Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I was impressed with the way this accommodation has adapted to get reopening because of ongoing Covid restrictions. Vanessa & staff very welcoming, helpful and hard working!!!!
Would definitely like to come back and stay again ... but I’m guessing it’s a popular guest house and understand why they would be frequently booked out ...

Very nice atmosphere with both Jer & Vanessa working hands on round the clock making sure everything was dealt with from service, cooking & cleaning - they did the lot. They run a tight ship but manage it very well & it was much appreciated, although the food & beverages were a little bit more costly than I was expecting but probably inline with others in the area. I would definitely recommend the place to others as the rooms were very good - spacious, good facilities & extremely clean. Top marks!

My third visit to this friendly B&B. Wonderful staff, clean rooms, great food in the restaurant and the breakfast room. Fun bar with live music.

The rooms are far enough from the bar that you don't hear the noise. Our meals were well prepared and served quickly. We had the fish and chips and the seafood pie. The restauarnt / bar was full and very busy, but the staff was very friendly and courteous. Breakfast in the breakfast room was truly enjoyable with a very friendly staff and great hot food.

A truly enjoyable stop on our trip to Ireland.

Would never eat here again, ate an overpriced mediocre meal here and had barely finished main course and was waiting on desert when we were asked twice to move to the beer garden that was a converted car park, we refused because we were still eating and we were only there 45 mins at this stage. While eating desert the owner came over and asked to finish up our meal in the hallway because he had let in too many customers and was trying to ram in as many covers as he could. Made no apologies for his treatment of us. Instead of refusing people entry he kept letting them in. Disgraceful behavior!

Very central, perfect location
Basic, room could do with renovating e.g. painting. Bed linen didn't smell very fresh.

Dinner in the pub/restaurant was very nice, and staff were very pleasant to guests. Food service was very quick.

Breakfast was also lovely, and very efficient.

poorly lit entrance and stairs, public have access to the accommodation area because nobody on Reception area at top of poorly lit stairs. No tea/coffee making facilities in room despite being advertised. no satellite channels as advertised. Shower very poor and couldnt adjust as only 1 setting. Rooms very noisy because kitchen Air Extraction fan was right outside our window and i'm sure we were not the only room affected by this. Evening meal was poor - everything we got came from the Freezer which was disappointing......when raised, staff tried to convince us that the Homemade Fish was indeed Homemade - my wife is a Chef so she knows the difference between homemade and something from a packet.
On the plus side, room was clean and Breakfast was satisfactory but could do with more than just one member of staff serving breakfast.

We visited Kenmare today, 30th June. We are very familiar with the town and have dined in this establishment before.

While very surprised there was no kids menu (this was lunchtime) we ordered and were satisfied with the food. We requested diluted orange for the table and was told that jugs were not available, rather glasses of the diluted drink. We received 6 small glasses.

After leaving a €5 tip we paid the bill. We were astonished to see a charge of €5.10 for the diluted orange. We were astonished. To us, this was so mean, so cheap and so unnecessary.

We realise this business (like all others) has lost a lot of revenue in the recent months but we felt this was rip off Republic at its finest. €5.10 for small glasses of diluted orange - very bad form and so disappointing.

Stopped here as a party of 8 for mid afternoon (3pm) drinks. Firstly we were made feel very un welcome and the bar staff who greeted us hummed and hawed about whether we could stay if we weren’t having food (even though there were only one or two tables occupied in the beer garden when we arrived). When they finally agreed we could have a table and a drink, we were then repeatedly asked if we wanted to order food and when the kids moved to a neighbouring table to play a game of cards - with still only 2 or 3 tables occupied and plenty of free tables- the staff asked the kids to move back to our table. Overall we really felt our custom wasn’t appreciated because we wanted drinks only. Pity as we would have had several drinks and probably come back numerous times during our stay and likely would have had food if we hadn’t been made to feel so unwelcome. Never again!

This is a great place to stay whilst in this lovely Kerry town. O'Donnabhain's is right at the heart of the town and offers a bar and restaurant as well as the accommodation. The rooms in this place are huge and most have more than one bed - ours had a double and two singles and there was still plenty of space. The rooms are also very quiet, with no noise from the busy bar downstairs.

Whilst this was not an issue for us, there is no lift in this property so access to the rooms requires climbing two flights of stairs.

We were here on the Sunday of the august bank holiday. We went for food and drinks. Our server, a young man was very busy and bothered as he was explaining the menu and taking our order, he told us he had had a very stressful day. I don't know why he felt the need to tell us that, we were hardly demanding by asking him about the wine list. I ordered pizza, and my husband ordered chicken wing starter and the fish and chips. All the food came out together, my husband asked why did the wings not come out first, the server said sorry "I should've told you my bad". I'm really not sure what he meant, I said he should take back the mains but my husband couldn't be bothered with the hassle, after all the server had already told us he was having a stressful day. The server was actually quite bewildered that we thought it was an issue, my husband explained that the wings were listed on the menu as a starter. The server then went on to tell my husband "well if it's any consolation sir, they all go down the same way" Needless to say this young man didn't get a tip. My pizza was very tasty but not enough to warrant a return trip

We parked on Main street. There should be plenty of parking spaces within walking distance. But don't worry if you are staying overnight. Parking is free from about 6p.m. until 11 a.m. They will advise you in the guesthouse.

Answer from Joyce B

Yes, very good- food was excellant- breakfast was awesome- try their white putdding was the best we had in Ireland- all homemade. Music was great, had entertainment every night. We were there for 2 nights & both times had good conversations with other people. What is nice about Ireland is no one is afraid to sit with others if no tables are available. Wasnt loud up in the rooms ( but then we shut down when the pub did, lol, but it was around 11:00 pm anyway) Staff & owners were extremely fun . Was busy all the time even during the day- we usually like to try different places out, but when we went for a walk around Kenmare we discovered no other places were busy like O'Donabhain's so we figured it was a no brainer to go for our second dinner & we were not disappointed. Really recommend this place- hope you enjoy has much as we did.
