Mairin is an amazing host, so kind and caring.
We arrived early, after a long over night trip. She gave us access to our room so we could freshen up. Even though the room was not ready it was super clean, beautifully furnished and fresh towels appeared as if by magic for us.
Breakfast was freshly cooked to order and plentiful.
If you are visiting the area I would recommend staying in a heartbeat.

Drom Caoin was recommended to us by family and our stay couldn't have been any better. We were late to arrive but Máirín stayed up to welcome us and show us to our room, which was very comfortable with a very nice en-suite full bath. The next morning, we were also late to arise (still adjusting to the time change) but Máirín and Gerry made sure we had all the offerings of their amazing breakfast. It was lovely to get to know our hosts and share some stories, but the topper was their advice on where to go during our visit to Belmullet. The west coast of Ireland is amazing, and Belmullet is a hidden gem. We are very thankful for the kindness and hospitality of our hosts.

I can honestly say that this is the friendliest place I have ever stayed in. Mairin, who is a wine expert and a fantastic cook gave us outstanding service and if any minor detail was not to our liking she addressed it straight away. Highly recommended!

No tea or coffee in bedroom or tv, when you just want to chill on your own. Apparently there is a room downstairs that you can watch tv in with others. Also we found out on leaving that you can help yourself to tea or coffee in the owners kitchen. Room was very dated and the cold water in our room went off twice for a few minutes.

Recently, the HA & myself decided to 'staycation' in our beloved Mayo. We were fortunate to get accommodation in Drom Caoin, where we have stayed on a few occasions in the past. The accommodation was superb as usual & Covid 19 procedures were visible & available throughout. Although our accommodation was self contained & geared for self catering, we were treated to a breakfast that would do justice to any 5 star hotel. There was an array of fruits & cereals & though we did not avail of it on this occasion, we were offered a variety of cooked breakfasts by our charming hostess, Mairín. During our stay, the weather was beautiful but the quality of our accommodation & the hospitality extended to us, enhanced our experience enormously. Next time we are in the area, we will want to stay at Drom Caoin again & we would recommend it to anybody wishing to visit the area.

I can't recommend Drom Caoin enough! I organized a golf trip for a group of 6 and this was perfect for what we needed. Mairin is a fantastic host, serves a great breakfast, got us tee times at Carne, and was so responsive throughout our planning. Her house is comfortable, perfectly clean, and walkable to McDonnell's bar and local restaurants. I left a rain jacket behind and Mairin went out of her way to contact me and overnight the jacket to our next hotel. First class experience and I can't wait to return!

Friendly, spotlessly clean, spacious room and a wonderful breakfast. An easy walk into town. Thoroughly enjoyed my 3 night stay with Mairin and Gerry. Hope to stay at Drom Caoin many more times in the future. Chris Davies Aurora, Ontario Canada

I enjoyed a beautiful - if all too short - stay!

I received a warm welcome and had a great night’s sleep. Fabulous vegetarian breakfast in the morning. Amazing views over to Achill Island from the venue. Would like to return and stay longer.

My family stayed at Drom Caoin in July 2011, and we were surprised at the low quality of the accomodations. Having read all the rave reviews on the web, we had been looking forward very much to our stay there. We loved Belmullet, but this B&B was inferior to every other B&B we've stayed in in the west of Ireland, and that includes at least 25 (in Kerry, Galway, Clare, and other places) over the past 30 years. Some details: our room was uncomfortable; the mattresses were lumpy, the room was ugly, the bathroom was inconvenient, and it was full of bugs. At breakfast we had to wait 15 minutes for coffee, delayed while Mrs. Murphy asked every member of our party how he or she had enjoyed himself or herself the day before. The questioning had no special warmth; it seemed rather routine. And we were dying for coffee. We had some urgent questions when we arrived, but one of the Murphys was always on the phone and unable to talk to us. -- I would return to Belmullet, but not to Drom Caoin.

July 2005 we spent three glorious weeks exploring Western Ireland. Our base was the coastal town of Belmullet. What made our visit so special was staying in the B&B operated by Mairin and Gerry Maguire-Murphy, "Drom Caoin". Their home commands sweeping views of fields, horses, homes, town and down to the many ocean bays. And beyond to intriguing islands waiting exploration. This is the rugged, lush, green, wild Ireland we we had envisioned. Mairin and Gerry are warm, friendly and helpful. Always making sure we were comfortable and cosy in the spotlessly clean well appointed rooms. The home is nicely landscaped with shrubs, flowers and even a veggie patch that we were welcome to. After Mairins delicious breakfast we were ready to explore cliff walks, ancient sites, distant islands, bog walks, fishing and nearby towns. They were very helpful with suggestions and directions that made each day special. If I was writing a book, this is were I would cosy up and spend my winter...the Atlantic storms are spectacular!
We heartily recommend Drom Caoin" for warm Irish hospitality in a comfortable home when you vist Western Ireland.
