Lovely setting friendly welcome. Very clean and great value. Home made scones with breakfast and orthopaedic mattress on bed so had a great sleep. All three of us enjoyed the experience and all rooms were well put together. A working farm so a lovely experience.

Wonderful place to call "home base" for a couple of days. Shiela was a wonderful host- the perfect balance of motherliness and no-nonsense. The memory of her Irish breakfast still makes my mouth water, and I think I'm always going to miss her home-made bread!

Probably the most memorable thing about the Shiela was how accommodating she was in respect to our comfort. On our second day there, I asked her if it was okay if I buy some firewood so I could light a fire in the sitting room to read books from her modest library to my son by the warmth of a fire (perfect after those rainy days!). Upon returning from our adventures that day, I smiled as I saw that smoke was already rising from her chimney. She had made a fire ready for us (who knows how long she kept it up), and she made sure that there was always a fire going at night for the rest of our stay. Probably one of my favorite memories from our tour of Ireland will be reading by the fire with my son.

Thank you, Shiela!!

My daughter and I stayed here on our trip Ireland. We loved the rural setting- my daughter went for long rambles during the twilight. It was a perfect location for exploring the wonders around Kenmare with a very congenial hostess.

The BNB is ideally situated between Kenmare and Glengariff, surrounded by green fields & mountains.
It’s a working farm with hens, sheep & cows around.
Sheila is very committed and extremely helpful. She has great advice about things to do in the area.
The BnB itself is fine. The family room was spacious with en-suite bath. The interior is dated but everything is very clean. The rooms could do with some fresh and brighter paint as well as a bit of modern furniture.

This was my first stay at a farmhouse B & B, and I felt very pampered. I arrived mid-afternoon and was warmly greeted by Sheila with coffee and delicious tea breads. That's the kind of attention to detail that I like.

The views at the front of the property are really quite nice, and I liked that it was a working farm (no cow smell, though!) There's a hen house off to the side, and it was fun watching the chickens strut their stuff. Their eggs made a nice breakfast treat -- there's nothing quite like the taste of fresh eggs straight from the farm!

I found the beds comfy, the bathrooms spacious and clean, and the whole accommodation very nice. I also like the way it was laid out. I have my hair dryer and curling iron, and I like to have an outlet near the mirror. Not all B & B owners understand this. Sheila really does 'get it'.

When I got home that night from Molly Gallivan's Amercan Homecoming (just down the road and a must see and do), the room was toasty warm. Sheila had even put a hot water bottle between the sheets to warm my bed. Now that is pampering at its best!

Sheila's been in the business for forty years and has seen the different incarnations B & Bs have been required to maintain. It's interesting to hear what it took back then, and what it takes now to garner a four star rating. I've always been very satisfied with three star B & Bs. I think Sheila does very well!

White Heather is an easy five minute drive into Kenmare, which has a lot to offer. Wednesday mornings there is a farmer's market in town. The Heritage Center is near the Kenmare Lace and Design Centre, which has a fabulous display of the world famous Kenmare Lace.

Gleninchiquin Park is nearby and a great place to walk. Just down the road is Molly Gallivan's, as I mentioned, and also the Bonane Heritage Park. All three are definitely worth your time.

I recommend Sheila's White Heather as a comfortable place to stay.

Where to start? As a B&B, White Heather Farm is special -- clean and cozy rooms, a nice fire in the sitting room in the evening, a delicious cooked- to-order breakfast each morning -- I recommend the cheese omelette, but there are lots of other choices. But there's more -- the location is absolutely stunning, quite convenient to Kenmare but very quiet and peaceful. If you have children, they would love to see the cows and sheep and chickens.

The best thing about White Heather Farm, though, is Sheila. She is a very thoughtful and generous host, not just with special breakfasts and recommendations for local attractions, but with her time. She always had time for a bit of a chat (even I nGaeilge!) and made us feel truly welcome.

In our case, Sheila even figured out some of our family's genealogy! We knew that our grandmother had grown up on a nearby farm, and, as it turned out, Sheila and her husband had just bought that property seven or eight months ago, and Sheila brought us to the farmhouse, uninhabited since the last of my grandmother's nephews died 20-some years ago. She also shared stories of those nephews we had never met. (I wish I had met Paddy when he found that pot of gold!)

Our stay at White Heather Farm was the highlight of our Irish vacation! Now we have to return with the rest of the family! Thanks for your generosity and good humor, Sheila!

The White Heather Farmhouse was a very cozy and friendly place to stay. Shella was super nice and made sure we were comfortable. It wasn't very far from the downtown core, and a great starting off point to the ring of Kerry. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the shower head, it didn't have a lot of pressure and it was awkward. Other then that it was a great place. Breakfast was REALLY good too. I would recommend the White Heather Farmhouse.

We were a group of 8 friends - we stayed for 2 nights last week. Sheila was a good host and very warm. The experience of being on a farm made it unique as well. Overall a homely experience & one that I would recommend.

We arrived in Kenmare and went to other B&B's which were higher on our list of choices. All were full and White Heather Farmhouse had availability. The farm is quite a way out of the main town area. Rooms and bathrooms are adequate but nothing special. Sheila is a kind, delightful woman who tries to be as helpful as possible. She recommended a Chinese restaurant in town which we tried. It was the worst Chinese food we have ever had. Oh well......live and learn!
