Dating back to 1897, heritage and luxury are combined at the Park Hotel Kenmare to create a gracious home, that is yours to enjoy. A vibrant hotel with wonderful facilities like our Deluxe Destination Spa SÁMAS, Bamford Treatments, 25mt Lap Pool, Cinema and Daily Lifestyle Classes, but a place where we are not ashamed to be old fashioned. This Victorian landmark, dating from 1897, with its splendid views over the glistening waters of Kenmare Bay, the ever changing light of the Cork and Kerry Mountains, the adjoining 18 hole golf course, garden walks and the Heritage Town of Kenmare is home to one of Ireland’s finest hotels. Tradition, in every sense, is important to us, as is the fun of today, the devilment of a younger guest, the delight of a couple holding hands and the delivery of true service. It is a rare place where the decadence of the past is married with the modernism of today.

Nestled in the heart of Kenmare town, the Park Hotel Kenmare is celebrated for its sumptuous atmosphere and stately rooms, with many guests applauding the stylish common areas and spacious accommodations. The service at the hotel is often highlighted as exceptional, with staff providing personalized touches that enrich guests' stays.
While the hotel's cleanliness and top-notch amenities, including a luxurious spa and diverse dining options, receive high marks, some visitors feel the room decor could use an update. Despite its serene location and acclaimed features, a few guests question the value, pointing to steep prices.

Hotel's Favourite
The hotel is in a superb location, 200m from the centre of Kenmare and yet it feels like you are in the middle of the countryside.
Our room (as many do) had spectacular views across the estuary and to the mountains beyond.
The room was delightful, spacious, well fitted and with a very large comfortable bed. I guess the only small complaint was that the shower a bit small.
The staff at the hotel were all really friendly and helpful and we had a couple of lovely meals in the restaurant.
A highlight is the spa with a large thermal bath (more like a small pool) where you can sit and relax in the jets and bubbles overlooking the woodland and estuary beside you. The area is covered but with one side completely open so you can really enjoy the views.
We even got to appreciate some of the new modern original abstract paintings that the new owner has placed there. They certainly add real style to the restaurant and bar areas.
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and our thanks to the whole team at the hotel who made us feel very welcome and comfortable.

This is our second time staying at the Park Hotel and it is as wonderful second time around. The service begins as you arrive in the car park and does not stop. They see everything and make everything so perfect and smooth, we felt really valued and pampered. The food is amazing, we ate in the terrace the first night and it was gorgeous. We had the 7 course tasting menu the second night, my husband doesn't eat fish so they swapped out 3 courses for him to meat dishes. They started with 3 divine canapes and then the 7 courses. The flavours and variety were all mind blowing and the perfect size. We were neither stuffed nor hungry at the end, just perfect. The staff are so lovely and nothing is too much trouble. The swimming pool is one of the reasons we love the place as it is UV filtered and like swimming in bottled water. I cannot rate this hotel any higher and cannot wait to go again.

Staying here was like a step back into a more leisurely time when people took time to enjoy life.Everything seemed structured to help guests relax and enjoy their surroundings. The two most important areas in any hotel,in my opinion, are reception and the dining room. We were met and greeted before we entered the hotel. The food was expertly prepared and presented professionally and without fuss. Breakfast was freshly prepared as one ordered. The wine list was simply faultless and should be studied by any establishment wishing to impress. Everything said "Old World":no noisy parties or disruption. I could go on,but suffice it to say that if you,or someone special in your life deserves a little pampering, then look no further.

First and foremost the hotel's COVID-19 hygiene protocols were either pathetic or non-existent. We have stayed and dined in a few places since lockdown lifted and all of them the staff wore at least face masks and more commonly and better - visors. In The Park Hotel "management decided that staff in the hotel restaurant/bar and public areas need not wear them". They were only worn in the spa and by housekeeping (strange that). We were going on to meet elderly parents who had cocooned so we couldn't go on taking the risk so we cancelled our stay. Can't overstate what poor value and how careless this hotel is. They certainly do not put the guest first and in the current context they are not putting staff first either. Apart from that, the hotel needs a major refurb. I'm not suggesting for a moment that they lose the traditional country house feel but currently they are stuck in a time warp with a 1950's institutional feel to the rooms and public spaces. Too much carpet and drapery making the place really really stuffy, dusty and allergic. Finally, it is typical of country houses to have their own or locally sourced spring water and to provide it freely. We asked for 3 bottles of the locally sourced water to be sent to the room. No charge was notified, no docket was signed.......€18.60 was on the final bill for the 3 bottles!

We had stayed here a few years ago and we were really interested to see the new changes like the improved champagne bar, the booths in the dining room and all the other lovely changes....
From the moment we drove up in the rain, and were greeted with umbrelllas we felt at home. Our car was moved every night for us so it could be charged overnight and it was effortless. We never had to remind them.
Check in was effortless and Olivia gave us a lovely tour of the hotel and showed us to our room. Our room 306 was fabulous with a great view over the bay. The bed was so comfortable and the bathroom stunning. huge wardrobe area with lots of hangers which is often not the case in other hotels!
We had dinner twice in the dining room (you have to prebook) and it was so delicious. Crab starter and turbot was divine. All the staff are so friendly and yet manage to be professional as well. Breakfast was also in the dining room and the choice was very extensive.
We would like to particularly mention John and Dylan in the bar. Everynight we would sit at the bar chatting with them and listening to stories. This for us was a highlight of our stay. John has been with the hotel 40 years he says and he knows everything there is to know about Kenmare. His suggestions on walks and cafes are invaluable. The banter between guests and John and Dylan was just brilliant. I literally cannot praise them highly enough.
We used the pool and this is to be prebooked due to covid. But we felt so safe, we were given a slot of an hour and on arrival at the pool our towels were in a plastic box with our names on it. Again it never felt weird or anything like that.
From our emails initially with T.J. to our arrival we felt we were treated like friends not guests. Our stay was simply one of the best we have had in a hotel and we have travelled extensively in the US, Singapore, Japan, Maldives and all over Europe.
We cannot wait to come back again. Thank for making this trip so so special.

