Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Located only 1.5 hrs from Knock West airport, Belmullet sits at the gateway to all that north Mayo has to offer, especially for the outdoorsy traveller. Drom Caoin is just outside the town centre, with stunning views over the nearby hills, the bay and the Belmullet peninsula (a geologist's heaven). From the start you get the warmest of welcomes from the Murphys, including tea and cake, as well as recommendations on places to eat, things to see and how to pronounce the trickier place names - particularly helpful when force 8 gales made field work too dangerous. The bed was comfy, the room pleasantly warm, the internet speedy (especially for the west coast) and the morning breakfast will easily sustain you until lunch (or beyond). A particular plus to me was the ability to leave

Beautiful located about 10 minute walk from Belmullet town. Máirín made us feel very welcome and made some great breakfasts. The rooms where spacious, and cleaned every day. I had a lovely view at the back viewing the country side. Happy we choose to stay at Drom Caoin!

I wanted a place to rest my head, up in the morning, have breakfast and spend the day doing all the things tourist do. I found it right here. For me this was perfect, quiet, peaceful, beautiful scenery in all directions, plus two of the most hospitable host on earth. Breakfast was the true Irish breakfast, food was everywhere around the room. Admittedly this was my first time in a B&B, I absolutely loved it especially the price. Hotels are now considered only after I have checked out all the B&B's. If you are going to Belmullet, Co. Mayo, Ireland THIS B&B IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!

Máirín and Gerry were lovely hosts, whose hospitality extended through a range of knowledge and activities. First things first, we were directed to a beautiful creamy pint in one of the local pubs, McDonnells. (Thanks Pádraig for your hospitality too!) Breakfast on the first morning was very tasty and catered well for us non-meat eaters. When we heard the sound of grinding coffee beans we knew we were on a winner. Máirín also has a thorough knowledge of wine which kept Des well and truly engaged, each providing the other with recommendations and tasting notes. Brekkie the second day was "pot luck" and turned out to be a scrumptious Irish dish called Boxty which had all the veggie trimmings. We stayed in a suite which was warm and cosy. Views were just beautiful from every

I really enjoyed my short stay here - I was just one evening, but I felt so welcomed. Mairin was incredibly helpful in local sights (and a gorgeous beach sunset!) as well as helping me plan a weekend outing. The sitting room was beautiful, and a very relaxing. I would highly recommend!

Brilliant place to stay, great hospitality and great standard of cleanliness. Last minute trip, stayed here for 3 weeks and I couldn't have asked for better. A cosy place whilst the wind whistled outside. Thanks, much appreciated Mairín. John

Great location - just a short walk to Belmullet town. Lovely room with a great view. Had fabulous breakfast - fresh fruit and variety of nuts and seeds with cereals and followed by a lovely full irish with homemade soda bread. Maureen was very friendly . Stayed with my sister as we were golfing in carne.

In early August, we spent 4 nights in this B&B and found it be quite comfortable and run efficiently by friendly hosts. Our room was spacious and clean, it had some great views, and we slept soundly. To our delight breakfast was fantastic with several choices offered, all of which were delicious. The coffee was especially notable. On this trip to Ireland, we stayed in 8 different places, and Drom Caoin had the best breakfast. The hostess suggested a locale for a walk which proved to be breathtaking. We highly recommend Drom Caoin to anybody traveling to the Belmullet area. Dan & Jane

My wife and I spent two nights recently at this B&B ideally situated in Belmullet for exploring the Belmullet peninsula. Arrived on a very wet afternoon and were offered tea and scones and a fire was lit for us in the lounge by Gerry. We had a lovely large room, normally used for self catering. Breakfast the next morning was excellent with a good choice of cereals, fresh fruit, juice, breads, scones and a full cooked breakfast or, if we preferred scrambled eggs with smoked salmon or poached eggs. Mairin and Gerry looked after us very well and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend the place to others visiting that area of Mayo. A lovely two days, thank you both. Bob & Joyce C

I was back for Fair Day in Belmullet and, of course, I stayed at Drom Caoin. This is the only place I will stay while visiting. I've stayed here for over thirty years. I feel I'm family. You know you are experiencing the real Irish hospitality. They go out of their way to make your stay the best. The breakfasts are outstanding. Try to get them to make the Boxty Pizza, Don't look any further. Book it!
