Shiela & Sam are a really lovely couple and they accommodated us on short notice. We extended our stay on a whim, and they made it possible for us! We stayed in the lavender room, which was very spacious and extremely clean. We enjoyed the view over the field behind the house, the breakfast and the traveling tips that our hosts gave us. For example, Sam and Sheila recommended to us to visit the most picturesque part of the Ring of Kerry and then go to the southern peninsula instead. That was an excellent suggestion indeed!

You should go to Kerry, Ireland, you really should. There is no better place to base oneself than at Forgefield House. Shiela & Sam are exemplary hosts, their bedrooms rooms are spacious, comfortable, spotless & all bar one en-suite the exception having it’s own bathroom. The breakfasts are to die for, I opted for the fruit & natural yoghurt to be followed by ‘traditional Irish’ each day (egg, bacon, tomato, sausages, mushrooms with white & black pudding- superb; my fellow travellers had scrambled eggs with salmon or boiled eggs equally satisfying. Honestly, you can’t go wrong staying here. You simply must go to Forgefield House & Kerry too.

Forgefield House is an outstanding B&B located just outside Kenmare. The rooms are very well decorated with comfortable beds and ensuite bathroom. The proprietors are extremely nice and they provide an outstanding breakfast. I can easily recommend the Forgefield House!

We were very happy with our stay. Two adults and a teen. I loved the big king bed. (Which is a nice change from the small doubles we’ve been getting.). The room was very spacious and clean. Sam and Sheila were very hospitable. The breakfast was very good as well. The B&B is located a little bit out of town. But if you are a walker, it’s doable. However, a cab ride is only 6E. If you need laundry service (which we did after two weeks of traveling), drop a bag off at O’Sheas in the morning. They will have it ready in the afternoon.

Sam and Sheila welcomed us and showed us up to our cozy room. They chatted often about the area, what to see and how to get there. The B&B was well appointed, cozy, clean and welcoming. Breakfast was an assortment of cereals, fruit and breads as well as hot breakfasts cooked to order and everything was delicious. The view from the sunroom dining area was beautiful, complete with wild bunnies hopping in the tall grass! The location is excellent, a few minutes into Kenmare, a delightful town and only a 1/2 hour to Killarney and Killarney Nat. Forest. Loved every minute of our stay and hated to leave. Definitely would recommend it and stay there again if we have the chance.
