From the moment we arrived until two days later when we hated to leave, we enjoyed our time with Julia (I'm ready to get back right now) . The home in itself is a "showplace" but, above all else..It's Julia that tops the cake here. Her genuine friendliness, knowledge and laughter make you want to stay longer I know we did..Perfect spot for a day on the Beara Ring and then setting off for Kerry..also the closeness to Kenmare make it superb location..Breakfast is awesome too. Thanks Julia, we totally enjoyed An Bruachan.! xoxo
A lovely home by a bubbling brook, beautifully decorated, with comfy beds and a lovely breakfast! A home away from home! An will even “mother you” by giving advice or scolding you if you’re late. All part of the Irish experience! I enjoyed every minute :)
Old fashioned greeting with all the pleasantries that one would expect . A very helpful and fun lady . The premises were very clean and the breakfast was plentiful. A very nice just out of town . Even a lift into town for our evening meal . Thank you to a lovely lady.
Host Julia was welcoming, warm and full of fabulous suggestions to add to my itinerary. Her library is amazing and she is generous in allowing guests to borrow books. I stayed in the Twin Room (solo traveler) for 7 nights and it was comfortable, spotless, tided up daily and had a beautiful view of the brook behind the house (and a calming soundtrack at night). My entire stay was peaceful and absolutely wonderful. The other guests were courteous, respectful and friendly. Breakfast daily was delicious and varied. It's a short walk into town on a paved sidewalk and Kenmare makes an amazing base to visit many wonderful things in County Kerry. Would highly recommend and will book another stay when I return to Ireland again. :)
What a fab hideaway, on the banks of the river. The host Julia could not have been nicer. The room was perfect for two friends travelling together. Breakfast was great, with a choice of dishes to suit all. Within walking distance of the town. Where there's a choice of bars with outside dining. Julia recommended some places which were spot on. Lovely lady, lovely place. Highly recommended this as a base. Thanks so much for everything.
We had a very negative experience staying at An Bruachan. I was travelling there from Dublin, along with 2 friends coming from different parts of the country. I was delayed in work on Friday and then caught in bad traffic exiting the city as a result. We had previously contacted the host out of courtesy with an ETA of approx. 9pm. The host never responded to this message. On our way down we were further delayed due to driving conditions after storm Ellen. I rang the host at around 8.30pm to explain that had been delayed and would only be able to arrive by 11pm. The host was extremely aggressive and derogatory on the phone. I asked the B&B owner could she leave a key outside (considering she was so furious that we were going to be there at 11) and she said not a chance. My friends and I were completely shocked by how we were spoken to as a result of this delay and stressed for the rest of the car journey as a result. The host again was extremely rude to us upon our arrival, commenting on how driving to Kerry at night “wasn’t a sensible thing to do”, speaking over us and questioning us in an incredibly aggressive manner. The next day someone else served our breakfast and all was fine until when we were leaving and she then decided to give us another talk because ‘we are young girls and obviously don’t understand that this is not a hotel’. We love to hike and regularly stay in B&Bs and would never intentionally disrespect hard working people in the hospitality industry. Similarly we have never come across a host like this in all of the wonderful places that we have stayed. We are surprised that the reviews are so positive and disappointed we weren’t treated in the same regard as other guests obviously have been. I don’t usually write negative reviews and am keen to support irish businesses (particularly at this time) but our experience at an Bruachán was horrendous and being fair to ourselves I want to comment on it. To point out the positives of the place, it was clean and we were happy with the breakfast. We left immediately after it, however, as the atmosphere was very uncomfortable.…
We spend 3 nights in this gorgeous b&b with its fabulous gardens, delicious breakfast and amazing host. Julia is so warm and friendly and gave great recommendations of places to eat and visit. Her morning breakfast was so varied and delicious. The room was clean and comfortable and keeping to all covid recommendations. The shower is out room was amazing also!!! So close to the town, only 3 minute drive which makes it an ideal location! Would definitely stay again and definitely recommend.
We had such a lovely stay at Julia's place. Beauty everywhere! Beautiful rooms, gardens, creek and energy. We are so pleased we stumbled on this B & B. Julia was a caring, bright, welcoming and warm hostess!
My family, three people, spent two nights at the cootage. Julia is an excellent host and prepared delicious breakfast. The rooms are very clean and cosy. The bathroom is modern. The cottage is surrounded by a magnificient garden. We were allowed to use the living room with a comfortable fire-place, which was very pleasant end of October. I recommend the accommodation.
We stumbled upon this B&B and really Enjoyed the stay. They are very close to downtown, located on a beautiful babbling brook. The room was very clean and spacious. Breakfast was delicious and the hosts were wonderful. We would definitely stay here again.
