Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

From the minute you arrive you know you have found a new home. Maureen, the owner greets you with a warm smile and says ‘the house is yours, make the most of it’ , and she means it. With stunning views, waking up with the cows and the birds, and a home cooked Irish breakfast to your liking, sets a beautiful course for the day. Spotlessly clean, the rooms are well appointed with everything one needs including a few extras not always found, for example lighted mirrors and a hairdryer. Belmullet has a wonderful downtown with several deservedly highly rated restaurants including Talbot’s Seafood restaurant and Western Strands. Kemar house is perfectly located to give you easy access to all the things that area of County Mayo offers. All in all, Maureen and her family deserve a “ten”. We highly recommend a stay at Kemar House.

The B&B is located about 3km from Belmullet so you'll need to budget for taxis if you want to go to the village for a pint. Upon arrival we were told our room number and that was the first and last we saw of the host, no showing us to the room or the usual niceties. Our room was small but clean We paid €90 for a double room for one night, this didn't include breakfast, we may have paid the extra €10 per person for the breakfast if it had been offered upon arrival but it wasn't. In hindsight I'm glad we didn't, €90 is about the standard price for a room including breakfast, we had a delicious breakfast in the village for less than that per person.

We stayed for 2 nights with my 2 kids and my mom. Also 2 frenchies. Had great time, many beaches around, easy to access. Breakfast was lovely and plenty. Garden very clean and well maintained, kids loved the playground. The dogs could stay in our rooms, and moved around inside on lead. Outdoor they were free to run. Had a small kennel where we left them while went out for dinner to the local hotel... we had a good time, got good recommendations for sigjtseeing.

On arrival, we said that the booking (a double room) was for 1 but there are 2 of us now to which the host replied that our room number was 1. Nothing else was mentioned to us.. We assumed this would be dealt with later or upon checkout next morning. We were in rush to drop our stuff and head to Carrowteige to complete a 3hr coastal hike, (30mins from Belmullet), and we had returned to Belmullet for half 10 where shops were closed apart from a chinese & chipper. We got a chinese, brought it back assuming like every other hotel/b&b we’ve stayed in before that it’s totally fine. We ate our food in the lounge area (across from our room) that we noticed was for guests, which had a table as we didn't want to spill anything in the room. Afterwards we had a Mayfair cigarette outside the property then returned to the lounge where we were greeted by the host Kevin who asked us what we were doing here, to which my friend replied, having our chinese. Kevin fired off, screamed at both of us to the point that I couldn’t speak and was nearly in tears to which Kevin commented “Are you going to start hyperventilating now”. The verbal abuse and screaming was truly traumatic. My friend was trying to explain very calmly it was originally booked for 1 person and on arrival we had stated that it was now for 2 people. However each time we tried to explain this, numerous times, we were interrupted by anger and shouting from Kevin who had said that his wife was never told the booking was for 2 people. This abuse continued for a good hour with the woman arriving shortly after and both of them accused us of "trying to pull a fast one", smoking inside the property, “whack tabbacy” which the host clarified the meaning i.e drugs, and judged our belongings as mess in the room. By the end we felt so unsafe and uncomfortable we ended up booking another place at 12:45am, drove an hour to get there on dark, unknown roads.

Stayed here recently and have to say we'll be staying here again! Kevin and Maureen run a great B&B - good, clean, comfortable rooms and a breakfast that is excellent. Their hospitality and personal service sets them apart.

A lovely place, ideal to relax and enjoy the tranquility and beauty of the Belmullet Peninsula. The hosts, Maureen and Kevin, made us feel at home, really friendly. The room was very cozy, with fabulous views and a truly comfortable bed.

Lovely stay in Kemar House. Spacious, clean room with beautiful views of the peninsula. Comfy bed and a delicious breakfast. The proprietor was even kind enough to drop me into town the next morning to collect my car. Can't fault the place. Only thing to be aware of is that it's about 3km from Belmullet town.

we were coming to Bellmullet to visit family not realizing the pope was in Knock on the Saturday so everywhere we tried was fully booked. Weren't we the lucky ones, this place came up at a really reasonable price for a family room just outside town. We couldn't find it on 1st arrival but the landlady very kindly drove to the town centre and met us then led us back. When we got back she made us hot drinks and gave us run of the breakfast room to have the sandwiches and snacks we'd brought with us before going to bed. She them said to my teenage daughter would you rather have a room of your own as you don't want to share with mum and dad, and I've got no one else in, and gave her a lovely large double en-suite room to herself! she was well happy! The beds in this establishment were like sleeping in big fluffy clouds. There was also a lovely continental breakfast provided in the mornings prepared by the husband who is also really friendly. We were also provided with our own private lounge and the most spectacular views. The place is amazing and will definitely book again when visiting Bellmullet again. a real gem and highly recommend

My husband and I stayed in Kemar house for 4 nights over the bank holiday weekend. The hosts were very accommodating and we packed in a lot, thanks to their local knowledge etc. Room was very clean and we enjoyed a lovely breakfast each morning. Thoroughly enjoyed the weekend and Belmullet and surrounding area is a great get away from it all with plenty of outdoor activities and beautiful scenery. People are very friendly and welcoming and the local restaurants and pubs accomodate all your needs.😀

The welcome, the food (of which there was no choice) the room and the bathroom/recreation facilities were of a disinterested and outdated nature. The prices were not sadly. Very 1980s in all aspects and overpriced. Distinct impression the proprietors couldn't care less one way or another and only interested in cash. Avoid if you've any expectations.
