Detailed Reviews
I visited Dromquinna for 2 nights with my husband and 2 children. The glamping was great, beds and bedding very comfortable, the tents are spacious and the breakfast basket dropped to the door in the morning is a treat. There's plenty to do on the grounds to keep the children entertained. We did the cliff walk which was lovely, the games room is great for a 7 and 9 yearly old and the sports complex is a great idea. The issue with this whole wknd was the noise. I know it was mentioned upon booking that the noise from the wedding may be heard from the tent but it was so far above and beyond what we expected. Many guests from the wedding were staying in the pods so even after the music stopped at 2.30 the noise of the wedding guests returning to their tents went on for another hour. It meant we got very little sleep and impacted the whole wknd. It really does go against the tranquil and peaceful vibe of the place. My husband especially didn't sleep and was eager to leave after one night which was a real pity. We did stay the 2nd night but unfortunately it was the same experience. We loved the beautiful place and the scenery but unfortunately wouldn't return again at the weekend.

Recently stayed in the Blackberry Lodge in Dromquinna. The house is gorgeous, very modern, clean, perfect place for a family reunion or get together. Each room is large and has its own ensuite, one of which has a bath and the remainder are showers. Towels in each and a small selection of Voya toiletries though you may want to pack extra if staying more than a few days. The house had a high chair, large dining table and a well equipped kitchen. It also had dishwasher and a washer dryer which is great when in a large family group. Lastly, there is also a small sitting area that can accommodate some of the guests. Really lovely place to stay with stunning views.
A couple of things to be aware of and the reasons why I dropped a mark are firstly, the path up to the house starting approx. halfway between the house and the manor is large gravel which is difficult to push a buggy through so bear in mind if staying with a small baby.
There is very little/no lighting on the paths from the boathouse and the manor to the house - hopefully this can be improved but make sure to have a torch or your phone charged up for light if walking in the dark.
All of the toilets and showers rely on electricity to work and if there is a power outage in the house there is no backup generator so in addition to not being able to use typical electrical items, you will also not be able to flush toilets which is something that you might not think of. Hopefully this is something that might be improved in future.
Lastly the wifi is very hit and miss. In our case it didn't work at all until the last day when we managed to pick up a signal from the potting sheds. Not a huge issue if you're on your holidays of course and want a break from the internet, however as the phone internet coverage is poor in the area it's just something to bear in mind as it made it difficult to communicate with family members on other parts of the resort. It also would not be reliable if you needed to work from the house.
Overall, we had a really lovely stay in Blackberry Lodge and while I do think there is some room for improvement, I would very happily stay in the Blackberry Lodge again.

We checked out today after a wonderful three night stay in the potting sheds. We are a family of 5, with children aged 8,6 and 3. Our three year old stayed in a travel cot in the room. The 8 and 6 year old were very happy in the bunk beds.
The room is beautiful, really spacious and well decorated. The bedding was fabulous, and so comfortable.
We loved our breakfast hamper delivery in the mornings. We had tea, coffee, 5 bottles of freshly squeezed orange juice, 5 croissants, 5 pastries and 5 yoghurts. Plus jam, marmalade, milk etc.
On site the children loved the playground, pool table, Lego sets, and the boules court was a particular favourite.
We did the cliff top walk too which was beautiful.
We ate in the boathouse restaurant twice which was delicious and had a great children’s menu.
Thank you Dromquinna for a fabulous stay!

We are a family of four (with two kids aged 12 and 10). We booked two nights in the luxury tents. In a destination described as luxury, we expected the highest standards in both accommodation and service. However, though we were very happy with the accommodation in the tent, we were surprised and disappointed to find, on arrival, that our luxury tent was supplied with only two bottles of water and two drinking glasses (for 4 people!). As for breakfast, as another reviewer has said, this was just basic and very disappointing with 4 croissants, two small bottles of juice, four yoghurts and a pot of coffee (with only 2 cups provided (or 4 people)) and 4 jams without butter for the croissants, leaving all of us hungry after. As for the breakfast on the second day, two plates were provided for 4 people. Now, these comments might appear petty. But, when you pay €480.00 for 4 people for 2 nights accommodation in a fancy tent with breakfast in what is held out as a luxury destination, it is reasonable to expect the tent to be fully equipped for 4 people and to receive an adequate breakfast. Staff very friendly. To the proprietors, please don't describe your offering as luxury and charge high-end prices unless what you provide is luxury at every level.