My husband and I spent two nights here at the beginning of August where we celebrated a combined birthday/anniversary celebration. From the moment we drove into the hotel and were met by Phillip to the moment we left and was bade goodbye by Phillip we could not have had a nicer experience. The staff, without exception, were so friendly, the room we had with the beautiful view of the garden and lake was perfect, the breakfasts were truly scrumptious as was the dinner we had on our first night there. The sommelier presented us with a little glass of bubbly and congratulated us on our anniversary at dinner. The outdoor seating where breakfast could also be eaten was enhanced by the view while we enjoyed the beautiful sunshine which continued to shine over the two days we spent there. We did not get to use the Leisure Centre as there was so much to do and see outside. The house itself is decorated with beautiful and unusual furniture, and the walks around the water and through the woods is a must. We really enjoyed listening to the young lady on the piano each evening as she played beautifully. We asked advice on places to visit in the area and there were comprehensive maps and advice on hand to guide us.
For us, staying at this type of hotel would not be something we would do on a regular basis as it was very expensive but definitely worth the money for a special occasion. We would return in a heartbeat. Thank you Park Hotel for a truly memorable experience.

The Park Hotel Kenmare is quite simply one of the best hotels I have stayed in. It is rich in history and style, yet when you walk in you feel like you’re a guest in a friend’s house. Check in was a quick hello and chat with the manager - no paperwork, no computers. He just handed us a key and said out luggage was there already. The rooms were beautiful with a country house style and, as you’d expect from this type of Irish luxury hotel, the staff were incredibly friendly. No ersatz warmth here, which you usually get in English or European hotels - but genuine friendliness.
The food, wines, champagnes, whiskeys, and cocktails were all exceptional. The only dangerous thing is that you don’t sign for anything in this hotel. As mentioned, you’re made to feel very much like a friend guest, so no bills or room charge signatures. It all gets added to your bill without effort. Of course … that also means it’s hard to keep track of your spending. But, hey, if you’re staying in this type of luxury establishment, you’re probably ok with splashing a bit of cash to enjoy yourself.
And to be honest … there’s no better place to do that than Park Hotel! An amazing stay!

The hotel's reputation is extraordinary, and yet the experience of staying at the Park more than lives up to that. The hotel is actually an oasis of calm and quiet even though it is so close to the busy town of Kenmare. From the outset the doorman set the tone, guiding us to an EV parking bay, getting the charging started and taking our luggage to the room. All the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful; nothing is too much trouble. Inside everywhere is deep carpeted quiet, unhurried. While the hotel was probably busy, being peak season, it never felt crowded.
What we hadn't appreciated is that the hotel is facing onto a high street to the front, but the rear faces onto the river. You can walk down to the river and the beautiful Reengross Park, which is seamlessly integrated with the hotel grounds. So there are lovely riverside walks literally 5 minutes from the hotel.
The only thing I missed was gluten free biscuits with a cup of tea. But perhaps that's asking too much.
Great experience all round. Yes, it's expensive but you get what you pay for.

Dear David Thank you for giving your time to share your overall experience with us at Park Hotel Kenmare. I was always taught in hotel school the importance of "Location, Location, Location" and we are so lucky as you mention to have the best of both worlds either side of our hotel. It is so nice to read your comments about the friendliness and helpfulness shown throughout your visit. These kind words truly motivate the team to continue to provide positive and memorable experiences for our guests. We have a selection of gluten free breads and biscuits and I'm sorry that we missed this opportunity to offer to you. Thank you once again for your time and thoughtfulness. Warm regards TJ

We had a wonderful three days here, the staff were lovely, very friendly and accommodating. We got a suite room which was beautiful as we looked out onto the lakes, food was delicious and a nice touch with a piano player in the evening over drinks. I was amazed at how modern the spa facilities were for an old hotel, really was top class.
My only point to note would be in relation to the tennis court . It is badly in need of repair and in its current condition it should not be open as it is quite hazzordous due to the uneven surface and large cracks towards the edge of the court. This unfortunately resulted in one of our guests having a fall on the court which resulted in a minor injury which could have been worse. Whilst the staff at the hotel were helpful following this, my suggestion would be that the tennis court is repaired as soon as possible as it quite dangerous in its current state and is not in keeping with the standards of a 5 star hotel with 5 star rates.

My partners and I stayed here for New Year’s Eve 2019/2020. The grounds are beautiful, overlooking the bay and are very quiet and natural. We were checked in by Francis Brennan himself and all of the staff were so attentive, welcoming and friendly. The hotel was beautifully decorated in festive cheer and the room was absolutely beautiful. It was very luxurious and personal. We rang in the new year with a live band downstairs and balloons were dropped from the ceiling while ringing in the new year. Breakfast the next morning was outstanding. Very enjoyable stay overall however €470 was steep for one night but compared to other 5 star hotels in the area it was well worth it. Thanks for such a great time!
