Like everyone else taking staycations this year we were worried that our break away in this lovely hotel on the banks of the River Moy would be a disaster. We were pleasantly surprised; on arrival the hotel was well prepared with sanitisers on walls, well placed stickers outlining social distancing and the most wonderful staff any hotel could wish for. We were checked in promptly; we asked at reception if there was a kettle etc in our room, which there wasn't, but it was delivered promptly without any fuss. The room was beautiful with everything we could wish for including extra towels etc. A typed note explained that the room wouldn't be entered while in use so disposable bags were left so we could dispose of any rubbish which was to be placed outside out door for collection each morning.

The breakfast and dinner had to be pre-booked naturally to accommodate the residence and everything ran smoothly. The Ridgepool Restaurant, on the first floor, was large enough to cater for the numbers staying, with the social distancing not a problem. I have to say the breakfast was delightful, individually taken and served with a smile and hot which I prefer. Obviously freshly cooked and that was both mornings. The evening meal was so good we ate there both evenings; the staff both male and female were so helpful and professional the hotel should be proud that they employ such wonderful people. Well done to each member for this friendliness and hospitality.

We cannot wait to return again in the not too distant future. Thank you for making our stay such a success.

If you are looking for a modern hotel then maybe look for something else. This hotel is filled with carpets, chairs and curtains. The decor is tired but all clean and well kept. It's like 'why fix something when it's not broke'. And nothing is broke. The rooms were clean and warm, so warm we had to turn the heating off and open the windows fully. They have hairdryer tv and tea/coffee in the rooms. Extra pillow in the wardrobe and also am iron and ironing board. When was the last time you were given a key instead of a key card. I loved it. Breakfast is served in a beautiful light breakfast room. There is a choice and you are tended to by lovely polite and helpful staff. It makes a change from queuing up foe your breakfast in a buffet style. Reception staff were helpful and nice. Hotel closes its doors around 12 midnight and you gain access hereafter by calling the night porter to let you in..... might be a pain, but with its town location its definitely a good idea as anyone could walk in and out. We had a river view and it was nice to see the fishermen in the river. Parking is available but is limited.... we were lucky and got a spot, but 24 hour parking in an overflow carpark is very reasonable.
If you want to explore Ballina town then this si the perfect spot for you. We will definitely return.

Spent 2 lovely nights in Ballina Manor Hotel. The receptionist was very welcoming as we were so looking forward to our first few days away this year. We felt the way the hotel had prepared for visitors made us feel very safe and plenty of sanitiser stations were available. The food and service were first class as usual. Thankyou for looking after us so well.

I think there were some positives about staying in the hotel it was clean, the bed was comfortable, it was within walking distance of everything and the food was nice.

However for us the negatives just simply outweighed the positives. We were disappointed that when we booked dinner in the bar expecting it to be shambles bar as advertised online it was not it was a little nook beside the restaurant which I wouldn't really describe as a bar at all. The TV there was very small and the signal very poor (which of course I don't hold the hotel responsible for). When I said I thought there was a mistake that we were suppose to be in the bar for dinner assuming shambles I was told shambles had been closed for years. This really didn't suit a couple who love sport and wanted to watch a game.

The drink selection on draft was poor, no coors or merettie. The bottle of wine we then ordered the incorrect one was given to us. Even though I had booked to eat in the "bar" they were not ready for us at the time of the booking and the table was never set once we arrived we were just provided with cutlery as food arrived. The soup arrived without bread and we had to ask for that too. The food was delicious though we probably would return for a bite to eat.

There was an error with our bill. We were with friends so I instructed them that they could go ahead that I would sort it. After 20 minutes the bill was sorted. I asked numerous times that this was correct as our friends were treating us and they were not staying in the hotel.

There.was no card in the room to order room service so I had to ask reception for a menu (no issue). I wrote on the back of it what we wanted and left it back at reception the night before. The morning off we woke up earlier than expected so I suggested that I call down and say we were ready when they were. The hotel room phone was not working so I used my mobile to ring the hotels main line to request food (no issue).

The room service came and it just was not sharp. There were two hotel staff delivering breakfast. They joked and laughed the whole time while my partner stood like a good employee holding the door for them and not everything we ordered we provided.

At check out I was told there was a problem with my bill last night for dinner (at this time expecting an apology) and that a further error was made and I now had not paid enough after staying in the restaurant for 30 minutes the night previously trying to rectify the bill. I was told that they tried to contact me "numerous" times on the room phone. I explained that after the meal we had gone out for the evening 1 and 2 the phone was not working. The manager queried whether anyone checked I was telling the truth and that the room phone was working (a manager who was not even on site for this conversation) at which point I simply had enough and stated that she could go up and check, that I called reception off my mobile this morning to order room service and if they were trying to contact me " all night" and not getting an answer why didn't they simply call my mobile.

The experience was disappointing and quite embarrassing and it is very unlikely that we would stay again.

I stayed here in the Ballina Manor Hotel one night on business as essential worker.
I check in early as my room was ready I met the hotel receptionist her name was Carol I found her friendly and helpful she check me into a very spacious room overlooking the river Moy and the beautiful Cathedral.
The bed was comfortable and the room was very clean and I had a kettle in my room as I love my cup of tea.
I had dinner and the food was excellent I was served by a lovely friendly lady by the name Susan and she had a great personality and suited for the job she was doing I know the restaurant was not busy due to COVID but she served a few other essential workers on the night and she was thet same with them. So thank you Susan for your kind hospitality
I had a lovely break the next morning and was served by two young ladies they were pleasant.
I hope to get the opportunity to come back soon and I would have no hesitation staying here again and as a tour guide I will be recommending this hotel to my clients and friends.

