Detailed Reviews
This was a great find in the picturesque town of Foxford in the heart of Mayo. Hotel room was comfortable and spotless with a modern and clean bathroom. Wonderful staff with the often taken for granted “cead míle fáilte”. Breakfast was substantial and freshly cooked. Great dinner menu. Great attractions nearby - river walks along the Moy river, the home of Foxford Woollen Mills, the birthplace of the celebrated Admiral William Brown & Michael Davitt & the origins of the Mayo GAA curse!
Best of all is the value for money, especially if you are on a tight budget. As accommodation prices increase in Ireland this has been one of the best value for money establishments. So take a short detour from the Wild Atlantic Way and discover Foxford!

My wife and I stayed for three nights, our room was small but comfortable. The shower was a walk-in wet room with plenty of power. The staff and owners were very friendly and the meals were very good. We booked direct and would highly recommend the hotel which was refurbished last year to a high standard by the new owners.

From the warm welcome to the fabulous interior you won't be disappointed when u step threw the door of this little gem .
The boutique style of the hotel and long with the old traditional hospitality of a small village really sets the Moy hotel apart from others .

Stayed two nights recently at the Moy Hotel.
The stay was disappointing, firstly we looked for some food in the restaurant and we were told that the kitchen was now closed, despite being said in the literature in the room that last orders were at 20:30. We were not advised at check in that the kitchen would be closed early. The member of staff said that they cannot accommodate us and suggested we try somewhere else in the town even though we would have been happy with a sandwich or something light.
The room was basic, no tea and coffee facilities and had to request them.
The cleanliness of the room was basic, there was a towel on the back of the bathroom door from the earlier occupant and there was a lot of dust around the TV and the back of it.
Breakfast was basic and not much of a choice, had to ask for orange juice, the staff member did not know if they had any.
During the stay we attended a function, the meal was a sit down meal, the food itself was lovely, however the service was not. Many tables had finished their main course before other tables even got served.
When checking out, this took ages for someone to come to the desk.
Over all the stay was disappointing and that there are definitely not enough experienced staff around.
I would eat there again, but I will not be staying.

So very disappointed- will not be returning or recommending to friends. Having been here when it first opened and enjoying the whole dining experience I automatically stopped today when travelling through Foxford with a friend. We asked to be seated and were left without a menu or a jug of water for 5 minutes. My friend went to ask for menus and if we could have some water. When it did arrive we asked to order drinks. These were forgotten. We had to call staffs attention to order food and re ask for drinks. It appeared the 3 staff were enjoying each other’s company. When the Prosecco arrived it was warm and my friend went instantly back up to the bar to let them know- instead of being given a replacement she was given a glass of ice.
When the meal arrived the chips were dreadful. Very pale and tasted like they were yesterday’s reheated. At no point did any of the staff come to see if our meal was okay. We had been out all day and were hungry so did eat- I now wish we had just left it, as I didn’t feel great driving home, but that was my choice. When we called someone over to pay we explained that our whole experience had not been great and was so different to when we had come before. She kindly said she would let the chef know and give our feed back.

Visited the hotel with a large family group who were able to accommodate us at fairly short notice. Wide selection of food, drinks & deserts. Excellent food and service provided. Really enjoyed our time there and we had the large private room at the back of the lounge which I am sure the other guests appreciated too as we had 6 lively young children with us!

We dined there in late September. The food was great but our evening was made by Ria the most entertaining host, quick witted, charming and attentive to detail. With staff like Ria the hotel which has recently open will have tears of success.

My colleague and I were among the first guests to stay in this newly renovated hotel. We got such a warm welcome from all the team. We were offered tea/coffee on arrival which was a nice touch after a long journey. The rooms are beautiful decorated, spotlessly clean, warm and bed was so comfortable. Lunch and dinner in the bar was delicious with something on the menu to suit all tastes. Lovely atmosphere and lovely people. Highly recommend if you are in the area for business or pleasure.

Delicious dinner, in a busy restaurant on a Monday evening. Each of our 7 meals was fantastic value and quality.
Staff were all so helpful and friendly. The staff really are such an asset in the bar and restaurant, they just made our visits very enjoyable. Well done, everyone.
