Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

From the first contact with Jo-Ann we knew we were in for a fun trip (delayed by 2 years) and so it was. The lodge's location is all about fishing but also perfect for exploring Mayo and Connemara. Jo-Ann arranged fishing on Lough Conn and in the Moy estuary, and helped us plan an expedition. Fuelled by a big breakfast and comfortable night we were well prepared each day. Jo-Ann could not have been more welcoming and has a lot of very amusing tales!

Myself and a friend stayed with Jo Ann at pines tress lodge for a long weekend of salmon fishing. She is a great host, great breakfast and 1st class salmon fishing tips from Jo Ann herself. She’s a pro salmon angler. Great place to stay and we will be regular customers.

This little hidden haven of peace and tranquility is a perfect place to relax in comfort after a busy day. The land lady could not do enough for us. Rooms and the beds are very comfortable. The shower is just the business. Although we were not in Foxford for the fiishing, Pine Trees Lodge has everything to offer the weary traveller ie warm clean rooms, comfortable beds, fantastic shower, great breakfast and a helpful, welcoming landlady. Just spent a few days as guests of Jo-Ann & David who are very warm, friendly and accommodating hosts. Nothing is too much trouble for them and the facilities are perfect for a relaxing break. The accommodation is a perfect balance of being looked after by experienced B&B owners as well as the having private space of your own living & dining room. One piece of advice; bring your appetite for the impressive breakfast spread (full Irish cooked breakfast, cereal, fruit..the works!).The rates are very reasonable also. A thoroughly enjoyable stay!

My wife and I had a fantastic fishing week at Pinetrees Lodge. Jo-Ann and David are very friendly and uncomplicated people with a great passion for fishing. Their B&B is run with great enthusiasm and attention to detail, which made our holiday.
The charming house is surrounded by a very large and nice garden. The guest house includes 2 bed rooms which are not too big but super comfortable and equipped with everything we needed. Also, the private guest living room is very cosy with sofas, Sat TV, DVD etc. Well working WiFi is available, too. The cuisine was another highlight as Jo-Ann and David are very good cooks!
This was our very first fishing holiday and therefore we booked a guided fishing package (incl. all equipment). They both came with us fishing every day and gave great support. It was real big fun, very relaxing and we managed to catch our first Atlantic Salmon which we had smoked and shipped to Switzerland.
To summarise it’s one of the best B&Bs we’ve ever stayed in with lovely hosts, good food and a lot of fun at a real fair price. We will definitely be back!

We had a wonderful time staying with Jo and David, the gardens are amazing, my two young sons settled in so quickly it felt like home, it was all so relaxed. Jo and David were great hosts; they had the boys feeding the fish, picking their own strawberries and playing with Del the rugby playing dog! Jo's cooking went down really well every evening, it was great she used lots of her own home grown veg and salad along side the tasty main dishes. Jo and David were great company too, great fun and very entertaining and of course my husband really enjoyed chatting with real fishing folk! We took a boat out on Lough Conn for a day which was wonderful, it was really calm and we stopped off on a few islands so we could picnic and obviously dig for treasure. Of course the icing on the cake was my husband's fishing morning with David at Coolcronan fishery when my husband caught his first Moy salmon on the fly. We'll definitely be back.

We had a lovely time here and were made to feel extraordinarily welcome by Joanne and David. They both went above and beyond to make our trip successful and had lots of knowledge to share about the area and the local fishing.

The full Irish breakfasts a hearty and tasty, the rooms are clean and well appointed we could not have asked for better.

If you are fishing the river is just down the road (you will need a salmon permit and a permission for the fishery) and David and Joanne have lots of knowledge and will be able to put you in touch with a local gillie.

If you are looking for a simple, welcoming place to stay in the Foxford/Ballina area this has to be one of the very best.

I think I might be back as soon as conditions look good for fishing!

Oh, and Del the Collie is lovely.

Stayed for three nights in June and thoroughly enjoyed the visit. Joanne and David are wonderful hosts and nothing was too much trouble. They are both keen and accomplished anglers and couldn't have been more helpful to a first time visitor to the Moy! Great place to stay and would wholeheartedly recommend it, particularly to fishermen!!

Me and my 3 friends stayed here for a week-end fishing in the river Moy. The place is great as far as accomodations and food goes, but even better was the genuine care of our hostcouple Jo Ann and Lord David. David showed us good fishingspots, local methods, and Jo Ann cooked us lovely meals after our vigourous attempts to hook salmon in the river. We will return.

What a great guest house. Jo-Ann and David couldn't be more accommodating. Their guest house is spacious and roomy enough for you to have your own 'little bit of Ireland' all to yourselves.

The hosts are always on hand and their knowledge of the rivers and local spots for catching the illusive River Moy salmon is first hand.

The lodge is set about 2 miles outside of Foxford centre so a hire car is a must if you've flown it to Knock airport. Also if you want to access some of the other fishing hotspots down in Ballina or Sea Trout fishing off Westport, a car is essential.

One last thing: The gardens to the lodge are amazing. Three large ponds with some beautiful Coy. Decking round them, then leading out in to the garden to a large fishing hut where you can re-fly your rods and talk about the 'one you almost landed'. In my opinion Jo-Ann and David should recognized not only for their superb hosting but also their enviable house and gardens.

A place to return to.