We stayed in this hotel for a 2 night stay with our 2 grandchildren.
We will not be returning or recommending the Ballina Manor Hotel, absolutely horrible and a waste of our good hard earned money
Staff were so impersonal
Family room smelled like silage and in the corridor too.
When I was showering the cold water went off,the hot water was piping hot and burnt me whilst trying to get out of the shower, I immediately rang the receptionist she said she wasn't aware of any issues with the cold water but would find out and ring me back..we had booked a restaurant for 615 in the town,it was now 530,when she returned the call she said "yes the cold water has been turned off the plumbers are here working on an issue and they should have it repaired in 15 min"I was fuming and asked why weren't the guests informed regarding this matter,I had just showered my grandchildren it could have been serious.I explained we had booked a table and this was going to impact on our time slot.No response. It turns out we could not book for later time and ended up with chipper food in our room.
Breakfast was an nightmare,we waited 40 minutes for our food, with only some of it arriving.
The waitress said they were trying out a new system but it wasn't working.
I went to reception to speak with someone in charge but was told there was no management there at the moment.
And to top it off,as we left our room to check out we saw signs on the lift doors stating out of order. We were on the 4th floor and had 2 big suitcases, 2 back packs and our grandchildren had theirs too.
So we had to pull all our luggage down flights of stairs, the corridors were tiny and to be honest it was like a maze,no staff to point us In the correct direction, signs were extremely confusing,we ended up in the basement, again having to drag our bags back up stairs, it was absolutely appalling.
We had spend a few nights previously in another 4 Star hotel called The Hamlet Court it was absolutely amazing and a beautiful experience, staff couldn't do enough for their paying guests and the owner/manager was so friendly.
There is no way in my opinion the Ballina Manor hotel is anywhere near a 4 Star hotel.
On my return home on Thursday 6th of August 2020 I Emailed the hotel, they replied back and said they would pass on issues to the management team and someone would contact me on Saturday, it is now Tuesday 11th of August 2020 and guess what,we have received absolutely nothing.
I Emailed them again yesterday to say I would put a review up on this platform.
We decided to do the stacation to support the hotel industry during this Covid19 times,as they are struggling.
To be treated in this way is extremely unprofessional and concluds they are not bothered to make any guests stay a positive experience.
Absolutely shocking.

Very late booking, had to attend a funeral. The staff make this hotel great, they cannot do enough for you. Fantastic breakfast, again staff in the breakfast room were outstanding. A member of our group uses a wheelchair, within minutes the staff had a table sorted in the Ridge pool restaurant. Thank you.
Would definitely recommend this hotel and would use it again when in Ballina.

If it wasn't insulting enough that we were charged €179 for a filthy room and freezing cold breakfast, the hotel is a major safety hazard. The window latches are broken. We were on the second floor which is the thrid level. As this isn't the first review about this (I've read others as far back as February) I've contacted the H&S authority of Ireland with pictures provided. It's disgraceful that this is a four star hotel and they don't take things like this seriously.

On top of all this there's minimum parking in the underground car park so you've to park up the road in the cat park, go to the hotel for a parking permit, walk all the way back down the road and then do the same to check in. Nothing of this was mentioned when we rang to book

Overall very disappointing. We have business associates in Ballina and since the restrictions are lifting we can now start doing our meetings in person. We have a four hour drive each way so were hoping to find a permanent hotel for the trips we will be doing in the future. This hotel would have been ideal as location wise it's where we need to be.

I won't be staying again for the above reasons. At the very least I expect a somewhat decent effort made at cleaning in a 4S

Has to be the worst hotel I ever stayed in. The parking was the first issue, not enough spaces in the underground car park. We were told to park in the public car park 300m away but the hotel had no permits for it as they didn’t get to the county council office on time…. after checking in we made our way to our room through a maze of corridors and doors where there was a constant smell of damp. The room was very basic. I made my way over to the window only to find 3 big splatters of what looked like BLOOD on the net curtain, went straight back to reception and they apologised, they told us they would change our room but the receptionist said she needed to check our new room first, they told us to go to the bar for a free drink… arrived into our new room, first thing I noticed was a stain on the curtain, one of the pillows was very very badly stained and a pillowcase pulled over it but no problem in seeing the stains through the pillowcase, these stains appeared to be blood stains (pictures on my phone)…. We told the receptionist on checking out about the curtains and pillows to which she replied “sorry” I said it wasn’t good enough, she assured me the manager would call or email me but this has not happened yet.

This is a very low standard hotel charging extortionate prices, Will not be returning . Avoid.

I won a voucher from Mayo tourism for a 2night stay in the ballina Manor Hotel. I haven't stayed in ballina since I was a child. Myself and a friend decided we would climb Croagh Patrick and use the hotel as our base. Have to say from the moment we arrived the staff were absolutely fabulous. They were all so helpful and obliging. The lobby of the hotel is slightly dated but very comfortable and you can see there are refurbs being done throughout different areas of the hotel. We were given room 408 which I have to say was fantastic.. it was a huge room with lovely views of the river and two bathrooms both with showering facilities. Room was lovely and modern and very comfortable with tea/coffee and a great TV. We had breakfast on both mornings which was lovely and then had a 3 course dinner on our second night in the hotels restaurant. The food here was easily one of the nicest meals I've had and the cheesecake was divine so compliments to the chef. Again the serving staff, with one lady in particular who unfortunately I didn't get her name but she had glasses, were so friendly and efficient! I would definitely recommend this hotel to stay and its in a prime location for travelling around mayo and seeing the beautiful sights it has.
