It was a return visit to kenmare and we stayed with Mary. We had a great welcome and settled in very quickly. The holiday home we rented had just about everything. Lovely comfortable beds, and every other comfort was catered for during our stay. It's an ideal location for walks, cycling, and the wild water swimming. The restaurants and gastropubs that were open were all within walking distance. Mary is a first class host and our accomodation was ideal. The staycation experience is going to be repeated in 2021. We just hope there will be a vacancy for us.

We absolutely loved our stay at PHK. We were on our honeymoon and celebrating my 40th birthday and were treated so special in every way from a small bottle of champagne in our room upon check in to a special dessert during our dinner. Every staff member was friendly and went out of their way to be accommodating. Their spa is also amazing and would highly recommend a visit!

Charming B&B in a great location with a spacious room and a wonderful breakfast. The staff was very friendly - the best part was Mary's amazing hospitality! We had plans to drive all over Ireland and we were on a very tight schedule. On our way to Kenmare from Killarney, we blew out a tire and ended up with the tiny spare tire. We arrived at the Hawthorne House past 6 pm and called the 24 hour helpline for the car rental, but they were not helpful at all. They could not help me with getting a replacement vehicle or the tire fixed. Fortunately for us, when Mary learned about this the following morning, she told us not to worry and enjoy our breakfast. She took charge and called the car rental office in Killarney (the closest to Kenmare) and explained what happened to us and how their 24 hour helpline was not helpful. She emphasized that we were on a tight schedule and needed to get back on the road. She told the agent that there is a local tire shop that could replace the tire and that this would spare us the trip of having to go back towards Killarney and get the tire fixed there or get the car replaced. The Kenmare Tire Shop was not listed as one of their participating shops but, with Mary's insistence, he allowed us to get it done locally and refund the cost when we returned the car at the end of our trip. Mary knew the owner of the tire shop, she gave him a call and he immediately took me in and got the tire changed within 15 minutes. With Mary's help, we were able to enjoy her wonderful breakfast and stick to our schedule and make it to the rest of our trip. When we returned the car at the Dublin Airport at the end of our trip, the agent was surprised to see the bill for the tire replacement. He said Tire Shops usually overcharge when they fix rental cars and the price they gave me was very reasonable. He could not believe it. So to Mary and Ian (Owner of Kenmare Tyre Center) - a huge thank you!!
