We (3) stayed here in the Rose of the Sea, Belmullet for a week. Ann is a very amenable host, and she leaves you to yourself and has a hands off approach to your stay there.this can be a put off for done fussy people but once you know this before you go there it's fine. Room was nice and beds are super super comfortable. Room is not cleaned during your stay so bear that in mind. Only issue we had was that as a result if Covid19 the kitchen area is closed for guests.no fault of Ann's of course, but we were offered some snacks which is not ideal when your looking to eat something early and then be off on your day exploring beautiful Mayo. House is a pleasant (in summer) 20 mins walk into the quiet town of Belmullet. The views across the bay are stunning and Ann is a good host.
We thought we would have no problem finding this place in the dark as we had been sent detailed instructions and a phone number. The instructions fell at the first hurdle at the roundabout in Belmullet when we were told to take 'the road' out when there were 4 off the roundabout. We rang the number and were told this person was no longer working there and given another number which was not answered so I left a voicemail. After a lot of driving around I rang again and got Anne who talked us through getting there. Our room was lovely overlooking the bay and very spacious but was not cleaned or new towels offered after our first night there. Breakfast is a help-yourself affair but there is plenty to choose from. However, we felt the lack of anything cooked to set us up for the day and perhaps this is something you could consider to compete with other accommodation in a similar price range. Anne was very friendly and a mine of local information but we felt the service was lacking eg there were only 2 coffee sachets in our room and this was not replenished or even checked after our first night. It is the little things that make a place special.…
A beautiful guest house set in the wild and magical North West Irish countryside. Situation. Just set back off a b road with views across fields and the sea. Rooms. All rooms seem to be double or more. Our room had 2 double beds! All rooms are en suite with a shower. Furnishings are stylish and traditional. Tea and coffee facilities are available in the room. Small tv in the room. Eating. Make your own continental breakfast provided in well appointed kitchen. Toast jam cereals pastries etc.... Lounge. Comfy and homely lounge downstairs with a peat fire and large Netflix t.v.. Wi-Fi. Yes Sauna. Yes Surroundings. Semi rural, lots of walks and bike rides and scenery to die for. Plenty of bars and restaurants and take always. Oh... and Guinness. And the friendly Irish..... We were 2 couples and had a wonderful 4 days with lots of walks and beautiful weather. We were able to take a takeaway back to the b&b one evening and eat them in the kitchen (the chip shop in belmullet is excellent). Anne was a good host and taught us everything we needed to know aboutseaweed. Look forward to going again! We had an amazing 3 days. Lots of beautiful walks and a trip to Galway. Had a take away back at the b+b one night (the chippy in belmullet is excellent). Anne was an excellent host and can teach you all you need to know about sea weed! I will definitely go back.…
Room nice and airy, views excellent. Accommodation comfortable, clean. Some maintenance needed - front window didn't close properly, bathroom fittings (mirror) missing. Noise carried within the house. Bit far from Belmullet (approx 2.5km) to go in for a drink or a bite to eat. Apparently breakfast is not intended to be part of the deal, but they are 'experimenting' with provision of continental breakfast-type food. So more of an upmarket hostel where you can store food if you want, and there are some breakfast items if you want to take them (cereals, toast, coffee, select yogurts). It is really someones house, so you share one kitchen table with whoever else is staying at the time (only 6 chairs), you get / make your own breakfast, and out of respect for others doing the same you clean up after yourself. Not what most expect of a B&B, all a little bit uncomfortable. If in the area again I would spend the few extra euros and go to a proper B&B closer to Belmullet (if that is your target area).…
The two positive aspects of our stay in this B&B were a magnificient view over the bay and a nicely furnished room. Unfortunately the B&B was very difficult to find with the directions provided. It took us (and also another guest) about one hour and the help of local people to locate the house. Also we got no answer on the phone number provided for any problems. We found our keys, but during our whole stay there was no staff or proprietor on the premises, so it was very much a "let yourself in, let yourself out" affair. unfortunately also no working wifi.
