Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a small working farm, doing B&B as an aside. In my view this is the highlight of the place, with free roaming chickens and turkeys, the resident pig and sheep doing the same around you, but you may not like it if you are looking for an hotel. You are not likely to see the hostess at all, and check in may be self service according to were the farmer is working when you get in. Breakfast is self service in the morning, but you are stocked with all sort of cereals and a full fridge, plus fresh eggs and fresh pastries brought in early. Good quick wi-fi but little or no phone signal. We were in the ensuite, other rooms have a private bath on the landing. Rooms are high standard and charming and guests are in a wing of the farm so that the only common area is the entrance where you are expected to leave your shoes.

If you want to stay on a remote farm then this place is great. Lovely comfortable bedroom, amazing views, animals, wildlife and peace and quiet. So nice to be woken by the cry of a Cockerell or sheep than by noisy traffic anytime. Lovely hosts, very friendly and would do anything to make your stay perfect which it was. Hopefully be back again one day. Not too far to go for a meal, a few pubs in the area but do book beforehand.

Unfortunately we didnt get to stay here as our reservation was cancelled due to personal circumstances however the owners were so very helpful in recommending somewhere else for us to stay also vicky recommended the druid inn in birchover for our celebratory 2 year wedding dinner we was not disappointed and upon arrival the owner of the restaurant presented us with a bottle of champagne from the gratton farm owners as special treat for our anniversary so although we didnt get to stay i felt it only right to say a big thankyou and to let you know we really appreciated it and hopefully we will get to stay with you in the future . Thanks again kelly and dane .

We stayed here in July whilst visiting Chatsworth House. The setting is beautiful, room really cosy and comfortable and our host Vicky was wonderful. We spent the evening sat in the farm yard enjoying the beautiful scenery while our boys thoroughly enjoyed playing with our hosts daughter and feeding the animals. We were made to feel really at home and the continental breakfast had plenty to offer including eggs fresh from the chicken shed. Would highly recommend. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Exactly what we expected when looking at many reviews about this place, very clean and tidy, everything always stocked up, plenty of room for us to move around and it's lovely and quiet. What else can we say, thank you.

We have just returned from a wonderful stay here. I cannot recommend enough. When we arrived we were greeted by Lola the gorgeous boxer and a goat..we knew straight away we were going to like it! We stayed in room 1 which had amazing views and a great room with 4 poster bed. My partner has a bad back at the moment so the large bath tub in there is just what he needed! Breakfast was homemade and very good quality. We cannot wait to come back!

Arriving at this hidden gem in the middle of no where, your taken aback straight away by the beautiful landscape views that great you. Upon arrival, we were greeted by owner Rob whom immediately makes you feel at home. You feel as you’ve walked into a warm loving place. Such a homely relaxed atmosphere & a really nice welcome. The next to great us were two of the most beautiful boxers that are so well behaved and just love attention. We were given room 3, which is on the top floor of the house. The room was lovely, very comfy bed and a great view of the green countryside, of which we could spot some lovely animals. We had our own spacious and clean bathroom which had everything we needed including a bath and shower. Had a very good sleep on a really cosy & comfortable bed. We were disturbed at one point by a cockerel but it made us smile as it’s an authentic countryside experience. Waking up the next morning to the best smell of breakfast being prepared. A really nice breakfast selection and a really good fresh coffee machine which was greatly appreciated. Rob cooked a great breakfast including catering to my partners fussy eating. Overall I think if your after a lovely authentic countryside stay then make sure this is the place you stay. I will definitely be coming back in the near future.

We made our booking (and paid in full) in March 2019 to stay at the property in August 2019 for our friends wedding. Much to our disappointment, we were informed by email that our booking had been cancelled the day before the wedding! Lucky we checked our emails! Something similar happened to our friends, although they weren't contacted at all! If you want a stress free break away, don't bother with this place.
