I can't say enough good things about our stay here with Barry and Jens. They were fairly perfect hosts. They were very professional while being warm and engaging. It felt like being welcomed into someones home while being a surprisingly luxurious experience all at the same time. It is incredibly clean and well furnished. The bedroom, guest sitting room and breakfast spaces were beautiful and interesting with a gorgeous view over Kenmare Bay and the Beara peninsula beyond. A 3-course breakfast was really well presented and delicious. Lots of local knowledge if you want it. Easy drive to good restaurants in Kenmare. It is on a large property well away and up a hill from the road. It was refreshing to be away from the town and anyone else but 10 min drive to town when needed. We only stayed two nights but more would be ideal. It is right on the Ring of Kerry drive and a perfect central location to do easy day trips for Ring of Kerry, Beara peninsula, and Killarney National Park. We stayed as part of a longer road trip but there is great advantage to staying one place and doing day trips versus moving from place to place. This is the perfect location to base yourself out of for a few days of exploring by car. Wishing you both all the best and hope to return some day.

We loved this BnB. The views from the room were incredible, even on the rainy day which happened to be the case when we arrived. It was a short stay for us but the room had everything we needed and the house was impeccable. Hosts were very nice and gave us tips on Kenmare pubs, which turned out to be accurate. Breakfast was great, especially home made jams. It is few km from Kenmare so keep it in mind if you are looking for something that is walking distance from the pubs. We would definitely come back if visited Ireland in the future.

This was my favourite place by far on our trip around Ireland. Barry and Jens, you were the best hosts! We felt so at home and loved our packed breakfast for the drive, plus Jens cakes (pls mail them to Australia). The view from the front of the house is unreal and I wish we had more time to sit in the living room and stare at it. It was the perfect base for our Skellig trip and Ring of Kerry and provided a calm quiet place to get some good sleep. If you want somewhere that feels at home but not intrusive, don’t look anywhere else. From the beautiful bed linens and blankets to all the thoughtful touches throughout the rooms, the beautiful breakfast, they have it down. We were so sad to leave! Thank you for a wonderful stay, making us proper coffees and we hope to come back one day, as well as tell everyone else to stay here. Also book direct with them!

We stayed for three nights at Valhalla, and found it to be an exceptional guesthouse: comfortable, friendly, and sparklingly clean. Spacious bedroom, with snacks, water, and a very good coffeemaker; and fresh, elegant breakfasts. World-class views across Kenmare Bay to Beara. The evident quality of Valhalla stems directly from the attitude of hosts Jens and Barry, who are warm and professional, and happy to share their wide local knowledge. In short, a truly excellent experience.

The first thing is the view, breathtaking! Next are the wonderful hosts, Barry and Jens, closely followed by the beautiful accommodation, fabulous hospitality, breakfasts (Gary said don't forget to mention the perfect poached eggs), the homemade cakes and jam, the home grown blueberries, the attention to detail, the "above and beyond" attitude of both Barry and Jens to make our holiday so much more than just that, and last, but by no means least, the beautiful lamps, handmade by Jens. Thank you both for looking after us both, but particularly me!! We will definitely recommend and come and stay again if we ever visit your part of the world again. Gary and Cathy xx

We came to Ireland for a few days travelling from Germany and choose Barry and Jens‘s place on a recommendation. We had a great stay, not only the location can hardly be topped but the welcoming friendliness we received was an absolute pleasure. A beautiful house and garden, nice clean rooms and big breakfast choices made it a wonderful trip. Looking forward to coming back soon.

We chose this location to be in the heart of the ring of Kerry however off the tourist locations! This was a perfect and definitely the right choice . Barry and Jens are the most wonderful hosts , make you feel at home at their impeccable bed and breakfast with only 4 guest rooms. This creates a lovely atmosphere and with current Corona restrictions in place one feels safe and good all the time. The rooms are each in a different colour scheme and beautifully done , super clean and with a lovely touch to detail. Breakfast is served a la carte and with a large selection of different things (incl. freshly grown berries from the garden) . A joint living room is available for their guests and the house overlooks the beautiful scenery with a magnificent garden ! I’m ready to return.. many thanks Barry & Jens for your hospitality!

We stayed three nights with out hosts Jens and Barry. Their house and gardens were spectacular. Lovely large comfortable room with gorgeous views, very comfortable bed,and great shower. The breakfast was delicious and fresh, plenty to choose from. Jens baked a lovely tasty cake offered to us each day, lovely touch and kept us going for that mid day snack. The house is situated in a beautiful spot not too far to the town for dinner and shopping. The house is only a short drive away to some of the most spectacular sites Our hosts were friendly and helpful they gave us great advice about where to visit and dine. We would highly recommend Valhalla to others and hope to make another visit to them next year.

We recently spent a wonderful week in Valhalla BnB. Jens & Barry could not have done more for us, the superb breakfasts in the sunroom & their advice on places to visit in the area. Our beautiful room had breath taking views of the Beara Peninsula. Would totally recommend staying here. Best wishes, Bryan & Sandra Rogers.
