sleep. There were plenty of fluffy towels in the spotless bathroom.
Breakfast was delicious with a big choice of freshly cooked to order hot dishes as well as the usual bread, cereals etc. We were facilitated on our last morning with no problem to have a later breakfast.
We were also very impressed with the food on offer in the bar. There were lots of locals here too who clearly thought the same. We must mention the barman who was so friendly and helpful.
There are some beautiful beaches nearby such as Doohoma and Claggin, and the bigger town of Belmullet is a short drive away too.
All in all we had a fabulous long weekend and would definitely recommend the Talbot Lodge.

Thank you for your great review, The staff are delighted you had such a good time and that you enjoyed everything. Dogs are welcome and most of us have ones ourselves so know what its like to travel with a pet. The scenery and beaches are fabulous and empty so you can have the whole place to your self....heaven.

Stayed at The Talbot Lodge for our Wedding Anniversary Sept 2015 brought the kids with us to celebrate. Had family room which were 2 separate adjoining rooms .. Perfect size. Rooms are lovely. The bar is warm, cosy and very inviting! Got fabulous deal of B&B with Evening meal food was very good. Has a gorgeous reception area with warm fire to greet people. The staff are very very friendly and go out of their way to be helpful. It's a cracking place to stay to get away from it all.. If you like to eat drink sleep and relax its the spot for you. You will need transport to the main town about 5 mins drive away.. But the village this hotel is in does have a local shop and another pub near if you just prefer to wander near by for breath of fresh air. Will definitely return to The Talbot especially if they have the fabulous deals still on in the future.

Thank you for your review, We are delighted you enjoyed your experience at Talbot Lodge in Geesala, we have done a lot of work on the place and are still making improvements.Since you were with us reception has had a revamp, but you will be glad to hear the stove is still there to welcome guests and we still have some great local staff who are happy to help. The Lodge is a great place to escape with so many beautiful beaches and the 9 hole Doohoma Golf Course. It has a real village feel and you are sure of a welcome in Munnelly's Bar, and both local shops. The community hall is also being developed and hopefully will be ready soon. We will definitely remain competitive and would love to welcome you all back to see what we have been up to.
