Just after having a night away in Belmullet. Stayed in this guesthouse, David was so welcoming, the premises is basic guesthouse on a budget. My dietary needs were accommodated for & David was on hand to ensure we were satisfied with our meal. The waiting staff were so polite. There are renovations being done & a beautiful area for dining. Breakfast is served until noon & without doubt the selection & standard is the best we have had. I would highly recommend if you don't stay just even call for food, you will not be disappointed.

Visited Belmullet overnight with the family, booked Western Strand at short notice and got a room for three. It was great value at €100 for three and if i was to be picky they did not do breakfast and the mattress in the doble bed could do with changing. Staff were helpful and will be back to Belmullet

Went on a busy saturday afternoon, lovely atmosphere and service.
Chowder - one of the best iv had with lovely homemade bread. Other two friends had sandwiches and fries - very tasty and very big portions.
average 10euro a head with tea extra.
front bar looks like a lovely spot for a pint or two

Where do I begin....."if they paid me to stay I'd refuse"
This was the worst hotel room I've ever stay in.
The room looks and smells like the 1970s
There was a huge damp patch on the ceiling.
The shower didn't work and was very small and uncomfortable.
The shower tray had a lage crack on it, and silicone was used to seal the dangerous crack.
The curtains were disgusting and the views.
Our room was freezing and you wouldn't swing a cat in it.
This so-called hotel is a very poor reflection on what is a lovely location. Stay clear.

I went into this hotel for a quick lunch to be absolutely horrified by one member of staff that was left to serve the entire room. It was a tall dark haired lady that was clearly ran off her feet trying to clean up tables, give out menus, take bills and serve food. There was a bell consistently ringing from a kitchen to signal that food was ready she could have at least done with another two staff members. This made me feel very uncomfortable as I just wanted to get up at one stage and help her myself!!

I also overheard other people eating at the time say “it’s a disgrace that woman left to attend to so many people on her own, I’m sure 1 more staff wouldn’t cost them that much”

One other member of staff appeared from behind the bar as the lady appeared to ask her to serve somebody a drink. She came out from behind the bar clearly disgruntled and looked like she didn’t want to be there in the first place and still went to the wrong table with the drink. Upon seeing how busy it was she never made an appearance again after that.

It’s such a fabulous hotel, more than meets the eye from the outside. The food was brilliant however I will not be back.

We were in Belmullet last week and looking for a dog friendly restaurant as we were travelling with our four-legged friend.
I sent an email to check if they could accommodate that and I received an immediate answer, so we booked a table at their heated beer garden at the back of the restaurant and enjoyed a very good meal. Service was fantastic, and staff friendly and very helpful. We went back again after 2 days to spend another lovely evening enjoying a tasteful dinner in the company of our dog.
P.S. the cheesecake was delicious!

I stayed in the Western Strands for the first time & eventhough I had been to the place a few times for drinks & for a meal, I had never stayed in their accommodation. I was pleasantly surprised at the room & how modern & well appointed the entire place was. I just had a single ensuite room which was recently renovated & everything was pristine & the bed was so comfortable. This was particularly appreciated since I had just completed a five hour drive. I was greeted by a pleasant young receptionist who gave me a key to room 6. The room was modern, comfortable & well appointed. There was a little bit of noise from the downstairs bar but that finished as soon as I was ready to retire to my room. I managed to get parking nearby & the bar does food untill 9.00. I was very impressed with everything & I was greeted briefly by the very helpful proprietor, Dave, who made sure everything was satisfactory. I will look forward to staying again at the Western Strands.

Could not recommend this place enough. My 8 friends and I dined here last week, the food was top class and the extremely attentive, friendly service was second to none. Each one of us ordered a different dish, being a large group we expected a delay, but it was very fast and came out piping hot which is always a win for me. My friend could not praise the Turbot enough which apparently is a big seller on the menu. I had the porn star martini as a dessert as I couldn't fit anything else in, it was divine, very refreshing. If I could give this place 10/10 I would, the atmosphere, the food, the staff were just top notch. Social distancing and guidelines were all above board which was great to see. Thanks also to David the owner for providing us with some complimentary bubbly for the occasion, it was a lovely touch. We most definitely will be back!!!

I've stayed in many hotels in my time and I'm in no doubt the customer service in the Western Strands is the best I've ever come across.

Special mention to Sheila, her and her staff always made sure we were looked after and wanted for nothing.

The location is a pleasant stroll to anywhere in the town and food is to die for.

I'd refuse to stay anywhere else in the town.

Looking forward to seeing the staff again next year. 10/10
