I was warmly greeted by the owner of the guest house, Josephine. My room was spotless and I had a fabulous view of the surrounding countryside and mountains from my bedroom window.
Top marks for the breakfast. I had a very tasty and filling “ Full Irish “ each morning.
There was also a vast selection of cereals, seeds, fruit, yoghurts, juices , breads as well as a choice of teas and freshly brewed cafetière coffees. Wonderful beaches only a kilometre away. The guest house is about 12 km from Belmullet. Ample safe parking.

My husband and I spent two lovely nights at Bru Chlann Lir while enjoying the beautiful Belmullet peninsula. Josephine's lodgings provided us with an immaculate, well appointed, cozy and quiet room. Breakfast, as noted by every other reviewer, is well beyond adequate. She was able to accommodate my husbands dietary needs without missing a beat. Josephine made us feel very much welcomed at her home and went our of her way to insure that we had all we needed. We look forward to our next visit!

I decided at the last minute to head off for a few days on a photography trip to the Mullet Peninsula. Bru Chlann Lir is such a hidden gem and Josephine was so friendly and welcoming. The room was percect for a solo traveller, very comfortable bed, powerful shower and incredibly fast wifi. It is a great base for exploring. Breakfast was fantastic and kept me going for the whole day. And on Josephine's advice, I took the day trip to Iniskea Island, south.

I would highly recommend Bru Chlann Lir, it cannot be beaten for comfort, friendliness and is a home from home

And as for the Mullet Peninsula, I got some fantastic images, which I am still editing. I have travelled the length and breath of this island and tbought I had seen it all..but this place is stunning. A huge recommend.

What a lovely little spot. Warm, welcoming and a home from home. You really couldn't ask for more from a B&B or a hostess. Everything you could need is provided or available and, as all the reviews state, the breakfast is amazing. You won't get better in any hotel. If you are on the Mullet and need a bed, stay here!

Just back from a wonderful weekend in Belmullet. Josephine was the perfect hostess and we felt very welcome. The bedroom is spotless and very comfortable, it had everything we needed. Great selection for breakfast. The location is perfect for touring the peninsula and there are several stunning beaches very close by.
We stayed for two nights with our five month old pup who was made feel just as welcome as us.
Top tip: get a take away from Belmullet and head down the peninsula. Stop at one of the many many scenic spots and enjoy 😄

I booked here purely because on all the hotel websites it had the last two free rooms in the Belmullet area and ended up with two double rooms for single occupancy for my cousin and me, on a family history exploration. (To my amazement, the owner later dropped the room price quoted as we were each alone.) I am not a regular B&B user but this place has blown away all my prejudices.
The warmth of our welcome and the helpfulness of the owner were truly exceptional. And this despite our arriving in the middle of a family tragedy for them. We were offered tea and coffee every time we saw anyone from the family.
There is a pleasant sitting area for guests.
My room (one double and one single bed) was the only one on the ground floor, ideal with my big luggage and poorly knees. The staircase to the upper floor is narrow and winding, but the rooms upstairs are more private and have marginally better views. (The scenery is lovely anyway.)
Excellent shower room with all amenities (even face flannels), no hairdryer that I noticed but I am sure one could be found on request as nothing seems too much trouble. Very comfortable bed albeit too many fussy cushions for my taste. Free wifi. Big folder of leaflets of local restaurants and attractions, TV, tea and coffee making equipment.
The breakfasts are really great, including lovely fresh fruit every day, and all manner of cooked breakfast dishes.
I had a complaint about my lack of hot water but it turned out that I should have been forcing the knob past a "sticking point" so it was operator error not the fault of the house...
This place is a B&B so you have to eat out and the nearest decent restaurants are up in Belmullet, 15-20 minutes drive away. Otherwise I cannot fault it as a place to stay in the area.
NB They use an old sliding credit card machine with paper copies (not chip and pin) so my euro money travel card did not work as the numbers were insufficiently raised. You need a credit card with heavily embossed details.

This was a great B&B for many reasons. The Belmullet area is lovely in a wild way. it is one of the farthest outcroppings on the West Coast, County Mayo, and it is very rugged and beautiful. Proprietress Josephine Geraghty couldn't have been more friendly and helpful to me in tracing information about my Geraghty relatives. Although I was not able to connect with relative Tommy Geraghty while in Belmullet, Josephine (no relative of mine) was extremely helpful and did know some of my fmaily history. She runs a tidy, attractive, and efficient B&B. Also, she recommended a wonderful restaurant (trained in Europe chef) that we wouldn't have gone to without a recommendation. It's called Fun Bobby's, and the food is terrific, regardless of the casual name. I can recommend both without reservation.

Just back from a night here. Couldn't recommend staying here enough. We were welcomed with tea and scones and hot chocolate for our daughters. The room was spotless and comfortable. Great choices for breakfast too. We will definitely stay with Josephine again when down in Erris.
