My husband and I stayed here during our time walking the Dingle Way. The B and B is on the outside of town- on the Dingle Way. The walk to town is about a mile but a very pleasant one along the bay.
Camila was a lovely hostess with lots of suggestions. She even allowed us to wash our clothes and hang them on her line. Definitely above and beyond. The view from our room overlooked a field of sheep, the Dingle Bay and the other side of the peninsula. It was truly remarkable. Our room was clean, our bed was comfortable, and we had plenty of space. The common spaces were also comfortable and welcoming.

We highly recommend Brownes B&B. We arrived late, without dinner reservations. No matter - our host Camilla sent us to the perfect, casual pub. "Ask for Mary", she said. And Mary took care of us. The next day, over a simple, breakfast of fresh fruits, cereals, yogurts, toast, scones, and French-press coffee, she offered a wealth of touring suggestions, complete with commentary. And she directed us to the best pubs for music. Best of all, we had a room with a view - see photo.

Stayed here for the 'Ride Dingle' event. Rooms are basic but clean & comfortable. Beautiful views from our room and the owner is bright, energetic & friendly. You can't really walk into Dingle but it's only a short car journey. Great location to head off to explore Slea head, the Conor Pass and only a short drive to view an amazing sunset overlooking 'An Fear Marbh'. Would definitely stay here again

There were 3 couples: my parents, myself and hubs, and my brother and his wife.

We were greeted in such a warm and welcome way by Camilla! We had rooms in the front - all en suite. Gorgeous views.

We had a little meet and greet with Camilla. Had some tea, and suggestions for things to do in the evening were made. We stayed for two nights, as part of our Dingle Slea Head Tour.

We had an easy cab ride to town, where we enjoyed the things Camilla suggested. We woke up to a beautifully set table with fresh fruit and cheeses and wonderful scones and muffins. The coffee and tea were plentiful!

The rooms were spotless. The bathrooms as well. The beds were very comfortable.

If we ever go back to Dingle, we will definitely be staying with Camilla!

Camilla was a wonderful host. She made us feel welcome, inviting us in for a get to know chat. Asking what we wanted to do in dingle and then proceeded to show us maps, brochures and give us local information. Great sitting room to enjoy a glass of wine. She had a good selection for breakfast and made sure you had what you needed. The bedrooms were comfy with a view of the bay. Lots of parking, and a patio to enjoy the view.

Absolutely brilliant place to stay. Spotlessly clean and we were so well cared for. Camilla could not have been more welcoming, knowledgeable or well connected. Super comfortable bed with beautiful views. Thank you Camilla, just perfect.

I can only add to what others have said. This B&B is a lovely place to stay, very clean and bright with an amazing sea view from our room (top front). But most of all, Camilla is an absolute gem! Full of local knowledge and tips and extremely generous in sharing it.

In short, Brownes is an example of an Irish B&B at its very best!

The gracious and warm home hospitaility by John and Camilla cannot be surpassed. Upon our arrival, John drove us into Dingle to orient us to the town, the restaurants, and offered suggestions for sites and activities. We did not have a car and Camilla arranged for local guides to take us to view the sites, secured concert tickets for us, made our dinner reservations, and spoiled us to no end. The home cooked breakfasts are more than enough to feed a large starving travelor and the variety offered makes one want to to stay multiple days just to try each breakfast offering. Don't pass up the porridge with Bailey's Irish Cream, the cheese plate with local artisan cheeses, and be sure to ask Camila and John to pack up what remains of the freshly baked brown breads and biscuits to take as a snack on your daily outings. The location is less than a mile from Dingle town and very walkable but as the roads are narrow with no sidewalk, I would not recommend walking in the eveninngs and catching a cab instead. This was our first visit to Dingle and the Brownes made our visit soooooo special.

Purportedly a bed and breakfast, we were attracted to book this place by previous comments that the owners were avid bikers, something we were both interested in doing on the Dingle Peninsula. It's true, the owners are biking enthusiasts and it is a bed and breakfast in the sense you are charged a modest fee for accommodation and a very good breakfast. That said, this is a place where you quickly feel that you have just rekindled an old friendship. I was interested in previous reviews constantly referred to the owners by their first names, John and Camilla. It did not take long before we did also. These are not just two people carving a living out for themselves in what is one of the most beautiful pieces of real estate in the world, but two very good people. We arrived late afternoon after a long drive from just south of Dublin. My wife had a pleasant chat with Camilla and we were shown our room with a view over the harbour and I mentioned I was looking forward to renting a bike and a ride around the Slea Head loop. “Let me call John,” she said, “I think he's going out with the boys tonight on their usual Wednesday after work ride and perhaps you can join them.” She really had no idea whether I was up to this, but she said I could use her bike – a generous offer and decent two wheeler though nothing like John’s serious Trek. I donned my gear and what followed with the lads, though mostly John for the last half, was one of the most glorious rides of my life. It was all of 46.5 k around the jaw dropping loop with commentary along the way of the sights and the people who inhabit this land. I was beat by the end but deeply appreciative and ready for the food and the recommended music that followed in town. It was in a word, wonderful. I won't mention that my wife and I helped the local lads playing with the Kerry Ireland Football team celebrate their recent All Ireland victory. I can only say they made us feel comfortable and allowed me to put my hand on the Sam Maguire. The food, accommodation, cycling, recommended music and restaurants and the short unsolicited rides into town made our stay one of a kind. You might have already guessed, we highly recommend Camilla and John’s establishment.

Brownes was truly our favorite place we stayed on our recent trip to Ireland. The location couldn't be any more convenient for both going into town or touring the peninsula. Our front bedroom had a beautiful view of the bay and was impeccably clean and comfortable. Breakfast each morning was generous and delicious. And last but certainly not least, Camilla and John were the best hosts, warm and welcoming, they provided us with great recommendations for what to see, where to hike, eat and go to hear music each night of our stay. Every day in Dingle had a lovely ending beside the fire with a warm cup of tea thanks to Camilla!

How far from the center of town is it? is there transportation? taxis?
Answer from gapeachy1
Colorado45 contributions16 helpful votes
It’s about a 20 minute walk from Brownes B&B into town. Sidewalks are available part of the way but not until after you get past the distillery. Not sure about taxis. We walked the first night and then took the car into town the second night. There’s a large car park that gets pretty empty in the evening.

Please contact the host/ hostess at Brownes to get the exact distance. I have been to Dingle frequently and as a guess, I would think a little less than 5 miles.
