Detailed Reviews
Just back from a two nights stay at ard na Sidhe.
We had a beautiful garden room with a patio, with lovely views overlooking the garden. It was spotless.
Sandra checked us in and showed us around the hotel, we loved the quiet and peaceful location of the hotel, it was like stepping back in time.
The property is beautifully designed and maintained, the gardens are beautiful, loved the resident deer making a daily appearance.
The food on both nights was absolutely fantastic ( please management thank your kitchen staff on our behalf.)
Breakfast was again cooked to perfection each morning, with quality ingredients.
A big thank you to Debbie who was on duty each morning and again at night looking after all the guests, she was absolutely fantastic, as all the staff we encountered.
To sum it up Ard na Sidhe is a beautiful place to go if you want a relaxing break, with incredible staff to look after your needs.
Thank you all for your dedication.
See ye all again soon

Ard na Sidhe near Killorglin Ireland is a most beautiful place, a hidden gem, semi-secret. We highly recommend it and will certainly come back again. The Team are amazing: real professionals and so nice people like Sandra, Mary and Debbie make your feel as if you were staying in their own home. Hannah in the lounge was very kind to us also on our first evening. David chef de cuisine prepared beautiful dishes at dinner, local Irish and European. The breakfasts are a delight. The gardens are so beautiful, swimming in the lake was a treat and refreshing. The wild dear that came to the garden...We had two garden suites. We miss the place. Top class and thank you to the Team there for a super holiday.

I don't know where to begin other than to say that Ard Na Sidhe is one of the loveliest properties I've ever had the pleasure of staying in. From the house itself with it's interesting history, to the thoughtfully and beautifully decorated rooms, to the stunning grounds and gardens, it was a dream. And all of that is to say nothing of their staff. My mom experience every traveler's worst nightmare and broke a bone while out sightseeing in Killarney National Park, resulting in a visit to the emergency room in the early evening when we were due to arrive at Ard Na Sidhe. The evening manager could not have been more gracious, patient, considered, kind or accommodating. She waited late for us to arrive and when we finally arrived around midnight, she was as bright and helpful as ever. She doted on my mom, asking if there was anything she could do to help ease her stay with her recent injury. She then was so kind as to fix us hot tea and biscuits and chatted with us in one of the sitting rooms, never once indicating she was tired too even though I know she had to have been. We were all able to sleep well after that, and the staff at breakfast were equally as gracious in kind, helping me to prepare a tray to take upstairs to my mom while the rest of us ate in the dining room. I cannot stress enough how much all of this together meant to my family, so needless to say, we will absolutely be back. While I don't recommend breaking a bone while on holiday, I highly recommend staying at Ard Na Sidhe if you can! You won't regret it.

Although we had an enjoyable two night stay, we didn't feel that we had a 750 EUR experience. Here’s why:
1) Breakfast extremely average and interrupted by pronged and unnecessary hoovering which didnt stop - even when raised with staff. Not a 350 EUR night standard.
2) dreadful pseudo high brow music. Constant and odd music everywhere. We probably would have spent a lot more time in the lounge, where it not for the operatic hymns and retro covers turned classical. If you want to keep it more sophisticated there are so many great contemporary jazz and classical artists, subjecting people to that is just lazy programming by the hotel and made for an awful experience sitting/dining anywhere it was being played.
3) Sandwiches and service all pretty amateur.
Overall things weren’t terrible but when you put it into the context of the price per night, the hotel is way off the mark on the quality of experience its offering.

We enjoyed a three night stay here recently. It's in a remote and quiet spot on the shore of Caragh Lake. Our room in the main house was comfortably furnished and very quiet. It had a view over the gardens. The water pressure was fabulous so the showers were particularly good. There is no TV in the rooms or in the hotel, just what we needed. Wifi was mediocre and mobile coverage poor. In other words, a "Low Tech" experience. All the staff were helpful and well trained. The quality of the meals, both breakfast and dinner, was excellent with an emphasis on local ingredients and produce. We enjoyed walking through the beautiful grounds and along the lakeshore.

This Hotel is an excellent place to relax from a stressful life or work (no TV/radio) and enjoy extremely good service and superb cuisine.
The house is situated in a wonderfully landscaped garden at Caragh Lake only minutes away from Killorglin and the Ring of Kerry.
There is no swimmingpool or wellness center....just peace and quiet
in a classy atmosphere with very attentive and friendly staff that is eager to fulfill all your needs and wishes.
The library and the lounge with open fireplace are only two examples
where you can retreat away from it all in comfy seats. There are little hideaway seats all over the main house and in the garden.
A carpark can be found next to the hotel.
The whole grounds are surrounded by forests with lots of wildlife to discover.
When you open your window all you will hear is the sound of the wind in the trees, the birds or the sound of water.

We stayed 7 wonderful nights here with two little kids, 8 and 1.5 years old. The estate is quiet, beautiful. It’s just the right place we are looking for to relax and unwind for our vacation. It’s the perfect home base for us to explore other areas like Killarney, Dingle, Portmagee/Skellig Island.
The first night we were there, we saw the resident deer (mama and baby). We stayed in the family room and it’s spacious, light and airy. They have a nook with skylight above it that’s gorgeous. Our 8 years old prefer to sleep on this nook than on his bed.
Breakfast and dinner were delicious. We love Helena and Baptise at the restaurant during breakfast. Helena paid special attention to my two boys and made sure my toddler had a bowl of strawberries in the morning (because it was all he would eat for breakfast while we were there).
Definitely recommend and we definitely would go back!

Stayed here for one night as a treat to my mother. Service was somewhat lacking and blatantly inexperienced. Dinner service seemed lax and our server tried to take my plate while my cutlery was still in hand, it was obvious I hadn’t yet finished the course. Every table but ours got chocolates with their last course. I have had far superior service at 3 star establishments. The difference in service between this establishment and their sister properties is glaring. Overrated and disappointing.

Ard na Sidhe Country House is situated in a beautiful location overlooking Caragh Lake and surrounded by beautiful, well-maintained gardens. It is a wonderful location to escape the fast pace of everyday life. The bedrooms and bathrooms are very comfortable and of a high standard.
The staff are friendly, helpful, courteous and attentive. The lounge downstairs is very inviting with an open fire and large comfortable couches and armchairs, making you feel relaxed and ready to unwind.
The food is delicious and top-class and doesn't disappoint! A memorable experience which I would highly recommend!

Staying here feels more like staying in a very comfortable country house than an hotel. The house is a beautifully restored example of Arts and Crafts style complete with William Morris design curtains. Each bedroom reflects its original decor. It is set in absolutely beautiful grounds with myriad paths that meander down to Lake Caragh below. It is wonderfully peaceful and relaxing. The staff are somewhat hard to find sometimes but our dinner was excellent with an emphasis of local and seasonal produce. Breakfast was not as good as ‘warmed’ bread arrived calling itself toast and the cooked breakfast was served on cold plates.
