Luxury Glamping pods set in a stunning location overlooking Trawmore bay and Belmullet town. Access to Claggan Island is via a causeway/beach and is accessible all year round. We do however have to allow for high tides, we can get cut off for 1-2 hours during spring tides (3 or 4 days per month for 1-2hours each day) The pods have been located to provide our guests with stunning views combined with the peace and tranquillity that only island living can provide. The Pods are set in the heart of a working farm where cows & calves will be grazing only yards away from where you sleep. The farmyard is full of a variety of hens & ducks of all breeds. We also have a thriving rabbit population on Claggan island. The pods are ideal as a romantic getaway or for families with small children. The pods are a 5 minute walk from the beach, where both beaches are safe for children to play and the sea is safe to swim, with no dangerous currents. The pods have been arranged to provide luxury accommodation in a stunning location, they each have a double bed and pull out couch so can easily sleep up to 4 adults or 2 adults and 3 small children. Each pod is also equipped with a toilet and whb, 4 double sockets & an oil heater to keep you cosy in winter. There is a communal kitchen/shower area in a converted barn 70 yards from the pods. There are 2 shower rooms with pumped showers & shaving points. The kitchen/dining area is equipped with dishes, cutlery, pot & pans, BBQ equipment, fridge, 4 ring gas hob, microwave, kettle & toaster. It also has a solid fuel stove for the cold winter months. The barn offers stunning views of Blacksod Bay & Achill Island. We also have a gas BBQ available to rent. We do not cater for large groups or parties, it is all about enjoying the peace and quiet and of course the stunning scenery Erris has to offer.

We stayed in the Pods as a family of six. We received a very warm welcome from Laurence Senior who had the stove lighting for us in the communal area. We had this to ourselves as we rented both Pods and the facilities for cooking and relaxing were spotlessly clean and the showers and bathrooms were very good with plently of hot water. There was a four ring gas hob, oven, toaster, nespresso machine and fridge with separate freezer for our own personal use so felt really at home and cooked on our first two nights and ate out on our third night.
The tranquility of the island was something we all really enjoyed and appreciated and makes it a very unique experience. The beaches are beautiful and we had these to ourselves and swam in the ocean. The animals all around were very special we loved getting to know them. We all agreed that three nights was not enough so we hope to return for a week next year. You will leave feeling refreshed and very well taken care of.
The CGS is in close proximity to The Erris Loop trail and Ceathru Thaidhg which are a must when visiting Belmullet. You may not want to leave the little oasis that is Claggan Island and there would be nothing wrong with that either!
Looking forward to another stay already.
I would highly recommend a stay here it has all you need for a unique and upmarket glamping experience with a truly home from home feel to it.
Thanks to Laurence Senior and Junior for a memorable family trip.
Wishing you the best in these very difficult times.
Best Wishes,
Healy-Erkena and Byrnes Family.

We had a fantastic 2 days in the pods. Wonderful experience from start to finish.
Laurence and family have created an absolute gem here.
The pod was spotless, perfectly laid out for a family of 2 adults and 2 kids

The view in the morning is something to behold. The communal kitchen/shower area was ideal and great access.

The local knowledge for food, trips etc was perfect

Laurence was good enough to light the campfire for smores for us despite the wind :)

The drive across the beach to reach the pods really has to be seen to be believed

We will definitely be back. Amazing

We are just back from a 3 night stay. Absolutely amazing haven, spotless pod which easily slept 2 adults and 2 kids. Lawrence Senior and Junior are never far and always available for a chat or info on the area. We wanted a quiet break during these uncertain times and that is exactly what we got. The beaches have to be seen to be believed, so quiet, we had them to ourselves. There is a shared kitchen and shower area available for the 2 pods which are spotless. Everything marked for each pod so there is no crossover of use with the other visitors. Lovely restaurants with outdoor dining available in nearby Belmullet. We will definitely be back.

I would highly recommend staying here. The pod comfortably slept two adults and three children under nine years old. It was very clean with a good size bathroom with a shower. On site was a well equipped communal kitchen. Lovely location and walking distance from town.

Just returned from a week in this beautiful place,a true hidden gem. Apart from the amazing views, stunning, tranquil, private beaches the hosts are exceptional!.
Every aspect is thought of, down to the fire on, the turf refill ready.
Always at hand to help!, o and thee amazing buckets of freshly picked mushrooms, thank you Lawrence.
As much as I'd like to keep this hidden gem a secret, as a mum of 5, I know other families would really appreciated this amazing safe, clean and relaxing environment. Beautiful clean, warm pods. Excellent facilities.
Looking forward to returning again in the future.

My Mum and I stayed in one of the pods for 2 nights last week and we had the most amazing time. What a perfect location with the most amazing views you could wish for. The peace of waking up and going to sleep there was just what was needed along with the most beautiful sunsets. Laurence and his family are the most amazing hosts and really made our experience, going out of their way to get us on a boat trip to Achill Island which was great. Such a friendly family. I would highly recommend a trip here and the drive in and out across the dunes was great fun.

We have just returned from a fantastic 2 night stay in the Belmullet Coast Guard Station Pods and would highly recommend for couples looking for a getaway with a difference. We were blessed with excellent weather but with or without good weather, you are guaranteed spectacular scenery, The pods were clean, warm and very comfortable. Beautiful drives and hikes are all nearby but you can also just simply walk down the road for an amazing beach walk in daylight or under the stars!

We are just back from another fabulous weekend at claggan island coastguard station pods. The setting is stunning and the glamping pods are gorgeous. Laurance and family look after their guests so well, nothing is too much trouble.
It was stormy while we were there and we really appreciated the big fire lit for us in the kitchen each morning . The children loved walking down to the beach and swimming in the sea. We were able to use the hot showers and kitchen even after checkout on our last day .
We are already looking forward to our next visit!
