Detailed Reviews
We stayed in Foley’s self catering cottages with our college age children, who were at stuck at home due to Covid. I couldn’t recommend this option enough for families. The house was spacious and comfortable for a family of 5 adults. It was impeccably clean when we arrived, with hand sanitizer by the door. The sun shines on the back patio all day (when it shines). Kenmare is a beautiful town and is a short 15 minute walk away. We also ate in Foley’s on our last night. We booked by emailing Pat (the owner) who was very prompt at responding to all our email queries. We had a great night, the food and atmosphere were great, despite the Covid restrictions. Kerry is so beautiful, I don’t think we’ll leave the country on holiday again! I would recommend Foley’s to anyone thinking of holidaying in that area, they are so helpful and It was great value for money.

We are a family of 6 and stayed in the 3 bed self catering house a 10 min walk from Kenmare centre. House very clean and spacious for older families with seating outside and a large green to the front if children want to play.
The house is an ideal base for exploring Kerry. 3 bedrooms all a great size and also a utility room with washing machine and separate dryer so you don't go home with too much laundry. We had one or two questions and they were answered immediately. Would recommend here no problem. Thanks Pat and Marion.

Had a wonderful stay here for three nights on Thursday last. We were the first guests after the COVID 19 reopening. Situated on Henry street right in the middle of Kenmare this is a brilliant base to explore Kerry and the Beara peninsula from. I hadn’t been to this part of Ireland for a long time and it was brilliant to be back. It is breathtakingly beautiful.
The rooms in Foloeys are large, spotless and really comfortable. Shower is great and powerful. Bed large and had excellent sleeps on it.
The owners Patrick and Marion are the perfect hosts and make you feel part of their family. Wonderful people and they could not be nicer or more helpful.
The food is excellent and the menu is extensive with the steak a highlight for me. I went in the mornings for the full Irish breakfast and it was too notch.
Potions are very generous and the food is very reasonably priced.
The bar has an extensive range of beers and spirits with the Murphy’s stout truly exceptional.
The place is completely set up to be COVID rules compliant and I felt very safe indeed.
Kenmare is a beautiful town and a great place to explore the region. Ask directions from Marion or Patrick to the privately owned waterfall and surrounding park nearby which is a must see local attraction. As good scenery as you’d see anywhere. The ring of Beara is stunning and make sure you start on the Cork side via Glengarrif.
In normal times Kenmare is hopping in the summer with live music a plenty every night. This was clearly not the case when were there but I must say I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to recommend Foley’s as your Kenmare base.

They ignored us, yelled at us and we did not have any hot water in the showers
My friends and I stay there for 2 nights including breakfast.
1) there was no hot water in the showers, we came back tired and exhausted from traveling around the area and in those 2 nights we did not have any hot water in the showers
2) night before we left we asked them to cancel our breakfast and they said it's fine and asked us to email them in order to get a refund.
When we did check out, the guy at the reception refused to return our money, he was upset with us, did not agree to listen to us and also called to a backup, another guy, that yelled at us, saying that they do not refund and we need to stay and have the breakfast
I should mention that we tried to reach them several times via their email address and they ignored us. they did not respond to us.
It's a shame they treated us with no respect and ignored us many times.

+1
Stayed for 3 nights, staff very welcoming and friendly atmosphere throughout. Room was comfortable and clean, with everything I needed …. including a good hairdrier near a plug socket and a mirror!! Desk fan provided to help with hot weather.
Breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious, with a good choice of cooked food.
The reason for dropping from a rating of 5 to 4 is due to the noise. This could not be helped and is due to the central location. A great location for seeing everything but very loud singing from the pub opposite meant no sleep til late. It wasn’t tradition Irish … more like country singing & guitar.
Having said that, I’d happily stay again … but with good ear plugs!

Just had a truly remarkable meal in Foleys Kenmare. Great food, fantastic service delivered by Sarah. The Brie with cranberries and the half duck main were both extremely well prepared and presented. Highly recommended a visit.

