We drove the King Of Kerry on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 and chose this place to rest for the night. The location is great, but on a somewhat busy street. It is just one block from the downtown businesses which made it convenient. Upon arriving, I knew that free parking was included. The problem was that I pulled into the driveway on the wrong side of the place, and it is not so easy to back out of the super narrow driveway with the traffic on the busy road in front. I then pulled into the correct driveway which has parking in back for only about 6 or 7 vehicles. The other problem is that it seems most people do not know how to park and a couple of cars were straddling two parking spaces each. I did manage to back into (with my wife's help from outside the car) a spot on the far left. It was a tight squeeze. Our host, Mary O'Brien was a cut up with her friendly but odd sense of humor. She lives on the main floor in the back of the building. She thought my accent was from Newfoundland (we live in Minnesota, USA). We had a nice large room, the Neidin Room. The name "Neidin" is the old Gaelic name for Kenmare, derived from "Nead Ein" (Ein's nest or lair). Ein was a fearsome giant who roamed the area, tormenting the natives, feasting on their livestock and stealing their crops. This hotel does not serve breakfast (even though they do have a breakfast room). Getting breakfast in Kenmare on a Wednesday was a chore because almost every restaurant is closed on Wednesday mornings. Sleep quality was not that great because the room was quite stuffy with no ventilation, so we had to leave the windows open all night. Traffic outside was very noisy late at night and also at 5 AM and on. Interesting way to pay here. Mary O'Brien told us, "leave 90 Euro cash on the table in the room when you leave". A quaint place to stay.

We loved our stay at the Hawthorn house! Mary gave us the best dinner recommendation which was our favorite dinner of our entire trip! Not to mention she has the cutest dog named Max that hangs out around back :). Room was very clean and right by all the live and action! Great location. We would recommend to any of our family and friends! Hope to be back!

We booked this hotel in July of 2022 for our May 2023 visit through their reservation portal. I received a confirmation email with a conformation number. In April I sent out emails to confirm our hotel stays in Ireland. This owner returned my email to say she rejected my reservation without any notification to us. I then find out she is housing refuges, and chose to cancel our reservation with no word to us. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! Not a good business to do this to tourist!!!

We stayed in the cottage at Hawthorn House and loved all of the amenities and flexibility it provided. The extra space to spread out was great for our family, and is a good choice if you're looking to be able to have flexibility to stay in during your trip. We especially appreciated the laundry facilities and the location. We were able to take a quick walk (literally less that 5 min) into Kenmare to enjoy meals, shopping, and coffee. Mary was a kind and thoughtful host.

Stay in or walk out to the town. Amazing location to see Kenmare and the surrounding area. Breakfast is excellent and if you like your whiskey or whisky, John will have something for you to try. Didnt get a chance to eat in the restaurant in the evening, we ended up enjoying Kenmare's restaurants.

A stay at the Park is a truly exceptional experience. The grounds provide a romantic and relaxing atmosphere. The accommodations and service are second to none. And the SAAMAS spa is not to be missed. We now plan regular trips to visit again.

The room was basic, but the mattress was horrible! It was hard and lumpy and springs could be felt. Site stated they only accept cash, but it seems they will accept credit cards. No sight of owners, cleaning staff checked is in. She was very pleasant but not very professional.