We had our return visit this weekend and were very disappointed Dromquinna Manor . Lip service from reception and 24 hours after checkout no contact from management nor an apology from them when on site. Front of house staff seemed apologetic but they couldn't do anything.
They market the hideaway as '
'THE HIDEAWAY
Welcome to your paradise within paradise, the exclusive Hideaway at Dromquinna Manor. Tucked away in a secluded part of the estate, this expansive tent offers total seclusion for couples.
Luxury is a word often abused but a real personal luxury is a rare find. The Hideaway fulfills a total sense of escape from the real world resulting in a personal luxury like no other. It is nature and natural in sound and vision that connects with your inner soul and switches you off, totally. A private gate leads to your sanctuary that is perched on a cliff overlooking Kenmare Bay. You are greeted with a private garden and path that leads to your tented home. Decorated with an eclectic mix of antiques and native rustic furniture the style is laid back natural elegance. The only intrusion is the slow fly-by by your only neighbouring resident, the Heron.'
Unfortunately not on this occasion.
In their 'Welcome' literature they do mention at the very end that the venue is used for weddings and that 'sometimes bands can be loud and noise can travel'
I had glanced at it but as it was after a paragraph on 'Dining', I assumed it was about other services they offered. Well hidden in my view. It didn't come with a WARNING that guests could sit on the lawns or outside and sing until dawn without being asked to keep it down out of respect for other guests. No issue with bands indoors. I have an issue with rowdy drunks blasting out tunes at 4 a.m.
We all shared this space and all paid dearly for it.
When I mentioned it to reception, they drew my attention to the information that I got in my booking email and that I had the choice to change my booking to a time when they had no weddings. I booked back in Feb. Weddings could have been booked since. Why not tell me at time of booking. The Hideaway is much sought after and has limited availability.
The tranquility offered in their blog was more akin to a rowdy night in Ibiza or Torremelinos and the poor heron they mention clearly checked out this weekend. He knew better, he knew the wedding was on!
We won't be back and for those seeking tranquility and peace...I suggest you avoid. Let it to the late night revellers.

We stayed in the ‘Luxury tents’ for 2 nights in July. They were ok, nothing luxurious about them to be honest. The facilities need to be improved. It rained for the 2 days we were on site and every time you walked from your tent to the car or bathroom your feet would get wet. They could really invest in putting a pathway to each tent, even with some stones or gravel.
The breakfast hamper was very disappointing. My partner described the croissant as something similar to what you would get on an airplane. It was ok, but not for the price.

I attended a wonderful wedding here yesterday. The grounds and views are beautiful.
I am gluten intolerant and was blown away by the effort that the Manor and staff went to carer to my dietary requirement. Our server knew everything that I could eat and I was pleasantly surprised that most things were gluten free and if they weren't, I got an alternative. She also brought my a plate of my own au doeuvres at the drinks reception. The food was delicious. I haven't experienced that kind of service at a wedding before.

Small quibbles:
1. In a good hotel, leaf blowers and/or other loud machines have no business irritating paying guests all morning. Someone needs to have a word with the gardeners.
2. It would be nice to see a proper sea-swimming facility, at the moment swimmers feel a bit unloved... we note that works appear to be ongoing at the pier.
Apart from these concerns, the Brennans have created a magical retreat in Kenmare.
Dromquinna is family-friendly, not wildly expensive, and if you get reasonable weather, you will have a memorable time.
Lovely staff, charming breakfast delivery, stylish accommodation. We stayed in one of the potting sheds. Very cool!
There was no wedding during our stay, which was a relief; I imagine the atmosphere is rather different with late-night revellers about the place.
In short: beautiful property, charming people, would return.

This is our second time at Dromquinna and first time in the Potting Sheds.
Our Stay: We had a really lovely stay, the beds are fab, the private bunkbed suited our teenager. The breakfast delivered each morning was perfect to start the day, We would have liked a small fridge in the room for fruit and drinks but managed, there's plenty room in the communal kitchen. I think there is a need for more hooks for towels and a shelf in the ensuite as it gets crowd with towels on the ledge behind the loo.
Our Eats: We ate at the Boathouse twice during our stay, it was nice but not as good as the last time we stayed, We missed the monkfish curry and a pasta dish on the menu would have been nice.
Poor wifi in the accommodation, but that's maybe not a bad thing!
I would have given a rating of excellent if we had of enjoyed the Boathouse more.

Stayed in Dromquinna manor recently along with another family. Reception staff were very warm and welcoming. Views are stunning and the standard of the tents are excellent, spacious, comfortable and good furnishings. Breakfast was nice being delivered 1 fresh croissant&yoghurt each but could do with being a little more given the price. You have to choose between tea/coffee or OJ !! We ate in the boathouse on our first night. Food excellent but the service was very poor and borderline rude. Although both reservations were made with the same phone call some weeks before our arrival. Our booking for the 2nd night in shutters was lost. This was a 5:30 booking and the restaurant we were told was full turned out to be about 3/4 full. I was astounded as to how the Manager handled this so poorly and defensively. No apology and no follow up at the end to amend their error. Food was lovely there and service was friendly however a little slow. Given what Dromquinna claims to be and its stunning relaxing setting, I was very underwhelmed as to how our dining experiences (although excellent food) lacked charm, warmth and welcome.
