A great little place to stay with wonderfully friendly hostess Mary. Large, clean, comfortable rooms and a fantastic breakfast. Right on the corner of the Main street in lovely Kenmare, our favorite village on our trip. Mary could not have been more helpful and is quick with a joke and a smile. The Hawthorne House is exactly what a B&B should be like thanks to Mary's efforts. She is so outgoing and helpful, and makes you feel like you are her most important guest ever. Her breakfast in the morning really helps you start off you day right. We stayed in the building across from the main house. The room was large...

Quiet, spacious, clean room with a great breakfast. Mary was very knowledgable and her welcoming style was a delight. Parked the car and was able to walk everywhere and enjoy the ambience. Centrally located and one of the few B & B's that would take a credit card.

We stayed last year a week in one of the Hawthorn Lodge self-catering houses. The house is very well equipped, has a lot of space and the biggest advantage, it is very quiet although it is located directly in the centre of Kenmare. Mary gave us a very warm welcome and ensured that we had a pleasent stay. We will...

Mary's hospitality and generosity brings us back to Kenmare and Hawthorn House year after year. The rooms are immaculate and the breakfast sets you up for the day. Quite simply, the best B&B in Kerry.

We arrirved late and Mary could not have been more helpful. She helped get us loaded into our rooms, and gave us really good advice on where best to go for...

Day 2 into our Kerry Way Hike last week we were happy to have stumbled across this wonderful B&B. We and our Muddy Boots were welcomed and provided with a very comfortable room. Paper was offered for our wet boots and the warmth of the room helped to dry what clothes we had exposed to the Kerry elements. The Breakfast...

My wife and I stayed with Mary for three nights and had a wonderful time. She was very charming and helpful and the food and room were wonderful. Her recommendations for what to see were very helpful and it was nice to just hang out and talk to her about Ireland and her life there. Don't miss this one!

My wife and I stayed at Hawthorn House for two nights in October, 2012 while traveling in south western Ireland. There couldn't be a warmer welcome anywhere than we received from Mary O'Brien.
