We were a trio and booked a triple room, it was airy and spotlessly clean, with extremely comfortable and well-spaced beds.
The location is ideal, just a minutes walk from all the bars, restaurants and bustle but the location means that you will get a peaceful nights sleep and avail of on-site parking.
Breakfast was fresh and tasty, the bar and dining areas are recently modernised and everything felt fresh, spotless and very safe in terms of Covid-compliance.
Best of all was the friendly and traditional hospitality from Paddy and her family / team. This was such a treat after so long away from hospitality. Nothing was too much trouble, they generously assisted us with an additional parking request and answered some questions we had about travel to Great Blasket Island. I have already booked again for August and am looking forward to returning.
The second issue I have is that the breakfast was advertised as a full Irish breakfast including mushrooms…. Instead I got a single small withered mushroom split into 4 slices. It was hardly worth putting it on the plate.
On checkout the man at the desk also treated me with a cold shoulder not even saying thank you for our custom as if the other female staff member had been gossiping about us with the other staff telling a fairytale that she had concocted in her own head. I wouldn’t have thought anything of the way the man treated me only for the invasive nature of the first woman and the fact two other female staff members came over to look at us during breakfast time as If we were some sort of side show. Like I said it was a clean place in a good location but some staff may need education on manors and privacy.
The breakfast buffet was excellent with a wide range of options and gracious service. The WiFi worked well. There is a convenient car park behind the property. There is no AC, but none was needed during our September stay.
I can't blame the owners for the guests next door who made a very noisy midnight arrival, but their subsequent conversations established that the walls of this old building are thin and do not block sound.
Despite the solid location, great breakfast and great service, the small, inconveniently arranged room prevents me from giving this property an excellent rating.
Location was excellent, the staff were very friendly and efficient and the rooms were spotless. The management made sure all safety guidelines were being adhered to so we felt very safe. Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning!
