Nestled in a picturesque setting on Dingle Bay, the Dingle Skellig Hotel & Peninsula Spa is lauded for its welcoming atmosphere, with a cozy pub that often features live music. Guests praise the friendly staff and the range of amenities, including the spa and dining options, though some mention space constraints in leisure facilities.
While the mix of dated and modern rooms draw mixed reviews, the overall cleanliness of the hotel is highly regarded. However, some guests feel that the pricing doesn't quite match the quality offered, particularly during peak seasons.

Detailed Reviews
Had a two night stay in this hotel last week. It was an amazing experience. The setting is just beautiful and the hotel lay out allows the guest to experience this natural beauty throughout the hotel. There are many lovely areas to sit and relax. The hotel is spotless and the decor is very attractive with lovely comfortable furniture, tasteful sculpture pieces and art work throughout. The bedroom was spacious and comfortable. There is a coffee machine and tv with a great choice of channels, lovely bathroom, lovely bed linen, robes and towels. It is well worth paying extra for a sea view, the view is stunning. I cannot praise staff enough. Every staff member is so well trained, they are friendly and helpful and put the guests needs first. The spa and pool area is amazing and is so relaxing and luxurious. The hotel was very busy during our stay with lots of families but I still felt we had every opportunity to unwind and relax. The food although a little expensive is fresh, very well prepared and presented and most importantly very tasty. Management were on hand throughout our stay keeping a watchful eye over proceedings and had the time to say hello and Rosari in particular helped us when there was an issue with our booking when checking in and looked after us for the rest of our stay. Well will be back!

A wonderful family holiday was had at the Skellig. The rooms in the new wing were fabulous, the food was delicious, the service was second to none, a shout out to Elton & Aisling in the bar/restaurant and to Sheila and Breda on the front desk, both so professional, friendly and accommodating. A lovely touch was the manager on duty doing the rounds of the breakfast tables and making us feel so welcome. The rooms aren’t serviced every day due to the current covid situation but on request they will drop fresh towels and service the room. The hotel felt clean and safe regarding covid regulations. It was such a wonderful stay we extended our trip and we are looking forward to our next!

We were checked in by a welcoming and helpful gentleman, Miro who went through the procedures now in place for the ‘new normal‘
Caron, at Reception was also most helpful with our enquires during our stay..
Room 320 was spotless and enjoyed a lovely view of the water.
Breakfast and dinner were excellent, served by an amazing attentive Staff, overseen by an equally attentive General Manager , Graham.
Great location within walking distance of Dingle, a really cute Irish Village.

First the good! Location is great, reception and most staff very helpful, friendly and efficient. Breakfast and main meals excellent.
The Bad... poor service in bistro, waiting 30 + minutes for a drinks order to be taken, I admit they were busy but not so busy that one waiter stayed talking to one group of local customers for about 25 minutes. Starters in the bistro (scallops) & main restaurant ( salmon) are probably the smallest I've seen anywhere in the world. Hotel is not 4 star, rooms are dated, carpets are worn, no air con. and although they boast about cleaning the rooms for Covid-19 we found a hair clip beside the sink ( not small), mould on the bath surround and either the door in the bathroom needs a good scrub or painting. Woken on the 2nd morning by a guy cleaning gutters outside our room at around 9 am and on the 3rd morning by house keeping at about 9.15 am even though the "Do not Disturb" sign was hanging on the door...not a very relaxing stay.
The hotel is in need of some renovation, painting ,new carpets etc.
Over priced for what it was, if the hotel trade and government are trying to encourage "Stay-cation" value for money needs to be encouraged and not greedy price gouging.

Your review is not one which we like to ever receive. We have noted this and I am sorry if you feel your stay was disappointing. This hotel is mediocre at best, most definitely not 4 star quality. The staff are great, in particular the restaurant host Gavin and two wonderful bar staff. The rooms in the OLD area are exactly that OLD. Avoid this area at all costs, the hallways creak and smell then into the rooms, they are just dated with not great quality pillows and duvets to add insult to injury. Bathrooms are also dated. There was zero social distancing and even a buffet (again no distancing) along with table service at breakfast but couldnt eat as my poached eggs where sitting in vinegar and water!! Its not particularly cheap to stay here so i would look for a little boutique B&B, unless you have kids who want to just run around the hotel as they have kids club.
Not recommended for couples at all.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your comments in regard to our staff and Gavin who is a valued member of our team. I am very sorry to read your review on the other aspects of your stay as this would not be a review which we would expect to receive. We have a selection of room types here at the hotel and as a 50 year old hotel, unfortunately there are rooms which are older than others. I have spoken with our accommodation manager to look at your points above. In regard to social distancing, we take our responsibilities very seriously. We have completed our Safety Charter with Failte Ireland and have extensive systems in place within the hotel which we ask every guest to comply with. We have signage, increased staff, pre arrival emails and reminders on TV screens within the hotel to ensure that guests are aware of the requirement to socially distance. All of our dining including breakfast, is by reservation and limited to a specific number of guests at a time. We have removed our extensive buffet and have a reduced cold buffet which is all in single serve portions and adhering to all guidelines. I am sorry that you did not feel that your stay was enjoyable and would have liked the opportunity to correct this while you were here – in particular in regard your breakfast. Kind regards, Miriam