We hadn’t anywhere booked to stay in Kenmare when we arrived for a night last week. We went to Foleys to see if they had rooms available and we were greeted with a very friendly staff member. There was a B&B room available and it was very reasonably priced. The room was modern, clean, cosy and had everything we required. We had dinner in the restaurant which is very spacious & comfortable. There is a good selection on the menu to choose from. My boyfriend had a pasta dish and I had the chicken curry both were very tasty. The staff were very friendly and the service was fantastic. There was music that evening in the bar area which was very enjoyable and brought a great atmosphere. There was a great selection for breakfast. Ours was lovely, we both had porridge & honey, poached eggs, bacon with hollandause sauce. I would highly recommend. We will definitely return here.

We rented one of the townhouses this past weekend and we were met by an extremely irrate Marian Foley who barged through the door shouting and asking what was going on, only to enter the kitchen to find 6 adults sitting around the kitchen table playing a game of cards. Clearly she had received a call that night about a noise complaint in one of the many townhouses that she owns, in the same estate, however barging into a rented out house at 1am in the morning without any warning or invite and shouting irrately is beyond unacceptable in any shape or form and not once did Marian Foley apologise for the misunderstanding, she just threw us a shoulder shrug and asked us had people left in the missing cars out the front or something, again jumping to conclusions - Not that it was any of her business but our cars were driven into town and left in there as we had a couple of glasses of wine with dinner.
To make matters worse, I had been dealing with Pat for the booking so we never even met or spoke to this Marian before, so for all we were aware a stranger barged into the house uninvited, which is totally unacceptable. And to top it all off, I sent a complaint on Sunday morning upon check out about the incident, hoping to receive a formal apology, but I didnt. I sent a follow up email yesterday to outline my disappointment that they have not even taken the time to acknowledge the incident and still no word, which is beyond disgraceful customer service.
You rent a house during these trying times so that you feel as safe as possible and then a stranger barges in accusing you of been out of line and making loads of noise, only for them to discover a quiet card game around the kitchen table with 6 adults, it is not only completely out of line, but extremely disrespectful for Marian to not initially apologise for making assumptions and for the business as a whole to not acknowledge the incident and formally apologise. Disgraceful behaviour out of Management. Would not recommend to stay there, its not worth the intrusion or disrespect.

Kenmare is a small town, and Foleys is on the main street. A great Irish family welcome and we were made to feel right at home. Our room was a double and single, and had room to move around. Towels were changed daily. There’s not so many places to eat out, so Foleys is popular; the food is great, there’s live music and lots of drinks to choose from being a pub! If you choose to include breakfast in your room rate, its made fresh from the actual restaurant menu (none of this buffet left standing stuff you get at chain hotels!). Food quality is excellent and reasonably priced for dinner. Overall recommended, particularly as is a super gateway to the Ring of Kerry, going clockwise and avoiding all the tour coaches and crowds from Killarney. If you are looking for negatives, some people comment on the lack of dedicated parking.. you can park overnight in the street outside but must move first thing. That said there are two free car parks within 5 minutes walk and were available every night. Parking was not an issue! If you are looking for peace and quiet, downtown hotels/bars may not be for you. If you want to enjoy the Irish pub welcome and atmosphere, Foleys is great. Live music normally ends around 11pm. We loved the music.. some may not. But it’s Ireland - enjoy the spirit!

Recently a large group went to Foleys to kickstart a weekend of celebrating a significant birthday of our mum/grandmother. What a fabulous choice of venue Foleys in Kenmare proved to be.
From the moment we went in we were treated so fabulously by Marion, the proprietor. She had supplied and decorated the place for the birthday with balloon displays, banners etc. A surprise birthday cake was also brought out to mam.
The food was excellent. The choice on the menu was very varied. Everyone enjoyed dishes such as lamb stew, Clonakilty chicken, varied salads and omelettes, but it was the steak that was the real winner on the night - the best any of us had in years!
The waitresses and bar staff, headed up by Nora, couldn't have been nicer and so accommodating to us all. We were moving about greeting our family as they arrived from all parts of Ireland, but the staff handled the chopping and changing with smiles on their faces.
The bill was a pleasant surprise - getting value for money was a real bonus.
We stayed on in Foleys for the rest of the night, enjoying the brilliant musician, who played something for everyone - Irish, classics and modern. I even saw some members of my family dance, a sight not seen in years!
If you are a couple, family, or larger group looking for a good venue in Kenmare, you cannot go wrong in Foleys. Anything you want will be catered for and much more beyond.
Thank you Marion and team. It was a night to remember.
