We really liked Moy Lodge - it's very centrally located with a very short walk to a nice pub and nearby restaurant. Jason and Michelle are great hosts - helpful and informal, the bedrooms are clean and comfortable and the breakfast was very good. There is room to park in front

The owners give great attention to detail and provide excellent breakfasts, clean well-appointed rooms, good wi-fi. Central location is within 10 minutes walk of everywhere in Foxford. Unsurpassed in my experience of B&B's.

I booked a double room for a one night stay at Moy Lodge B&B, Foxford. I paid the fee for a double room which was advertised on the page, which was the non cancellation price. Under the search criteria I searched for two people for the date I wanted to stay and Moy came up as ava

Response from Jason M, Owner at Moy Lodge Bed & Breakfast
Responded 3 Sep 2018
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We have been waiting to see whether you would leave a review of your recent stay with us and we acknowledge your review, although negative. To those who don’t know about us, we are a small 3 bedroom Bed & Breakfast, based in Foxford, County Mayo run by husband and wife team, Jason and Michelle. Getting back to your review, we wish to correct a few inaccuracies in what you have raised, as well as explain to those who read this what actually happened. 1. We greeted you pleasantly on your arrival, in the car park but expressed surprise that 2 people had arrived when the double room had been booked for 1 person. 2. We explained at that time that your reservation made via Booking.com was incorrect. You had booked a double room for single occupancy instead of what you actually wanted and presented with, which was a double room at double occupancy. 3. You were very surprised that a double room could be reserved for single occupancy as well as double occupancy. 4. We explained that we have had plenty of people book the room for single occupancy via Booking.com without any issues, but that we have had a couple of bookings which had accidently booked the room at single occupancy when they wanted double occupancy but that it had been resolved amicably when we compared the Booking.com confirmation forms. 5. You were also surprised that we had to add another set of towels and mug/glass/spoon to the room as we stock the room differently depending on the occupancy of the room. 6. This was not our error, we never made the booking. You made the booking. 7. Despite the proof we showed you, the Booking.com booking confirmation form explaining that you had reserved a double room at single occupancy (max guest 1), you failed to provide any proof by e-mail/paper/documents to support your double occupancy r eservation. 8. You never paid for the room upfront. You secured the reservation with a credit card and no money was taken from it. 9. Your husband paid for your room via credit card at 8.10pm, as you were leaving to go for food at the restaurant we suggested. We are glad you had a nice meal. 10. The difference in the single occupancy rate and the double occupancy rate was 25 Euro not 40 Euro. 11. When we highlighted the difference between the single occupancy rate and double occupancy rate, you became abusive and rude. You accused us of among other things, ‘underhanded tactics’ by charging you the correct amount for the correct occupancy of the room you reserved. 12. The reason why we didn’t refuse your custom, which was within our rights to do so given the barrage of abuse and false accusations being shouted at us, was because we felt it wasn’t a very Christian thing to do, leaving you with nowhere to stay, especially as you were going to see the Pope visit in Knock Shrine early the next morning and you had travelled a long way and t that the time was 7.30pm. 13. The reason why your booking was within our cancellation policy was because you made the reservation at 12.36pm on the Saturday afternoon and you arrived 7 hours later the same day. 14. Your husband mentioned that if you were to cancel your room you would not receive any money back. We stated that you were within our cancellation policy but that if you were unhappy with us or our B&B we would waive the fee and wouldn’t charge you the cancellation fee so that you were free to leave and find another accommodation provider with no charge from us. 15. In order to save you falling foul of the same problem again, I even showed your husband where you had gone wrong on the Booking.com App, which he saw, understood and accepted. 16. As you were checking out early the following morning and would miss our breakfast times (8am to 10am), we made you both a packed lunch the night before, which you were both thankful for. 17. I greeted you the following morning and wished you a good day, to which you husband wished me a good morning but alas you didn’t say anything. Whilst we anticipated your negative review and given everything that happened, we are still at a loss as to why you continued to stay with us if you were that unhappy with our B&B or ourselves before you were even shown to your room? You could have booked to stay alot closer to Knock Shrine, for less money and left our B&B without any charge owing. We would like to take this opportunity to highlight to you that should you have any concerns/problems with your bookings in future, that you approach the accommodation provider and discuss calmly your concerns/problems and compare booking forms. Remember, however, that everyone is human and that people make mistakes, even when booking accommodation but that manners cost nothing and to apologise when you are in the wrong. Wishing you all the best for your future travels.

I stayed there for one night in the most tidy and clean room I ever had in an accommodation. The single room was really cosy, absolutely tastefully and lovingly furnished and had everything a traveller needs after a long day on the road – such as a small fridge with cold water, a