We had our Dingle wedding over the "Super St Patricks Bank Holiday" in the wonderful Dingle Skellig Hotel. We can honestly say that the Dingle Skellig, the staff, the venue, the food, the care and attention given to us and our guests was second to none.
From the moment we began planning our wedding Danny and the team were incredibly helpful. The venue itself, nestled alongside Dingle Bay, has fantastic photo opportunities. For March, we were very fortunate with the weather, with all our guests able to enjoy the front of the hotel overlooking the sea. Worked a charm for family photos and drinks in the sunshine.
During the drinks reception, all of our guests were complimenting the prawns, Cheese Boards & ham rolls along with the bubbly and delicious Dingle G&T's. The function room was beautifully laid out and the way the tables were arranged meant that all guests felt included in the wedding. All guests complimented the food, all courses were delicious. They also catered for our vegetarians and coeliacs. The fish (turbot) was a knock out -incredible going to provide this for the almost 200 guests.
The turnover from meal to the stage for the band was seamless with no disruption and there was plenty of room on the dance floor as well as plenty of tables to sit at. We arranged fireworks externally from the hotel and they did everything they could to keep it a secret and slot it into our special day. Throughout the weekend all staff were extremely helpful, friendly and courteous and we were so impressed by all of them. The staff were also very obliging with our day 2 requirements and looked after anything we needed on the day.
Overall anyone thinking of the Dingle Skellig for a wedding, it is quite honestly the best wedding venue for quality service, value for money, and a real personal interest in your wedding. We cannot recommend them highly enough. A very special mention to Danny, Shelia, Rosarii, Greg, Karen, Conor and all the Dingle Skellig team for everything you did for us, we are already planning to come and see you again. Love Jack & Karen

I stayed in the Skellig back in June with two friends and we were all very impressed by the overall service, welcome and facilities on offer. The hotel itself is very centrally located and within easy walking distance to Dingle itself. Whilst there were a couple of minor issues in the room (the sockets stopped working at one stage, none available on the same wall as the beds and we only had towels/robes for two people instead of three) everything was quickly and effectively addressed by the exceptionally friendly and helpful staff and it was overall very comfortable and pleasant. The staff are the real gem of this hotel. You can see that they are well trained, with the emphasis clearly on making sure guests are having a nice stay. It was lovely to see managers going around checking in on guests during mealtimes, especially taking care of those dining alone. The team in the Spa were also exceptionally nice and accommodating and really made our visit special.
As big foodies we were very happy with the quality, variety and value for money of the three course meal on offer in the Coastguard restaurant. We tried a variety of items between us and there was not one element that disappointed. The breakfast is also once of the best I've experienced during Covid times. A great range of individually packaged items, alongside a cooked breakfast which is refreshingly refined in terms of portion size (less waste and more room for the pastries!). The views from the restaurant make a lovely setting for both breakfast and dinner.
The Spa facilities, pool and views really elevate the hotel overall and make it a very special stay. It's worth booking in for a Spa treatment just to spend some time on the terrace overlooking the bay and in the outdoor hot tub! The common areas are also beautifully decorated with a range of different spaces, ideal for groups to congregate (post Covid). If I was being very critical I would say I would look forward to seeing the bedrooms continue to be updated in line with this overall modernisation of the hotel (although they were very comfortable and perfect for our needs), perhaps including some more easily accessible sockets for charging phones at night and a more efficient shower.
I would really recommend this hotel to anyone and can't wait to come back for a stay in future! Comparable to other hotels in this price bracket it is fantastic value for money.

Just back from a three night stay in the Dingle Skellig Hotel and had the best experience in a hotel in Ireland ever. My husband booked a sea view room to celebrate a special occasion, from the moment we arrived at the door we were greeted by the friendliest staff which continued for our entire stay, impossible to single any one individual out from reception to bar to restaurant to the cleaning staff nothing was to much bother. The food was superb ate two nights in the restaurant and one evening in the bar, breakfast was cooked fresh to order and we were constantly asked would we like more coffee toast etc.,and the coffee tasted like coffee unlike most hotels we have been to! Well done to all in these trying times we will definitely be back.

Just back from a 3 night staycation and we had a blast. Felt so safe there - all staff wearing masks, lots of sanitizing stations throughout the hotel. Breakfast is always fantastic here and I wondered how covid19 would impact this but I needn't have worried-all breads, cheeses, chopped fruit and cereals were individually packaged/wrapped making it super safe. We were upgraded to one of the gorgeous new rooms which was SUCH a treat and the view!!As always the staff made the hotel what it is - super friendly and attentive and couldn't do enough for us. I can't say enough good things about the hotel...it's unlike anywhere else I've ever stayed for the lovely feeling of homeliness even in these weird covid times.cant wait until our next trip already!!special shoutout to nollaig who was so lovely to our toddler at mealtimes xx

Hello there,
Galway is about a 3 hour drive from Dingle.
Hi Ailin,
Yes indeed we have 4 charge points here at the hotel.
When your come out of hotel and walk to your left, there is al lovely walk along the coast and you will come across an area of beach suitable for swimming (maybe 10min walk) if you walk a little further and sit on the cliff (beside a small castle like ruin) you can watch the boats and maybe spot fungi too , it’s really beautiful💛
