So with the Ibis in Chesterfield, you get what you pay for. We did not pay a lot. We certainly did not get a lot. It was a very basic room and for that the price was fine. As we were exploring the local historic sights, we really only needed a bed and a shower. The bed was comfortable enough, however, I had to ask for a second pillow. Normally in other hotels, there is a second pillow in the wardrobe (or somewhere) if one wishes to have it. Whilst we were only wanting a basic room, there were also a couple of grievances that marked the score down. 1.) The windows. Only one of them opened and even then it was just a crack. There was also an inner window which stopped air flow. As someone who is very hot, I struggled to sleep due to the hot June weather. 2.) The bathroom. The cleaners couldn't even be bothered to fill up the complimentary shower gel over the two days we were there. Luckily we had bought our own. 3.) Finally customer service. Whilst the customer service wasn't bad per se, it wasn't great. We weren't greeted with smiles but with a few evil glares like we were doing a disservice by being there. Once they spoke to us, they were okay. All in all, not the best experience. But as stated numerous times and in the title: you get what you pay for...

Good budget hotel close to Peak District. I was on the third floor. You can hear the road but it’s not too bad. Parking and WiFi good and easy. Very clean and comfortable. Staff friendly. I had no issues staying here and it was as expected for a budget hotel.

I stayed here two nights whilst walking in the area. The hotel is on a busy roundabout at the edge of the city. Driving there the first time was confusing. There is plenty of on site free parking. You can walk into the centre in 5 mins after crossing some busy roads! The roads around the hotel area are a constant source of noise which continues most of the night. Ear plugs would help if you are at the back of the property next to the ring road. Check in was easy despite them not having my updated booking. Covid precautions seemed fine. My room was large with a good shower room. The bed was very comfortable. I did not make use of the dining facilities. This is a good value hotel well-placed for the city and surrounding areas if you are just looking for somewhere to sleep. It seemed to be used mainly by travelling workers.

Not such a nice stay, the room I stayed in had a view of a roof and not the best looking roof. The room is looking like it needs some decorating the cupboards are chipped there’s signs of something that stuck on the wall remains of glue and Blu-Tack are still there. The tiles in the bathroom are starting to hang off and the shower is a bit grotty round the edges. The noise of the motorway outside kept me awake all night it was like sleeping in the motorway lay-by, oh and to add to that was the odd locomotive train went past and felt like it was running through the corridor. The food menu was very limited so decided to eat elsewhere. I selected my breakfast and went down to collect it the pastries were a joke I have taken a photograph of a 5p next to it so you can see how small it was. I asked for an apple and got a pear. And to top it off I had a squeaky bed I hope you enjoy your stay.

The manager is a joke, and either doesn't know how to run a hotel or simply doesn't care. They should replace him as soon as possible!!!!!! 1. They gave the keycard to my room to a different guest WHEN I WAS ALREADY USING THE ROOM!!! Luckily I was in the room at the moment when someone else literally opened the door and walked in! What would happen to my belongings if I wasn't there?!?!?! Most likely they would steal my stuff!!! How incompetent you must be to let something like that happen! I reported this to the staff and never heard anything from the manager about it, no apologies, nothing at all!!! 2. Not a single night was quiet, whoever designed the hotel is an imbecile, they decided to put double windows on one side of the hotel, but not on the other, more importantly not on the side where there is a Motorway just outside!!!! How stupid is that?! Not only that, but there was this constant very loud humming noise, sounded like they were turning some sort of a machine for the night... From what I know it's some sort of a drying machine. Again... how stupid is the manager to decide to turn the machine on FOR THE NIGHT!!! 3. The hotel is disgusting as F***, there was a massive mold in the bathroom! Stains of god know what on the carpets, furniture, etc. In hotels like this, the cleaning staff has a specific amount of time to clean each room, no matter how dirty and disgusting it is... IT'S CLEARLY NOT ENOUGH IDIOTS!!! Give them more time to do a proper job! Although the cheapest place to stay at the moment, it is still the worst value for money you can get... go somewhere else! I highly recommend replacing the manager with someone competent, and to invest a bit of money to make the place quiet! Although to be fair it would be best to demolish the building completely and build a new one because of how disgusting it is!!!! To be completely fair... the beds were quite comfy.
